It’s finally InkTober, and I ended up going peak millennial with the Day 1 prompt of “Ring” for some reason—probably because I was waiting on the Chinese food I order and I was really hungry for dinner.
Anyway, have this peak 2010s onion ring and banner thing.
I used up some spare chalk and charcoal for the sidewalk in front of my apartment's staircase. . . . . . #halloween #happyhalloween #skull #chalk #charcoal #chalkart #sidewalkart #halloweendecor #halloweendecoration (at Orlando, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4S-g0ODKKC/?igshid=ahmomsuyaw3g
I’m almost done with this particular page, but I didn’t have the stamina to continue after a while—although I’m working on rough drafts for future pages.
Also, I spent nearly an hour not knowing that this update to Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 and it’s brush tool literally happened five days ago, and I’m just...an extra level of annoyed that I thought that it was Lazy Nezumi, and I couldn’t figure out how to turn off the smoothing mode for an hour until I figured out that it was Photoshop itself.
On the extra cool side, it’s super cool to see that Photoshop actually has proper screentone stuff now. Really. I’m experimenting with it to see how I can use it better. (Although I’ll probably just get better over time anyway, tbh.)
Here, have an animation for Star Trek’s 50th anniversary!
Even if it was technically an assignment for my advanced illustration course, I had fun with my sorry excuse for fan art (Yes, I grew up with Star Trek in the 90s. My parents and I would watch both TNG and Voyager together, and TOS on occasion.)
I also had fun revisiting nebulas and space as subject matter for digital painting, and this was a lovely excuse to do that, too. Also, this was actually the first time I’ve ever used overlays in something, to be brutally honest. You’d think I would have touched them at some point if I’ve known Photoshop for years...but nope. Not once.
I may have to make a Zelda 30th anniversary illustration and a Pokemon 20th anniversary illustration to accompany this as well, as I grew up with those, too...(and without parental influence.)
My Type and Design class had us doing a wine packaging project out of the blue.
That said, this is the result of that.
I don't actually consider this to be a proper packaging project, especially considering that I have a larger packaging project on my plate at the moment, and my professor for the class that this is for allowed us to use mock-ups. Incidentally, you can find the mock-up I used for this over on Behance.
I did design everything else, though.
I drew another OC of mine based off of the same general aesthetic I had for this portrait.
I may end up doing a third one in the long run, in order to complete it all.. Who knows?
I actually finished the Apollo CD design portion of my own personal project that I mentioned back when I posted the Artemis half of the project.
Of course, I’ve made Apollonian gaskets central to the design of this particular set...as well as the sun, because Apollo is a sun god.
My style of procrastinating—work on other things that aren’t immediately productive, but are productive for things later on down the road that I enjoy.
That said, I’m still a sad sap who’s trying to make black and brown work. (But oh boy, can I tell you how much I like dark reds combined with black?)
The first panel is almost done! That said, aiming to the hatching look vaguely like medieval woodcuts is not as easy as I was hoping it would be, so it seems like this might be another one of those time-sink pages. :/
...I think the lesson of today is “Anger spurs me to make a lot of angry typography...and regular typography in general.”
I’ve kind of been on a roll today. I’m extremely upset today because of personal reasons, but I’ve been on a roll in terms of making things.
I’m normally not one to use YELLOW for anything ever, but I felt like it today. Eh.
I’m normally not one to make personal works, but I felt like drawing a personal thing after listening to The Man by The Killers—with a dash of Oh No! by Marina and the Diamonds.
Enjoy the weird vaporwave gender themed drawing.
Greetings and salutations! I'm a graphic designer/illustrator, and this is my Tumblr. Feel free to check my about page for more info about me. Also, I only post my own things here—almost all reblogs will go to @dandyreblogs. Check that out if you're into aesthetics and other curious things.
