I was in a bit of a nihilistic mood for the past few days, and decided to spit this out.
The edge, I know.
The Instagram version of this is so much better, btw. Here is this thing in its non-pixelated glory.
I decided to combine Inktober’s Day 3 theme of “Roasted” and Inktober’s Day 5 theme of “Chicken” in order to make one weird comic idea that’s been on my mind for the past couple of days.
It’s definitely some dark humor. However, it’s something that came to mind because I was thinking about how one of my great-great grandmothers knew how to snap chicken necks with her bare hands, and how distanced I am from that as a modern human who hasn’t really seen a chicken get killed at all. It’s kind of a bizarre thing to think about, really.
Even though I rarely use my main Tumblr for anything, but shhhh, it's what I like everything with.
Anyway, I was tagged by @asphodel-night-adder, and it's posting about five things that make you happy, and tagging the last ten people in your notifications (I'm not counting any bots, galleries, or people that Tumblr seems to refuse to let me tag, FYI)
So, in no particular order, five things that make me happy include
Time spent with my friends playing tabletop RPGs
Cooking with the boyfriend
Petting cute cats and dogs
Pokemon GO
Days off from work where I get art things done
Consequently, I'm tagging @loveisjustabloodsportson @arzeron @plaguenurse @scyllaxcharybdis @saikou0taku @galacticglaciers @violet-ks-garbagery @schreiliebe @goldenspaceoddity and @extinctgender because they meet this criteria.
I’m currently on a Gotham kick--the typeface/font, not the Batman universe city.
Anyway, I doodled this in International Macroeconomics after a bit of thinking on my last self-imposed design challenge, because I wanted to make something that would WORK with the grid layout trend I’ve been seeing...
...this more or less came out as expected. I’m pretty content with it. I’d wager I could use this as a base for some sort of project later on if I got the right photographs and fiddled around with the black space. Or the white space. Doesn’t really matter, I guess!
Guess who updated his own logo to be a bit sleeker. This guy. Guess who's about to put his own portfolio site back up online? This guy. Guess who's going to try to get back into design while we goes back to school for a Statistics degree. This guy. . . . . . #logo #logodesign #redesign #dandyrebel #vector #lettering #wordmark #graphicdesign #design https://www.instagram.com/p/B1aQV6yDhal/?igshid=1xl28l1w76jzj
Probably not the best work, but it’s more or less a second draft of a typographic quickdraw I made when I was irritated at another classmate over trying to lecture me about gender roles.
Also, because I mentioned this guy’s in the Twitch stream earlier today without realizing that I never properly introduced him, this character is not “Vaporwave Trash Child” (as I’m now nicknaming the character on the cover page), I was explaining who on earth the small dude by the door of the first page I’m working on is, and it might not be easy to see a tiny layer label in a Twitch stream, ...I will also show a character design thingy I did a while ago for the small dude by the door on the first page I drew.
I also wrote @plaguenurse‘s comment of “10/10 elf” on there, because I felt like it.
I may also have to fix dem eyebrows, because his eyebrows really shouldn’t be solid if I was planning on him being some shade of blonde.
I decided to go back to Pulse after being a borderline recluse for a year and a half (and forcing myself to go to Savoy two weeks ago after talking through some things.)
I remembered a conversation I had with @plaguenurse after she left a crochet Jotaro Kujo in my car. She left it there in hopes that it would go where it needs to go.
Long story short, there is now a crochet Jotaro Kujo at Pulse that I placed there because I feel like it belongs there. I couldn't articulate to you why I feel the need for it to be there, but I still feel like it belongs there more than it does in my car.
My Type and Design class had us doing a wine packaging project out of the blue.
That said, this is the result of that.
I don't actually consider this to be a proper packaging project, especially considering that I have a larger packaging project on my plate at the moment, and my professor for the class that this is for allowed us to use mock-ups. Incidentally, you can find the mock-up I used for this over on Behance.
I did design everything else, though.
I drew another OC of mine based off of the same general aesthetic I had for this portrait.
I may end up doing a third one in the long run, in order to complete it all.. Who knows?
Greetings and salutations! I'm a graphic designer/illustrator, and this is my Tumblr. Feel free to check my about page for more info about me. Also, I only post my own things here—almost all reblogs will go to @dandyreblogs. Check that out if you're into aesthetics and other curious things.
