Arnook and the council didn't like the idea, since that goes against their culture, but Zuko was raised in a society where gender doesn't determine role. Alternative turn on all the Arranged Marriage AUs: Katara is the firelord. Since she defeated Azula, by all the laws, she's legitly the firelord.

Fire sages: *come to help unconscious Zuko*

Katara: Good, he won, he's now the firelord

Fire sages: no you won you're the firelord

Katara: what

And since she doesn't want to be firelord (yet, it's Katara, give her some time and she'll feel super confortable with power) she arranges a marriage with Zuko so he keeps the power as it should have happened.

Zuko: *regains consciousness * Uh

Katara: *wearing a royal topknot and red robes* So, some things might have happened...

Extra points if it happens so fast he's still unconscious

Zuko: you're the firelord

Katara: yup

Zuko: and you married us

Katara: it was necessary, yes.

On the one hand I feel like Lu Ten absolutely would buy Zuko a bunch of expensive stuffed animals to try to one up the GAang, but on the other hand I really need to resist the urge to give Zuko an army of stuffed animals.

Lu Ten, shatters a window and climbs through it:

Lu Ten, turns around and helps Baby Zuko through it: Breaking and entering is wrong Zu.

Baby Zuko: Okay.

Anyone who tries to tell me that Azula doesn’t end up being the shortest in her family other than Iroh is wrong.

Zuko is taller, Mai is super fucking tall already, Ty Lee gets one of those weird growth spurts at like sixteen (it happened to me I got +2 inches), and Kiyi is eventually taller than Azula too. The entire concept of her being the strongest Firebender ever while she is (conceptually) the smallest is hilarious to me.

Mai: “If you can’t reach it just ask. I’ll get it for you.”

Azula: “Fuck you, I don’t need your help.”

Azula: *starts climbing the library bookshelf to get to the one book she wants all the way at the top*
