NAME: TROLLZ
COMPANY/FRANCHISE: DIC ENTERTAINMENT
STUDIO DAM
TROLL DOLLS
CATEGORY: TV SERIES (ANIMATED)
YEAR: 2005
DESCRIPTION: An animated series based off the Danish line of Troll dolls by Thomas Dam, in an effort to make the toys appeal to a female demographic. Developed by the same studio behind the 2003 Strawberry Shortcake series, this series revolves around 5 teenage trolls who are “best friends for life” (Or BFFL’s). Their world “Trollzopolis” is a world full of magic mixed in with a modern 2000s twist. Each episode has the characters dealing with either story driven quests or fantasy themed slice of life problems with morals, all while facing the evil that desires to take over everyone’s lives. The series also spawned a virtual world and a couple of fashion doll themed merchandise. A season 2 was also planned to continue the story, but due to poor reception the show was cancelled after one season.
MOD THOUGHTS:
1: Ruby to me feels like the epitome of the one toxic girl in the group of friends and idk how to feel about that.
2: Remember kids: It doesn’t matter if your tv series gets bad reviews, as long as it means generating more MONEY AND MERCH! (Trust me take it from DIC Entertainment)
3: …Actually, I kinda want one of those.
