When Did You Decide To Become A Klayley Fan? Do You Ship Klaus And Hayley With More Than One Character

when did you decide to become a klayley fan? do you ship klaus and hayley with more than one character or just with each other?

Actually, it's rather ironic. When I was watching vampire diaries I came across Klaus's character and found out that he was shipped with Caroline. I checked out a few edits to see why it was so popular a ship. Then I decided to check other klaus ships cause the immortal hybrid in love well confused me. I stumbled across Klayley, and even when I knew nothing of their relationship I loved the chemistry. I literally finished season 4 of vampire diaries in haste just to start orignals and I did it to watch klayley interactions exclusively too lol. That's how I became a klayley fan(I shipped them harder the more I watched)

NO, I am exclusively a Klayley fan

After Son of Neptune and except for the Tartarus bit, Percy personality change was so radical and absolutely out of character for him, and the Fandom doesn't talk about it nearly enough. It's literally the character assassination of the main character. How do people not talk about it?

Is...Rick Seriously Implying Percy 'fatal Flaw Is His Loyalty To Friends' Jackson Would...literally Prefer
Is...Rick Seriously Implying Percy 'fatal Flaw Is His Loyalty To Friends' Jackson Would...literally Prefer

Is...Rick seriously implying Percy 'fatal flaw is his loyalty to friends' Jackson would...literally prefer being captured and put in chains and taken to be sacrificed to Gaea...just so he and Annabeth can be together still??? Keep in mind, Percy KNOWS Hedge would have been sold to Cyclops as food (so one friend would be killed) and that Chrysaor would have sold Hazel and Piper to Circe (depending if this is just Rick forgetting Circe got defeated in Olympians or Chrysaor is unaware of that) and given he had no use for Jason (and likely Leo and Frank), its likely he would have killed three more of Percy's friends. And therefore, you think Percy would be happy his friends are safe from that shit, given his fatal flaw.

But...no, Mark Of Athena decides he suddenly would have preferred all that happening just so he and Annabeth won't be apart, meaning Rick wrote Percy forgetting the danger his friends would be in in that situation in favor of Percabeth...which in itself is weird as uh, I know he's got faith he and Annabeth can figure it out, but like, he really wishing he and Annabeth would get into that danger with Gaea??? For someone whose fatal flaw is loyalty to his friends, it really did not pop up here.

kind of related to your post about zoe just now but: what do you think of the hunters in general? I've got a lot of thoughts on them myself.. most of them not that positive lmao lots of "could have been good, but very poor execution" and "sounds cool on the surface, but very questionable when thought about more"

First of all, thank you for the question :)))

Oh god, this might become a slightly longer post, because I have a lot to say about the hunters of Artemis.

From what you’ve written, it sounds like we might have a very similar opinion. I personally think they are one of the worst-written parts of the original Percy Jackson books. I love their idea, I love their basic concept, but their execution was pretty atrocious.

There are four main points regarding them that I want to talk about.

The portrayal of Artemis (though this one is by far not as bad as the others)

2. The behaviour of the huntresses

3. Bianca

4. Lacking Development

Artemis

Now, I know that the gods and goddesses of the Riordan verse, are sanitized caricatures, and shouldn’t be compared to their actual myth versions. I think everyone in this fandom has at least heard some well-founded criticisms regarding the portrayal of Ares, Athena, Aphrodite, Apollo or any of the other gods.

I even understand why Rick Riordan made most of the decisions that he did. Obviously, the gods had to be sanitized for a book series primarily aimed at children, and, to be fair to him, even if their characterizations are a far-cry from their myths and sometimes overly stereotypical (Aphrodite), they are fulfilling the roles they have in this story as deeply flawed, but powerful individuals, because of whose careless mistakes and pride demigods, and other ‘lesser’ beings have to suffer.

And I actually do not hate Artemis’ portrayal that much, if we exclude the behavior of her hunt, and the initiation of Bianca. Her taking Annabeth’s place in holding the sky and her loudly arguing against killing Percy and Thalia at the winter solstice was a great portrayal of her being a patron goddess of children, and the idea of including the hunters of Artemis as a group of girls, both from mortal and immortal parents, who have been hurt by the world, and found a safe place with one another is actually really great. Generally, whenever she appears in the books, I have the feeling she is handled with far more graze and respect than a lot of other godly beings.

However, as someone who very much loves Greek mythology, I just want to point out some small parts, which are not entirely accurate, though, again,  I understand Rick’s reason for omitting them in the context of what he wanted to do with her character and the hunt , and I acknowledge that even in ancient times, there existed a variety of different interpretations of the gods.

(Please note, that while I read original sources like the works of Diodor, Apollodorus, Hesiod, and Euripides, I am not a classicist, and that my knowledge of the greek gods primarily stems from personal research and my own interest. If anyone knows more about Artemis, please feel free to correct me if necessary)

While Artemis is primarily the goddess of the hunt, and in later interpretations of the moon, she is not only the protector of girls, but the patron goddess of children in general and a goddess closely linked to childbirth.

Yes, she expects her followers to remain chaste, but to say that she is completely against men would be a grave mistake. Male followers of Artemis did exist in mythology, most famously Orion, who later became a constellation, and Hippolytus, the son of Theseus and the Amazon Hippolyta.

So, her cold behavior towards Nico and her degrading words towards boys in general is an attribute primarily added by Rick Riordan.

Though, like I said, I understand making certain changes to gods and goddesses, or rather choosing different interpretations of them to have them fulfill a certain role in a book series, so Artemis portrayal itself doesn’t bother me that much.

But if we’re talking about the hunters themselves, things easily take a turn for the worse.

The behavior of the hunters

Now, I understand the hunters point in the story.

A huge theme of Titan’s curse is to explore the difference between old ideals of what heroism entails and the modern take on it, represented through Theseus and Herakles on one side, and Percy on the other. The hunters, and especially Zöe, represent a group, who have suffered through the actions of those old, primarily male heroes, and have developed a strong bias against all boys and men as a result. A bias, Percy is supposed to break in this book.

This, in itself, is a pretty awesome concept. But, like I said, the execution mostly failed.

Most of the Hunters of Artemis in Titan’s curse were written without any nuance, without development and without any sense of self reflection.

To express it plainly, they completely suck. And that hurts to say, especially as someone who is asexual-sex-repulsed and aromantic, because, like I said, they could have been an absolutely amazing part of the overarching story and theme of the book series, but with the way Rick Riordan wrote them, they suck. They’re insufferable.  They’re a group of immortal teenagers with a superiority complex, who act the way right-wing republicans and trump supporters think feminists act like.

They’re completely antagonistic towards the campers at camp half-blood for absolutely no good reason, act really childish and immature, and their overwhelming bias against every male character, especially Percy and Nico, is just plain annoying and goes to a point, where it makes them act like absolute idiots and assholes.

Zöe’s behavior at the meeting to decide who should go on the quest to save Artemis is a pretty good representation of everything I dislike about the hunters.

She doesn’t want to take campers with her on the quest, even though the oracle plainly stated that them working together was the only way for them to succeed:

“You’re missing something as usual,” Thalia said. “Campers and Hunters combined prevail. We’re supposed to do this together.”

“No!”, Zoe said. “The Hunters do not need thy help.”

Immediately afterwards, she makes fun of Silena Beauregard (who is around 14 or 15 at the time, might I add.):

“Percy is right,” Silena Beauregard said. “Two campers should go.”

“Oh, I see,” Zoe said sarcastically. “And I suppose you wish to volunteer?”

Silena blushed. “I’m not going anywhere with the hunters. Don’t look at me!”

“A daughter of Aphrodite does not wish to be looked at,” Zoe scoffed. “What would thy mother say?”

And then, she decisively refuses Percy’s help for the quest, even though he is objectively the best person for the job. I really can’t reiterate enough that Percy is the most accomplished hero present at that meeting. He has successfully led two quests, one to stop a civil war between the gods, the second to recover the golden fleece. Even in comparison to Thalia, Percy is more accomplished and has gained more respect within the mythological world.

As I walked back through the city of the gods, conversations stopped. The muses paused their concert. People and satyrs and naiads all turned towards me, their faces filled with respect and gratitude, and as I passed, they knelt, as if I were some kind of hero. (The lightning thief)

Yet Zoe refuses his help to save the goddess she serves and increases so the risk of failure, simply because he is a boy.

“Oh,” Grover said, suddenly aware of the problem. “Whoa, yeah. I forgot! Percy has to go. I didn’t mean… I’ll stay. Percy should go in my place.”

“He cannot,” Zoe said. “He’s a boy. I won’t have Hunters travelling with a boy.”

Another huge problem in their characterization is their immortality. Here I want to focus again on their ongoing beef with camp half-blood, because, yes, while the campers also act pretty antagonistic in return, I think it’s important to note that most kids at camp half blood are between the ages of 10 and I’d say maybe 17 years old, while the huntresses are immortal.

Now, it’s obviously possible that most of them are still teenagers and haven’t been part of the hunt for that long, but considering the fact that Zoe is over 3000 years old, and could very well be older than most Olympians, the chance of most hunters being older than at least 30, is pretty high, which makes their behavior seem even more ridiculous.

And obviously the whole situation with Bianca paints the hunters in the worst light possible.

Bianca

There are already some pretty good and detailed posts on tumblr regarding the subject of Bianca and the hunters, so I don’t want to dig into this subject too deeply, because this post is already way too long, but you can’t possibly write about the hunters without mentioning her.

The hunters, especially Zoe and Artemis convinced Bianca to join them in a moment of huge distress. Bianca was a twelve-year-old, vulnerable girl, who just found out she was a demigod, almost got kidnapped by the manticore, and watched a girl fall down a cliff, yet they expect her to swear allegiance to them after only a couple of minutes of knowing them.

They paint her this beautiful picture of having no responsibility and a new family, telling her exactly, what she wanted to hear without giving her even a moment to breathe or give her time to talk to her brother or fully think this through.

I want to point out that at this point in time, Artemis had already decided that she needed to go after the monster alone, and knew, that her hunters would spend some time at camp half-blood. But instead of giving Bianca these couple days/ weeks to accept this new reality of the mythological world and get to know both camp half-blood and the hunters, she wants an answer at this very moment,

Yes, Bianca’s answer was rash, and yes, I do think it’s rather cold that she didn’t first talk to Nico about it, but it’s pretty plain to see that she was overwhelmed and pretty much manipulated during this entire conversation.

Later, Zoe decides to take her with her on the quest, even though Bianca is completely unprepared for it. She is probably, aside from Nico, the most unprepared person in the entirety of camp half-blood to go on a quest.

I don’t think I have to explain how terrible of a decision that was.

The hunters are objectively the worst thing that could have ever happened to Bianca and the main reason why she died.

Lacking Development:

Now, all of this, every single flaw I just pointed out, could have actually worked out, if there would have been some sort of change in the hunters’ way of thinking and an acknowledgement that their opinions on boys and males in general are misguided and lead to more harm than good during the course of the books.

Especially after their actions led to Bianca’s death.

Them seeing how much love Nico had for his sister and how much he suffered from her death could have been a great moment for some character development.

But nothing happened.

Camp half blood and the hunters grieving together at the end of Titan’s curse for both Zoe and Bianca could have resulted in a genuine moment of friendship between the two groups, leading to understanding and change.

But nothing happened.

The only person who took responsibility for Bianca’s death at the end of Titan’s curse was fourteen-year-old Percy. The only person who cared enough about Nico to search for him and make sure he was safe, was Percy. The hunters didn’t care at all. Took no responsibility whatsoever.

All that happened at the end of that book was that Thalia became a huntress, and that Zoe and Artemis acknowledged Percy as a hero.

This, while admittedly, a great moment for Percy’s characterization and also somewhat for the character development of Zoe, had very little effect otherwise.

Because, in the end, Zoe and Artemis treated Percy as if he was the exception. As if they had been only wrong about him, and not boys in general. They didn’t revisit their line of thinking, they didn’t self-reflect and they didn’t acknowledge that their bias was utterly flawed, and that they should treat male demigods generally better.

She (Zöe) grasped it contently. “You spoke the truth, Percy Jackson. You are nothing like… like Hercules. I am honored that you carry this sword.”

Then, she (Artemis) turned to me. “You did well,” she said. “For a man.”

Percy Jackson is fundamentally a story about the circle of abuse, and, Percy specifically, breaking that circle, but nothing of note happened with the hunters.

Because even if Zoe had confronted her own bias, (and there is admittedly an argument to be made that she did) she would have been the only hunter to do so. And she died.

Thalia becoming the lieutenant of the hunters as someone who is best friends with Percy and Grover, and who misses Jason more than anything, could have confronted this distorted line of thinking, but the other hunters remain pretty much unchanged in the last Olympian and The Lost Hero.

There were hugs and greetings al around- or at least Thalia was friendly. The other hunters didn’t like being around campers, especially boys, but they didn’t shoot any of us, which for them was a pretty warm welcome. (The last Olympian, chapter 10)

“Oh, no way,” Leo said. “We’ve been sitting in a cave and you get a luxury tent? Somebody give me hypothermia. I want hot chocolate and a parka!”

Phoebe sniffed. “Boys,” she said, like it was the worst insult she could think of. (XXXVI Leo, the lost hero.)

Conclusion:

So, yeah. They had huge potential, both as individual characters and as part of the overarching plot and theme of Percy Jackson, but their execution was absolutely abysmal.

The only possible positive thing I could say about them is that they are at least better than the Amazons (though that is not particularly hard)

I hope my rambling was understandable, it's already pretty late:')

The Percy Jackson Fandom as a whole has this blind misconception that Annabeth is the smartest but Percy is this super powerful but dumb guy who can't do anything without Annabeth.

There is no evidence that proves Annabeth is the smartest, and let us break down the criteria for this.

1)Mythological knowledge:

Annabeth gets full points cause she has an exceptional amount of knowledge regarding almost all sorts of things.

Do we know anyone who knows myths better than her?

Nico and Jason most certainly have just as good theoretical information on Greek and Roman myths.

So, is this category inclusive to Annabeth? No.

Another point is that Percy is so good at adapting that even though he is unaware, almost always of who his opponents are, Percy ways manages to outwit them or beat them.

2)Quick thinking/Adaptation:

Percy Jackson wins no contest here.

Most newer demigods like Hazel and Piper have also shown the ability of quick thinking well.

Frank's tactical abilities are really underrated, along with Jason's .

3)Specialized weapons

The invisibility cap

(It was unusable through the whole of HoO.)

4)Power specific skill set:

Photographic memory

(It's an ability all Athena children probably have)

Natural aptitude for weaponry

(All children of war gods have this)

Trickery

I didn't say manipulation cause Percy is way better manipulator than Annabeth. It's not even comparable.

5)No. of Strategies made/ Perceptive ability/

Percy:

Tricking Crusty

Unraveling Ares's scheme

Unraveling Luke's betrayal

Figuring out use for Hermes's gift in SoM

Proving to camp of Luke's betrayal by tricking him

Helping in Tricking Atlas to lift the weight of the sky

Figuring out Kronos's plan

Planning the entire strategy of Battle of Manhattan

Tricking Gaea into helping him over Phineas

Tricking Chrysaur

Outwitting Geras

Annabeth:

Made the plan to kill Medusa

Taming Cerberus

Tricks Polyphemus, however, she directly copies Odysseus, so it's not an original tactic

Figuring out Quintus' true identity (along with Percy)

Activates Deadleus's defense mechanisms

Tricking priestesses of Roman deity

Tricking and trapping Arachne

I think based on all this, there's sufficient information that dispels the misebelief that Percy is somehow dumb and Annabeth is the smartest

Percy: Whenever life throws lemons at me (and by life, I mean the gods), I do my best to roll with the punches. Dodge what I can, and divert the rest.

Percy: Mom and dad say that I'm smart, adaptable, and powerful? Which is probably one of the best compliments I've ever gotten.

Percy: Not that I get many compliments, haha.

Percy: Although sometimes Annabeth likes to blame me for the lemons that life throws at me.

Annabeth, angry in the distance: Percy, how dare you get yourself blown up on Mt. Helens, and then take two whole weeks to recuperate with Calypso, of all beings?! In the middle of my quest!?

Annabeth, getting closer but still angry: Percy, how dare you get kidnapped by Hera and get your memory stolen? If you ever do that to me again [redacted threats]

Percy, edging away: Annabeth is very fond of victim blaming me. It took me years of therapy to realize that the pain others feel when I'm hurt is not my fault, and even longer to stop feeling guilty about it.

Percy, preparing to flee: Anyways, when Annabeth is mad at me, there's a 50-50 chance that she just looks like she's going to hit or judo-flip me, or if she'll actually do it.

Percy, jumping on top of Mrs. O'Leary's back: Been there, endured that, 10/10 would not recommend repeating that experience again. On that note, I gotta run. Bye!

Percy and Mrs. O'Leary: *disappear into the nearest shadow*

Annabeth, arriving: Percy Jackson, stop hiding from me you coward!!

It's only in Percy Jackson Fandom where shipping anything other than the main couple seemingly warrants death sentence.

Every other fandom explores so many other ships as shipping between characters helps in finding out how far the depth of their relationship might go.

Personally, I have always loved the idea of what Perachel could have been if Uncle Rick had actually tried. Imagine:

Part 1

Percy staying up thinking about this mortal he accidentally ran his sword through; she looked furious and confused and long after its over he is left wondering if that's how his mother felt when she met his father. He wonders it ceaselessly at times.

Rachel living in fear of everything she sees, plagued by dreams and visions, and this guy who ran her through with a literal sword calling her a mortal and surprised she can even see the sword just straight up leaves, taking all the answers with him. Long after it's happened, all she's left with is a canvas filled with the sketches of a sea-green eyed guy.

Then fate connects them yet again because Percy needs her. It starts with his need to fulfill the quest and her need for answers, but the awe Percy must have felt at Rachel's courage through the whole quest despite the incessant quips from Annabeth. He is sorry then that he has dragged someone like her to her death and if that weren't enough they run into the Titan King and he knows that maybe he has doomed them all and Rachel, mortal and unreliable according to Annabeth , throws a hairbrush at the literal actual Kronos himself.

On the flip side, Rachel knows for sure that whatever happens with her visions she will always dream of the sea green eyed hero. The images are everywhere. Him fighting, him negotiating, leading, saving them so she draws and draws and hopes it stops.

It has been noted somewhere in the Fandom once that the only reason Rachel was attracted to Percy was because he introduced her to a whole new world as if that isn't reason enough, as if they need a reason. As if it's not happened before with The Sea God and the Queen among mortals.

It doesn't stop for either of them cause now Rachel knows there's a prophecy hanging over Percy's head, and Percy knows she will see its outcome. So they talk of anything but this, whatever they can because neither of them wants to see how it ends, for the world and for them.

Long before Blackjack crashes his hooves on Paul's Prius, he knows it's coming; the end of the world, and it's far too late to look back. He leaves Rachel there because he is never taking her on a mission again, Morpheus knows he has enough nightmares of something happening to her.

Rachel watches him leave as a prickling at the back of her head tells her one of them isn't returning and no matter how wrong it is, she wishes against all odds that it won't be him.

After that, Rachel has only her visions to keep her company. She has started seeing someone's past , it's not his, but if she tries hard enough, she sees him once or twice. She commits the visions to memory, immortalizing them in art.

Percy doesn't speak to her for a good while after that, not because he doesn't want to, he would do anything to speak to her instead of doing this but his life's already forfeit so he might as well save the world. But he doesn't need to speak to her; they talk best in their visions. When of present, they are always of her. He understands why he sees them, for it's necessary to know what she sees, for she can't tell him, but he's glad for the excuse of it. He gets to see her, and he stays sane.

Yup, she's certifiably insane when she gets in a helicopter to see him, but he needs to know.

He was quite prepared for it, his death and her possibly becoming the Oracle later on. He knew it would happen. He is glad in some part of him that he would die long before it comes to fruition, that he would die in a world where they were together.

It would be their shared tragedy, them fulfilling their destinies as he escapes the divine while she ties herself to them.

Rachel had prepared for the same. She could give up over men , she was certain she would never think of them again after Perseus Jackson dies; it would be her eternal mourning and if someone asks she might tell them that the Spirit of Delphi lost her favored hero to her own prophecy.

But Fate's far too cruel.

Rachel is euphoric. He won't die, HE WON'T DIE. He's NOT the hero. The implications don't set in until she is facing him in the Throne room of Olympus. She says the things she doesn't even mean so she can soften the blow. She sees the break in him in his eyes as they share a last glance instead of a last kiss.

It clicks for him after Luke dies a hero. The bittersweet pang of triumph and loss. Blackjack is gone, and she's taken him. He isn't nearly as furious over that as he is about what she is to do.

He doesn't know if the curse is broken for sure, and he definitely doesn't want her to be the test run. Does she not know visions of her ending up like May Castellan are what breaks him in his worst nightmares.

He is the one who sees her take the oath, as she breaks what's left of them. A moment before all things come crashing down, she looks at him, and he looks back. The Oracle of Delphi and The Savior of Olympus have roles to play and loving the other isn't written in fates or destiny but they share one last vision of a perfect kiss as they resign themselves to their fate for the rest of their life; Their destinies forever entwined but never joined.

....Part 2 pending

(Also going to write headcanons of just perachel things and there are many so wait up)

Part 2 of the fic: [For those who haven't read part 1 yet, check the reblogs before this one]

Poseidon remembers being here in this apartment before, vividly. Moments with Percy and Sally are all vivid, have always been. He will remember them for as long as the tides churn and the waves crash, for what mortals might call eternity, yet far past it.

Yet he feels a tug of something unknown rise somewhere beneath his veins. It's almost apprehensive. He doesn't like the feeling. He shouldn't even be capable of feeling it, but Perseus has always made him feel too human. But he has learned to accept it, for it has always pushed him to do right by his son. For that alone he shall tolerate it.

Perseus opens the door just before he contemplates ringing the doorbell, as he knew he would. Percy's already keen senses have sharpened to even greater heights in the recent months, making him hypersensitive to everything, especially godly presences. It reminds him of the harsh admonition he owes the Olympian Council for his son's suffering. Poseidon's eyes shift as they always do, scanning Percy for any signs of discomfort or pain or a wound. He can't explain the sensation that ebbs and flows; he knows still that it's a very pleasant feeling when he finds Percy clad in what he has learned is called a sweatshirt, looking at ease and almost enthusiastic.

That feeling expands when Perseus grins at him in that same joyous way he has come to adore. "Thought I sensed you. Come on in, Dad." Invites Percy, and he tries not to let the intense satisfaction at being called "Dad" show, especially when the Blowfish man was also present. He finds Sally's gaze almost immediately and nods in the soft manner that comes to him as naturally as loving Sally did, as loving Percy does, though he is not a soft God. He would speak to Sally first if he had not come here with a prior agenda. His eyes sweep the room , especially the trinkets that might belong to Percy.

Lastly, and only because he must, his eyes settle on the insignificant child of Athena. She sits on the couch and looks tense. Ah, good, she has a good sense to be afraid then. Percy, who would usually take a seat beside her, does not, seating across her instead, and that pleases him. His son and the girl have had some problems as he anticipated they would. It is only natural that a child of Sea would not get along with the oppressive methods of the girl, especially one with such pure essence as Percy.

Without much effort he levels her with the same stare he once subjected the Ithacan nuisance of a king to, and he can feel her heart race with fear, watch her gulp in trepidation especially as her mind raced to try and supress the reactions she wouldn't ever be able to control in his presence.

It's only after his son looks strangely at him that he deigns to take a seat, besides Perseus. He feels the Blowfish man leaves out of nervousness while Sally gives him one last look and retires, too. Perseus settles comfortably against the couch, at ease even when his aura is pressuring the girl to death. This alone solidifies his decision. Percy is an ocean of power, and the girl is not even a drop. It would be acceptable if the girl had a pure and burning soul like Sally's which would even put a god's presence to test, but she is in all ways ordinary.

"Sir," the girl begins as if she has some stature here to speak first. He despises her even more when she looks at Percy as if his son is in anyway responsible for her misery that she has brought upon herself. His burst of fury is interrupted by Sally's voice calling out to Percy to come help her with the cooking. Perseus levels one look between them and then meets his gaze with what Poseidon considers to be a challenging look. His own lips curve at the sight. Exceptional, defiant, and as vast as the ocean, his son truly is the perfection of the sea personified. "Worry not, Perseus, the girl will live. Go do what you planned to do with Sally. And finish packing your essentials, though it's unnecessary as you will be provided with everything you ask in your room at Atlantis."

His son sighs and shakes his head in amusement before retorting, "Of course she will live, or you would have me and Mom to deal with. Also, for the last time, Dad, her name is Annabeth."

Poseidon offers only a raised eyebrow in response as Percy leaves to join Sally ,chuckling his way out of the room, unintentionally missing the girl's repeated panicked stares his way.

He tries to remember whatever guidelines Amphitrite reminded him of so as to not upset Percy by accidentally smiting the girl. "Speak properly, girl. I have not the time for you. You are already taking some of my time with my son. It's only because it is his request that I tolerate this at all."

The girl bristles, "My Lord Poseidon, I don't understand why I cannot accompany Percy to wherever you are taking him." She says finally and desperately and Poseidon's eyes narrow dangerously on her frantic hand movements.

"I will sooner die than have a spawn of the wisdom goddess be allowed to enter the gates of Atlantis. Your accursed mother and her spawns lack many a traits suitable for a match worthy of Perseus's attention, but you , girl, are unworthy on all accounts." His voice is calm and deadly, a tsunami lying in wait. He has never used this voice in Percy's vicinity, barring that one time he had yet to confirm Percy's presence upon his throne. But this occasion called for it.

Before the girl could babble another useless statement he continued.

"My son has no obligation to cater to your comfort by sacrificing his. You require Perseus's presence as a shield against your nightmares when you are the reason for his. My son is not to be used for your safety. His is far more important, which I will offer him in spades whether or not he joins me in Atlantis. Your dependence on my son to function is not a significant enough act to require my attention and especially not Percy's. Precisely when your foolish and delusional ideals and beliefs have almost led to his demise. ESPECIALLY WHEN MY SON JUMPED IN THE PIT DUE TO YOUR IGNORANCE AND HUBRIS. WHEN HE SUFFERED AND LAMENTED DUE TO YOUR CONTROLLING NATURE AND DELUSIONAL BELIEFS."

He had not raised his voice, no, but his words were curled in a power so ancient, in a hatred so deep, they had the girl trembling, her eyes gathering with tears borne of terror.

"He was crossing a line, I just... just wanted to protect him." The girl barely choked out, her voice hoarse and trembling. The words only served to flame his rage even further.

"You, you insignificant, ordinary child of Athena presume to command and berate my son, a Prince of the Sea, and Olympus's savior on what powers of his he should tap into? How his actions, which ended up saving your life as well, were WRONG? WRONG? As if someone like you would understand the intricacies or limits of such power, especially Perseus's boundless power-"

Poseidon stops his rage filled voice as soon as he feels Percy's presence behind him. He had used the mist to barr most of the sound even from other gods and demigods, but of course, his son would be able to tell the changes in energy that accompanied Poseidon's anger. All his children were of the sea but none more so than Percy. One day, he would be far more, but there's time still.

Percy put himself between Poseidon and the girl who looked half dead just from their conversation alone. "Dad, why don't you join Mom and Paul for a bit. We were just about to pack some stuff for me. I need to talk to Annabeth, and then we will head down to Atlantis." Percy interjected, his voice soft and casual, but a glint in his son's eye let him know that Percy wouldn't let him push this. Poseidon readily agreed, getting up to join Sally and the Blowfish man. Perhaps he could convince Sally to let Percy extend his stay even more. Ah, yes, that would be good.

As he walked inside, he imparted the accursed girl one last message, spoken in her mind so she could burn it , etch it in her memory forevermore, unforgotten even in death, "You know what I did to Odysseus for merely stabbing Polyphemus's eye, a child of mine, not particularly favored but my child all the same. What then do you think I will do to you, the one who has put my son in harm's way and has almost led him to his demise more than once? A son whom I favor so? Whom I love so? Remember, the only thing keeping you alive is Percy's love for you. Know your place and allow my son his freedom and happiness or know his true worth and change your delusional and hubris laden ways to try and measure up to my son's worth in some miniscule way possible. Not that I expect much from likes of Athena's spawn. For your transgressions are too great."

He didn't bother to hear the choked up conversation between the girl and Percy. He had much to look forward to this day with Percy joining him in Atlantis.

Tyson has been jumping around ever since he heard of it. He had to do much to convince the boy to let him fetch his big brother alone. Triton wouldn't admit it, but he had lessened his workload, and Rhodes and Benthesikyme hadn't bothered hiding their enthusiasm. He had a sense Kympoleia would find a way to storm in herself. He had much to speak to her about, especially after what happened with his son. Even Amphitrite had given him an impatient look this morning, that and whatever Delphin and the rest of his council had going on amongst themselves. He had only caught the words "Young Prince's welcome party."

Whatever it was, he intended to make Percy's stay as long, comfortable, and joyous as possible. And none would get in his way of that least of all someone as insignificant as the spawn of the wisdom goddess. After all, there might even be enough peace in Atlantis for Percy to see the glaring transgressions of the girl and rid himself of her repulsive presence.

WHO HERE THINKS THAT WE SHOULD'VE GOTTEN MORE ANNABETH AND POSEIDON MOMENTS? You know how Athena disapproves of and threatened Percy? Well………….DO THAT WITH POSEIDON AND ANNABETH! Let them meet. Let Annabeth squirm. Let Poseidon smile, but let it not quite reach his suddenly cold green eyes. Let him size her up, and let her be found wanting. LET HIM SILENTLY THREATEN HER NOT TO HIT PERCY AGAIN! Let him disapprove of Annabeth's nickname for him! Let Percy defend it, defend Annabeth from Poseidon! Let Poseidon tell Percy that if things don't work out (in a way that he implies that he hopes it doesn't work out) that he can hook up with a sea nymph or naiad or something! I just feel like this was SUCH a missed opportunity. To show that Poseidon loves Percy and thinks that he can do better than a plain daughter of Athena! (At least Poseidon thinks so).

Can someone write this, please? I would, but I already have something else going on.

I wish Rick would do this in the show.

@lady-menrva, how do you like this one?

Random question that popped in my head.

what if The Percy Jackson universe was Real??? Like I mean the characters, the Gods, The monsters, Everything. And do you think that Percabeth would last if they were a Real Life Couple?? Would any of the relationships last if they were Real??? Would Percy and Annabeth even like each other if they were real people??? Im genuinely curious

I think Percy and Annabeth as two people are realistically very incompatible.

1. Annabeth literally projects her mother's Poseidon hate on Percy for no absolute reason in the first book, and let's just say her behavior is nothing short of absolutely unpleasant towards Percy.

When they finally do bond, it's never because of something they have in common but because they have gone through the same set of circumstances.

2. Their whole entire relationship is completely based on trauma bonding. Their relationship is entirely based on being each other's only company through dangerous experiences.

3. Percy due to his deep self esteem issues sees Annabeth as the only person who will love him despite all his flaws and thus has this blatant misconception that no one except for Annabeth will ever love him which is a complete and utterly horrible misunderstanding and an absolute lie.

But he is so terrified of losing the one person he thinks loves him for himself that he doesn't even try to entertain other relationships even if it's to get an idea about how relationships work.

And when he finally does with Rachel, he finds himself much more relaxed, happy going, and content with her than Annabeth, and despite all that realization, Uncle Rick chose to shove Percabeth down readers' throats.

4. The purely toxic way in which Annabeth assumes some sort of ownership over Percy is truly repulsive.

And don't get me started upon how awfully toxic her response to Rachel's mere presence was both to Rachel and to Percy despite them not even dating yet or at all.

5. Not to mention Percy is a character who has extreme issues with self-esteem and yet Annabeth insists on calling him a nickname that at its core means dumb and Percy is no way dumb at all maybe oblivious but not dumb.

Percy is shown repeatedly on edge around Annabeth, and due to her controlling nature but he, in his own words, chalks it up to healthy fear. (There's no such thing as a healthy fear when it comes to your significant other)

No healthy relationship should, never I mean, never ever contain even a hint of fear. NEVER.

6. Annabeth is and has always been openly insensitive or disregarding of Percy's trauma with Gabe and even when he tries to talk about it she shuts him up by laughing at him, laughing at an ABUSE victim trying to open up.

All in all Percabeth shippers may preach what they want but Percabeth is a very toxic relationship. Because it doesn't matter how many other good moments there were it matters that there were this downright horrible moments.

7. And think on this logically. Percy and Annabeth have literally nothing in common. NOTHING. No hobbies, not aspirations in life, not their perspectives on life literally nil.

So if you are telling me two people like that are going to end up having a long, fulfilling relationship, then yeah, no, you are only fooling yourself.

In real life with actual dating they wouldn't even last six months, even that's too long.

Good news: Greek gods are real

Bad news: Greek gods are real

(But that's someone else's problem, ideally Percy's)

I don't have words for this dear. I died gushing over this. It might quite possibly be the nicest thing that's happened to me. I swear you are turning me emotional. When I find you Kris, when I find you. As soon as I get someone to resurrect me, that is. It's not like death can keep me anywhere.

But seriously, this is so awesome. Which is to say you are so awesome. I am not even sorry that Percy was bullied into the pink cake mission.

"Hey, would you believe the gate out of the Underworld opens in that parking lot near you? Me neither . Brought gifts for you and chocolates for your boyfriend as compensation for dealing with us! "

Happy Valentine's!!! ❤️❤️❤️

💐 🌹 🌸 🏵 🌼

Damn. I don't think I have ever been wished that before. Thank you so much!!!

[I would use emojis, but I dislike them, I hope the exclamations are evidence enough of how happy I am]

*whispers discreetly* Are we still getting together for literary inspiration and tax benefits? Never made it official enough.

Happy Valentines Day to you too, dear @forgechildofheph !!!

(I used my feelings quota of the day all up processing this. You better pay me back tomorrow.)
