Gr12 art project inspired by ___'s photomontage art style. This is a project I was dreading when I took gr12 art. I'm not a photographer and I was not anticipating making anything that I'd like. Surprisingly, I really, really liked this project.
Me and my partner took my father's gopro and canon camera and went to the local creek to bother some salmon.
I did make a digital version of it to figure out the scaling I'd need to print everything at. I then maximized profit by nesting the pictures on 8.5x11" files so that I'd spend the least amount of money printing them π₯(because we had to do that ourselves, the school doesn't have coloured printers π)
Lowkey there was only one other person whose project I liked for this assignment. A lot of them were really messy and didn't have any grounding elements. For this one I put a lot of focus on the logs in the middle. And I did splice together a lot of pictures to form the whole log, but I made sure they were all lined up so the full form was still distinguishable.

Behold! Four versions of the same drawing
Started in 2022, along with a lot of omori wips, and then didn't finish it until almost a year later. π
All in all, is a fun piece. I enjoy the nonsense perspective 10/10 love nonsense perspectives ππ―ββοΈπͺπͺ

Intro assignment for gr10 art. Had to incorporate a pattern somewhere.
The background isn't a solid pattern because i didn't have enough time to ink it all.

Wait this was supposed to be the first post??? I didn't get around to cleaning it up until ~3 weeks after I'd queued up all of the tumblr posts π
Ig I'll see how making the post date in the past works >:)
Anyways what I can remember of the prompt was that we were supposed to make masks that represent a specific emotion. We were in pairs and I did it with my friend.
Making it out of wood was not a requirement, but I'd gotten it in my head and I knew my dad wld be able to cut the wood for me πI made a paper mockup, and then my dad took care of cutting and gluing together the pieces. Two masks were made, one for my friend and one for me.
iirc, the emotion I was going for was happiness, but it really doesn't read that way. There used to be paper fluff stuff hanging from the back, but the birds ate that stuff up. They also bit a whole bunch of chunks into it π
I don't remember what happened for it to break that badly. Prolly fell

Poster I whipped up relatively quickly for Anifest.
WWW airbrush I actually love sketching/rendering with the airbrush it's so fire. Also continued my saga of rendering in black and white and then adding colours
Sukuna is my second favourite character from jjkβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ(right behind Nobaraπ₯³π) (I'm happy on the outside screaming crying on the inside)
If I really wanted to profit off of JJK I would've made a poster of Gojo (or at least that's what was said to me, and it makes sense), but I don't really like Gojo. Idk that's the thing about free will. Quite a few instances of "if I did x it would be more profitable/popular to the general public" crossed my mind, but truly I cannot make art if it's not something that I won't really like. Profit isn't enough to motivate me.
(although it also just feels wrong to make art for that sole purpose -- same feeling of ick as when I realised I was making art for more likes in the past)

Another painting I did that utilizes the peeling canvas trick.
I wasn't too happy with this when I finished, but I really like it now. It's just a fun little piece.

Ohhhh here I am, milking the Big Indie Show. I quite liked ep 1, but I've been on the fence about 2 and 3, since the 'find an exit' central focus has kind of been dropped. I get that the exit was fake, but I still feel that Pomni should be a lot more annoying (ask questions) about anything and everything regarding how the circus works. It's only at ep 3 (at time of creating this post), so we'll see how I feel about the future eps.
Really like the pose I came up for her here. Very anxious π. That's the thing I've really enjoyed while making the sticker designs, I really want to convey the character's personality with their pose.

Still didn't do a sketch for this one (which was scary cos it's a person), but I did do a little thumbnail sketch on another page so that I would have a clear idea of what pose I wanted. I do think that the sketch's pose is more dynamic, but I like the final piece.

This idea came from Halloween day 2020, and I brainstormed possible ideas Oct/Nov 2020. This whole endeavor was inspired by seeing articulated finger extensions on youtube.
This took a lot of time. There were quite a lot of lulls, but days upon days of work went into this. I didn't start taking progress pictures until ~October 2021, so a lot of the process just lives in my head.
By far the most difficult part of the project was figuring out the template for the crow mask itself. I knew of the whole wrap a body part in clingwrap and then duct tape to get a template, which I did around my head to get the inner headpiece, but that only works for fitted things.
I did a whole bunch of tomfoolery over gr10 winter break to get around this. I make like a paper mockup of my head, and then I built off of it with paper tubes to get general shape and structure of the crow mask down. This took so long omfg. I wish I'd taken a picture. I made a huge mess of the house for weeks over the break as I slaved over this stupid shite. Once i'd gotten it,,, it was just like,,,, kinda rudimentarily figuring out what size the foam pieces would be π
It worked out eventually, but man was it annoying π
I don't think I worked on it much after that until sept/oct 2021. Beginning of october was the final rush because I really wanted it done for the halloween.
When gluing together the pieces, I didn't have any barge contact cement so it was a struggle. Initially I was using a contact cement, but it didn't work well with the EVA foam, and I found that I was able to just pull the glue off once it'd become tacky (wouldn't even damage the foam - was just laying on top of it). So I used a lot of superglue and... other types of glue I can't remember to force em together.
Used a dremel tool and foam clay to smoothen the seams and add more details.
Magnets are embedded in the jaw for movement and to hold the jaw in place. Initially, I wanted the lower jaw to move up and down as I move my jaw, but I never figured out a way to get the torque to achieve that (and it was too late to go down that rabbit hole once i'd realised that the jaw wasn't working as I'd hoped).
Painting was a couple layers of mod podge followed by acrylic paint and then a couple sealing coats of varnish.
Teeth were made out of peachy-coloured polymer clay and glued into the mouth after it was painted. They were used to mould the foam clay gums prior to painting.
Then it was done!
