Still Life Assignment

October 23, 2020 - November 6, 2020

Still life assignment done when school was half online-half offline. I remember my friend (who just took art to get the required arts credit) put vaseline over his camera so the teacher wouldn't be able to see that he hadn't done any work on his πŸ’€

Had fun making this, didn't take too too long (relative to my other still lifes)

"W" Painting

December 25 - 26, 2024 Acrylic on Canvas

This painting has an actual name, but I'm sticking with the moniker " 'W' Painting" (as dubbed by my family/friends because there's a W sticker on the top left corner) until I actually finish it.

Painting I frantically did because I was having a Terrible Time and when that happens you paint little guys having a Terrible Time.

Wanted to finish this before I moved over the spring/summer for coop but just didn't have the time for it, so it won't get done until 2025 fall the earliest.

I look at this and realise there's Anatomy Problems / a fundamental difference in the flow/positioning of the characters between the initial sketch and where I'm at now. There's no turning back now, and I'm still happy with what I have, still. Just have to figure out that damned arm when I go to finish this. But it's also a fun loose painting, anatomy doesn't have to be flawless (call me a part of the 'it's my style' club πŸ˜›). Pro tip when drawing characters interacting --uhh refine the sketch before rendering πŸ€ πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Another painting I did at the cafe. Used the metallic white as my base, and then sketched a fish skeleton on it using my silver metallic pen. Then smoothed out and fixed the forms with a damp brush.

I like the effect using the metallic-on-metallic paints give. Depending on the angle you're looking at it you can either clearly see the fish, or see nothing at all. I think it's neat

Beetlejuice | Sandworm

Beetlejuice | Sandworm

Here's the start of an era. I started making sticker designs because I got a stickermule deal of 10 stickers for 1$. I thought that it meant 10 sticker designs (it wasn't LMAO), but the misconception was good because it made me make 10 different designs >:J

Starting off strong w a sandworm sticker because great monster sticker design,,, I should make a beetlejuice illustration sometime im obsessed

Anyways, I was way too motivated for this when I should have been doing classwork, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

I might go back and redraw it in a more tim burton esque style, but I also like it how it is so we'll see.

Also this is the start of me being consistent with my 'signature' and adding annoying ass watermarks because stickers are quite possibly the most stealable designs. (and I don't trust yall)

Hades | Zagreus

Hades | Zagreus

September 7, 2024 Time: 7:08

Redraw of the zagreus sticker I made previously.

I really liked making this one, and I like the way it turned out (actually looks like zag πŸ˜±πŸ˜±πŸ˜±πŸ—£οΈ). The Hades style is so fun and cool (it in of itself is inspired by mike mignola, among other influences, so ofc I love it).

Used ibispaint's hard japanese brush, which was really nice to use. I like the different line width variation you can get with it.

Just a little watercolour painting. I remember I was trying to get into tiktok because I'd seen that artists could get more traction there, so I made of one this painting's process. Don't got it anymore 😒

The Babs | Tyrian

This one took me foreverrrr. I can see why the others' designs are so cartoony in comparison - lot faster for me to draw.

Explored what this guy would like when angry, and I like what I came up with

June 2023 - October 30, 2024

~June - July 2023 - Preliminary Sketch in Krita

October 10, 2024 - Transfer to IbisPaint

October 29-30, 2024 - Majority of the illustrating process

Time: 19:58 Krita + IbisPaintX

This has been in the works for a looong time. Making posters out of it for Anifest finally gave me the motivation to work on it. Really surprised I got it done in time, too.

I think it's so magical to be able to go back to a wip like this and actually finish it. Not everything has to stay unfinished and I like collecting my wips in the event like something like this happens. A burst of motivation years later.

Anyways, 3-point perspective (which I have little experience with) of a very complicated building with hard-to-come-by ref pics?!?!! ...Yeah, I like throwing myself into the deep end with new things (see: MIA poster).

The 3-point perspective was so damned hard. Out of the 20 hours I put into this on IbisPaintX (which doesn't include my first struggles with it in Krita), ~6h was for sketching because it was killinggg me. I also went back and forth with IbisPaint and Krita during the sketching phase because it was a REAL struggle.

(Also I downloaded the mp4 video to check the above times (the video was bugged and would freeze at ~1.5h in IbisPaint) and encoding it took over an hour πŸ’€))

I just kept fucking up the perspective. Idek how because I was using the perspective tools but it kept happening (I think I was accidentally shifting them in IbisPaintX so it was ruining me) (also that's one thing that Krita is actually better at. while their process to set up the rulers is much more complicated, you can use them all simultaneously. having to switch btwn them in ibispaint was making me go crazy) especially for the curved roof bits. Those underwent a loooot of revisions.

Rendering it was really fun, spent practically all my time out of lecs to work on this before the deadline to send the poster designs off to get printed.

Actually really proud of myself for this one. I especially like the gold bits

Omori wips, but four of them are wips of one piece that I never found a good composition for xd

2017

Multi-canvas painting I did. I don't know what gave me this idea, but it was crazy. Can't believe I made this back in 2017.

Made spacers out of foam boards from the dollar store so that the canvases would be held in the final configuration during painting.

Bought my first ever non dollar store paint from DeSerres for this project. Still have quite a few colours (namely the red 😍)

Shout out to my father for making the frames ‼️‼️
