Never gonna get over BUBAIGAWARA JIN looking at the number two hero Takami Keigo and feeling bad for him. How hard did Hawks work that sad trapped hero schtick for Jin of all people to be like, "that kid needs help." ??????? Or does Hawks like drop the mask once in a while to disassociate and everyone kind of gets the "ah this man has been through some fucked up shit" vibes?????

Imagine a twenty-something Jin, at the height of his power as an infamous criminal (pre-clone fight obv), encountering extremely reluctant preteen thief Keigo (never scouted by the commission) who’s been burdened with the responsibility of supporting himself and his mom.

Maybe at first Jin thinks taking the kid under his wing is a good way to pawn off work on someone other than his increasingly-belligerent clones, but then he (they) get(s) fond, and somehow within a few years he finds himself sponsoring Keigo’s fledgling vigilante career.

It’s sort of a Robin Hood situation but not: Jin steals from the rich to give to his new pseudo-family, but this enables Keigo to do (unlicensed) rescue heroics, so… net positive in terms of morality?? That’s what he’s going with anyway.

everyone, from characters in the manga to fandom: hawks just...optimistic isn't he? Wow, Horikoshi is just not going to make him reckon with what he did, continue on thinking he was right to murder twice, continue his parasocial and creepy obsession with Endeavor and the Todoroki family, wow his writing is SHIT.

Horikoshi: *word for word makes Hawks talk about liking Jin in the same way Toga does when she wants to "become" someone and they both use the same language when they tell someone they like them*

But Hawks has always lived with what seems to be a sheet of glass between the people around him and himself. Too many lies and misdirection to be real. The League, in comparison, are raw, gaping wounds in the open. Everyone can see the hurts because they wear them on their sleeves as badges of honor. There’s no hiding who they are or their real natures. And that’s why he suspects the connections are deep as they are. It’s something Hawks can’t really replicate. Which poses a problem, of course. If the early bird gets the worm, then Hawks needs to sow seeds of doubt and discord between Jin and them now, not later, if he wants to keep him.
