Took Alexandria Neonakis' Schoolism class on costuming, and the main assignment was to design the costume for a character in a book, movie, etc. Her example was Tom Bombadil and Goldberry, so I designed Mina Harker from the book Dracula! I tried to make her outfits as close to 1880/1890's designs as I could. Her clothes are of an older style, as she was a school teacher and Jonathan had only just been certified, so in my mind they didn't have a lot of money, and then...Dracula happened.
Very informative class, would recommend!

I’m so fucked up about simon. His character arc in the main series was set up that ice king becoming a simon again was inevitable. It wasn’t a matter of if, but when and how.
but now that it’s happened, it’s the worst thing that could’ve happened to him.
he had friends! a special secret club of wizards he had matching rings and would go on roadtrips with! he wasn’t even really a problem anymore!
betty’s character is so fantastic. she traveled through time for him. She went insane for him. She become a god for him. But him being Simon was easier for her. Did she ever truly consider if it was what he wanted? She’s not even there with him. She’s not there and now he’s Simon and he’s more isolated than ever.
He lives with humans! At this point, Finn has known him longer as Simon than he knew him as Ice King. Ice King is just an old memory now. But Simon is over a thousand years old. “Simon Petrikov” is just an old memory too. He’s human again, but not really.
What’s worse is how smart he is. He’s an intelligent and emotionally competent man. So he really, truly, profoundly knows how deeply fucked up his life is. He’s so aware of it.
wouldn’t it be easier? If he was stupid and naive and magical? does he miss magic? maybe not ice, but magic itself? would he try to learn? Does he remember the password to Wizard City? Would they even still let him in? there’s a school. He could learn magic again. but would he? Doesn’t Simon Petrikov like learning about magic?
Everything Stays. He’s still here. But he’s different now. Everything is different now except it’s not because the world stayed the same and he’s the one who changed. He can’t go back. Except he did, in a way, and it wasn’t even his choice.

I feel it's important you all know this is the cat Astarion is based on.
If there is a story you wanna tell, but you don't think you will ever have the time or resources to organize and tell it ""properly"" as like...a novel or a comic or whatever, it can absolutely just be...a bunch of brain storm-y blog posts and sketches that you share and compile over time on your blog. That is still a story. It is still a format. In theory, it might not be the "best, most effective" format...but in practise, the best, most effective format is the one that is accessible enough to let you get your ideas and narratives out at all♡
And, yanno--it is just nice to be able to give folks some context for your characters n stuff :3c

Imogen's immense capacity for empathy for things wriggly and "wrong" and lonely, things grotesque on the outside with a pure sort of want a sincerity, a truth on the inside.
Ashton, feeling fundamentally broken, fighting for good, for a purpose, telling her she has quite a crew of broken things following her. Saying there's a reason for that. Himself and Laudna.
(Ashton counting themself and Laudna as kindred spirits, Ashton looking at Imogen and seeing some reflection of what Laudna sees.)
(Imogen saying - Ashton is good. That they're special. Imogen who does lethal things when it needs it, who has almost taken a level of satisfaction in Ashton's approving assessments of her lethality, her decisionmaking.)
Imogen says she likes the All Minds Burn, she actually does, Ashton agreeing, thanking her for backing them. Imogen and things cast away, things found as horrifying, and an almost inexplicable empathy. Ashton and things to fight for, things to throw their lot behind until the light in their skull goes out.
Its like, both so sudden and also- no i kind of get it. I get it. They're complimenting each other very intensely, openly, they're both laughing with a weird seed of a telepathic brain between both of them, walked into a den of danger and back out again and like. No. I get it.

It happened again
after eight years, I finally updated my huge Historical Fashion Reference & Resources Doc! Now in the form of a MUCH more easily updated Google Doc with better organization, refreshed links, and five more pages of books and online resources.
I know tumblr hates links, but it’s worth it for a doc that I can now update with far more regularity going forward! RIP to the original, you did your duty for far longer than you should have. 😔🙏🏼
Thinking about Ashton Greymoore being a former (?maybe current?) aasimar with luxon brain and titan blood and what an absolutely batshit combination of powers that is. They’re just a soup of divine primordial dunamancy and realistically none of those should’ve ever been combined I love them so much
