Honest to god makes me wonder how Sollux would even begin to navigate that mess of Eridan being different variants of ace in every quadrant, because my own variety of aroace is "well a relationship is just being Besties but with kisses and hand holding and there's literally no other differences"(honest to god it makes me sound like my ideal relationship is just what I headcanon moirails are) and I don't know???if I could see Eridan with that perspective??? Or what a Sollux live reaction to Eridan being like that would be

ohhh now THATS the fun part <3 theres a lot of different parts to how sollux is able to navigate it:

their sexualities are already VERY similar, practically the same in the grander scope; its just filtered through their experiences, preferred vocabulary, and tiny personal details.

in post-sprite aus in particular, i like to think that erisolsprite's existence accidentally infects them both with a LOT of humanisms, simply by being made from a sburb kernel instead of a sgrub kernel. all of a sudden eridan's blurred quadrant feelings end up a lot more understandable from a monogamous alien culture system they both have weird grafted-on memories of.

in my headcanons, aradia is aroace and is platonic life partners with sollux. he knows how to navigate eridans relationship likes, dislikes, and day-to-day flip-flopping because he already does it platonically with aradia.

sollux just finds it really fucking funny when eridan is a hater about something involving romance or sex lmao. he doesn't have strong opinions about most of that shit and also thinks some things eridan brings up ARE pretty fucking stupid.

all these things combined makes it pretty easy for the two of them to have a weird little blended thing all to themselves; a flushed base with mild pale undertones, complimented with some pitch seasoning lol. insulting each other fondly and just being a shoulder to rest against when the other needs it is all they need <3
