i dont know much about squid game but i would love to hear about your Guys..
hi, yes, these are my Guys. i mean, almost all the characters are my guys, but these guys are my Guys.
one is a migrant laborer who’s working hard to give a decent life to his wife and son, who maintains his humanity and kindness despite being constantly belittled by his boss as he slaves away for months unpaid at a factory.
the other is an investment banker who graduated from a prestigious university only to tank after his embezzling scheme goes south and is currently at his lowest of lows, needing to pay his debts off if only to make sure his mother isn’t hurt by his mistakes.
they are the friends of all time to me. ignore the fact that they are main characters in the Murder Games™ show.
just drew the stupidest looking sang-woo ever. he looks so lost
what the fuck did they inject into Karma (2025)'s theme to make it that good?
dr john shen clocking in early as attending (after having been one for only 3 months) on this fucky ass day because there's an MCI and then once things start slowing down a kid comes in with measles and his parents are being unreasonable and while he deals with that he has to deal with those two old white men refusing to end their damn shifts and one of the day shift residents almost gets fucking arrested and there's an 18-year-old in custody in one of the rooms who will likely stay there all night with his sad mum and the day shift attending just showed a patient's father the fucking make-shift morgue and then right when they're about to close trauma a man's pelvic gets crushed and he has to stand there and listen to walsh and abbot argue over what is supposed to be his patient, really, and he can see the day shift attending dissociate for ten solid minutes and no one's even told him there are two rats still loose in his damn department and abbot calls him a nerd
I decided to cook
did you really think i was letting you leave all of this in the tags? (@wittywallflower)
santos and whitaker scenes i want to see in season two:
sharing a tupperware of lumpia for lunch.
whenever one of them finds out about gossip, the first thing they do is try to find the other one.
santos, while trying to get a reluctant whitaker to do something for her: c'mon huckleberry! den, denny- c'mon.
silent communication using the eyes, even better if it's blatantly in front of other people.
santos turning to whitaker, about to ask him to fetch her something, and the camera pans to whitaker with said thing already in his hand.
just one mention of a shared spotify playlist between them. please.
both of them sitting in santos' car and silently decompressing after the shift.
Still alive... ! It's hard to draw, this days. More like- it's hard to finish the drawings.
But but but ! I watched Squid Game. It was good, with one great episode. And, well, I had to draw something about said episode... spoilers, sort of.
And yes, I do like Sang-woo. He may be my favorite character. He is very well played, well written, and I like morally grey characters... !
thinking about sang-woo's face whenever ali says something that reminds him how out of his depth the guy is.
i mean, sang-woo has this general air of constant guilt going for him in the show, but you can see the exasperation in there whenever this happens.
bonus: sang-woo's immediate reaction to finding out ali's got a one-year-old baby boy waiting for him at home.
it's not a squid game character unless all their relationships are doomed.
"I guess things haven't been easy without me."
Karma Episode 5: Rewind
i read a post somewhere that said something along the lines of “dr santos wants people to believe she doesn’t care but in reality she cares too much” and you can really see that when she invites whitaker over at her apartment. she lives alone in an apartment with a spare room. maybe it was a temporary situation, maybe she simply can afford it. it doesn’t really matter. she lives alone and it could stay that way if she just turned a blind eye. she could leave whitaker, pretend she didn’t see. people could argue that basically everyone in the pitt is kind enough to extend a landing hand and i believe that to be 100% true, but what matters is that dr santos did it. the one who everyone thought was heartless just for being arrogant. trinity santos saw this guy and said “fuck it. you’re coming with me. i’m not gonna stop making fun of you but if you don’t come with me now i’ll use my krav maga skills to bring you home myself.”
trinity santos the woman who had a close friend kill herself because of an abusive older man. trinity santos the woman who could’ve been that friend because mental illness has a hungry grip that spares no one. dr robby could be that person and dr santos doesn’t know. every single character could be that person and we wouldn’t even know because we, much just like dr santos, were allowed no more than a peek in these people’s lives. we only have a vague idea what they look like on the outside, what demons they’re fighting against. any day now, that person could be whitaker. could be any patient dr santos can’t save.
dr santos’ arrogance isn’t a lie, but it’s not a complete truth either; there are so many layers etched under her façade and it think whitaker is a great way to show that. they can be so beneficial to each other in terms of character exploration and development.
i had not considered this. we're so back.
the unfortunate thing about the second season being 10 months into the future is that we'll never see a bit where javadi gets to private investigator levels of nosy about why santos and whitaker are Like That and concludes they are dating. and when she tells them this, they both look at her like she's killed their childhood pets.
