my s2 rowan theory

okay i had an epiphany the other night about this. i've been analyzing venetian blind man (and the songs blue has on his offical rowan playlist, but that analysis isn't complete yet) recently, and there's one lyric i could never figure out.

"Lord knows I've said awful things 'round this house They echo through the frame and six feet down"

now this!! this is interesting!! let's take a look see at the "six feet down" part. who do we know that has died? no not that one. rowan's former co-counselor. and to further seal this?

"...last year, in a different weather-related incident, a counselor from Cabin Magpie Moth was tragically… destroyed." -FILE 3. The Squall of Prophecy.

and who predicts those weather incidents? rowan. and how does he communicate his predictions? by saying them to others. and by god i'm sure those predictions count as "awful things". and i may be looking too far into this, but the venetian blind man lyrics say "i've SAID awful things." past tense. it isn't him currently saying these things that have a fatal effect, but rather he's said them and the fatality has already happened.

another tidbit that could be unrelated is this line

"Well, campers returning from last summer will remember what happened last time we ignored one of Rowan's forecasts." -FILE 2. The End of the Squall.

could rowan have predicted something so awful that it killed his own co-counselor?

I have a lot of thoughts about John Doe and fear

Everything from his secrets, to his anger, to his narration, to his more self-contained and tangible irrational childish fears. I have lots of thoughts about all of it. John Doe is terrified, All The Time

He lies and gets defensive when he's ashamed, he shouts and curses and gets verbally abusive and goes on villain monologues when he feels trapped, he gets spacey and lost in describing all the gruesome details when he's freaked out and overwhelmed, he narrates things to Arthur that he obviously already knows are happening when he panics, and he's scared of the dark. He also has trust issues, and sees any living being as a potential threat, even if it's just a deer or an owl. This guy is a bundle of fear

my biggest headcanon (?) about Arthur Lester is that he is not usually this absolute tank of a human being, he just has a really extreme survival mode. so I imagine when all of this will eventually be over and he'll feel safe enough to do so Arthur will go back to an average, human amount of whining and John will be. oh so confused.

slow day at the office? Arthur will be like "god I am so hungry" and John, having seen him be literally starved to almost death and barely complain about it, will go "?????? omg are you ok????"

Arthur is the kind of guy to act like he's dying for a mild fever and then as soon as something actually serious happens he immediately goes "I am absolutely fine let's not talk about this ever"

or maybe I am just projecting my own stuff on him.
