7/9/19 - Gouache Experimentation

How were you allowed to take 5 subjects? My school only let's you take a maximum of 4 and most people are encouraged to drop down to 3 subjects after the first year.

That’s normally the rule at my sixth form, too. Originally I was taking 4 subjects, and then I decided that I wanted to pursue chemistry instead of languages - and for that I’d need maths. I asked the director of sixth form if I could self-teach and just be entered for the exams - and he said yes, because I was too stubborn to take no for an answer haha

Ok, I’m knackered now. I love chemistry but graphs are so awful to draw by hand because it’s so easy to mess up 😂

That curve of best fit though (looks a bit funny at this angle but it’s a perfect curve irl)👌🏻

I’m back home now and life has gone back to normal unfortunately. However, I am determined to make the most of the three weeks I have left of my holiday

I love using yellow in my notes. It’s one of my favourite colours but it’s so underrated 💛

Hi all! So middle insomnia kicked in again and I woke up very promptly at 4am and couldn’t get back to sleep :(

As such it was very difficult to concentrate BUT my newest book (Frauen in der DDR - Anna Kaminsky) is very interesting and I’ve arranged to visit the library with @natrevisin next Saturday to crack on with my IRP.

I introduced a friend to Duolingo and she was so happy she could start learning German again! My XP then went from 5000 to 13,220, so that should tell you what I’ve been up to all day haha

Anyway, pictured above are my chemistry notes for the topic we have got round to studying. I actually made these months ago, but they are relevant right now.

Ok but do you ever get that one moment where you’re totally at peace and having the best time with no worries in the world, but all of a sudden you become aware of the imminent end of this perfect moment and you start thinking about it as a fond memory that you’ll recall on your death bed in (what’s hopefully) a very long time and get all melancholic and nostalgic for the present?

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for >800 followers! Sorry I haven’t posted recently. I’ve been so busy doing preliminary research for my IRP in German.

My theme is women’s lives in the GDR and there’s so much to say about it! So this morning and last night I was making notes on two of my sources - one of which was a very interesting 2005 paper which put everything into one place for me with lots of interesting stats I can use in my presentation.

Speaking of presentations, I’ve got to stand up in front of the class on Friday and talk about enthalpy, so I’ve just finished my snazzy PowerPoint on that.

Today I’ve also been revising stats and making sure I have actually understood the material.

I’m just waiting on my two new books to use as German sources.

Tonight, I’m going to read Selam Berlin (I put it down and now have got round to picking it back up again!) and do some analysis on Der Vorleser. I aim to complete 5 chapters as they are quite short. I’ll also do any homework I’m set today.

25/10/19 Der geteilte Himmel

So after 5 weeks, I’ve succumbed to freshers flu. Which is torture because I’ve had three back to back lectures in the same room from 10am this morning and I have another lecture at 3pm and my throat feels so scratchy!

I’m going to take it easy this weekend and eat the many tins of soup I have stockpiled in anticipation of this situation. And I’ll read my German :)
