Pain

Aches echo around

Sudden and yet still constant

Fading soon, healing

Have you heard the tale of King Mollymauk,

Who was shrouded in mystery from his feet and up to his locks.

With the two swords he wielded into battles and frays,

He was dashing and charming and never a brute,

He’s had a good taste in people and also fruit.

I head tales also that he was quite wise,

So when he died the fates let him look to the skies.

So when you go on down the glory run road,

You may feel a lack of the joy that his presence bestowed.

Then you’ll see a coat just hanging and you might just stare,

You might go over and be filled with dispair, 

But just so you know and the mourners beware,

For you sit by his grave but he is not there.

What lockdown means to me

Fear and isolation,

Sitting alone in the ruins of a once great nation.

Nurses and doctors, the thursday clap,

Trying to feel free when we’re all just trapped.

Knowing it’ll end but not quite when,

Meditation and Yoga and finding your zen.

We mourn for the lost, but we keep moving on,

And let us all rise and thank captain Tom.

Cooking and baking, all those different breads,

Sourdough, banana, god when will it end?

Family and laughter and online pub quizzes,

the theatre and cinema going out of buissness.

Binging and Netflix, the next trending series,

Disney+ and Joe wicks, this Mandalorian is serious.

I’m an introverted guy i’m used to the quiet,

We’re all conspiracy theorists now and we know carol did it.

George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, the injustice, the pain, they lit the spark,

Knowing they’ll be more unless we stand up and march.

We want it to be over, we want to be free,

God i can’t wait for that bloody Vaccine.
