Initially I had no interest in watching the new Ghostbusters movies (Afterlife and Frozen Empire) as I was wondering how on earth they were going to work this in with kids.

I watched Frozen Empire (FE) the other week and was immediately counting down the days till Afterlife came onto Netflix just so that I could see more of these characters. I’m a sucker for family dynamics and good family relationships and for me FE ticked all my boxes, especially with Gary Grooberson and his interactions with the family.

My main point of this post is Phoebe Spengler. Since the first moment she was on screen I was glued to it. She’s quite androgynous in appearance to me and I’ve been finding myself wanting more of that represented in media these days.

I like all the characters but Phoebe really stuck with me. Just look at her:

These two movies had a good family dynamic with siblings portrayed in a way that didn’t make me cringe, an adult being very mindful of the developing family relationships he’s building AND a neurodivergent young teen who’s androgynous in appearance? That and I’m 90% certain Phoebe had a crush on Melody in FE.

I neeeeeed to devour movie analysis and fanfictions on these films and Phoebe.

I’m so mad at season 4, how dare they kill JJ? I watched it ages ago and I was so furious. I went back onto ao3 to see people’s perspectives on JJ’s death and I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Since they did kill him off - and I stand by that they could’ve done that better, having Groff be the one kill him was so awful and I could go on but I won’t.

It should’ve been so much more. There should’ve been so much more emotion. Yeah I get Kie is was the girlfriend but JB was his best friend for so long they’ve been through so much together and idk but I was hoping for a super emotional death, not just John B just kneeling there.

I was looking forward to more jj and shoupe content but that won’t be happening (thanks to one fic, I’ve absolutely craved more of those two)

I’m so glad the fandom is writing about those final moments and putting so much emotion into it, I love you all

The Predator (2018) had no business making the Loonies so adorable. The scene in the motel where Casey is sleeping off a tranquilliser and the guys just put stuff around her in an attempt for her to have comfort when she wakes up to a room full of army (and three marines) guys. One even puts down a cup and saucer of what may be tea next to her. There’s a collection of little things and an alfoil unicorn.

Later in the scene they’re helping one of them who said something because of his Tourettes (played by an actor with Tourettes and the director wrote his character having Tourettes so he could tic comfortably in front of the camera) and they’re all like nah he said this and Casey’s like ?? Another adorable moment.

When they’re in Quinn’s wife’s (ex?) house and they’re all wanting to watch tv?

When Casey says the predator dog is hers now and they all follow along with it?

I knew I would enjoy this movie ONLY because of the little team they made and their adorableness. (And because I think Olivia Munn, who plays Casey, is pretty.

character misses their shot and the villain goes "ha! you missed." and the main character goes "did i?" and then shoots the villain again while they're frantically looking around the room for what the hero could possibly have aiming for instead

i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping

Update: I’ve been able to upload Nowhere Boys: the Book of Shadows at last! The link below still works, so now you’ll find all 4 series/seasons plus the movie there. There still aren’t unfortunately highest quality versions of S4, but as I said that’s alright, the versions available are good. And it’s still okay to share these posts and the link.

I had to get the movie from a different source than the episodes, and although it’s still high-quality and mostly HD, there are a couple of places where the quality drops a little or it behaves slightly strangely (fewer since I edited it!). The subtitles for book of shadows are heavily edited by me, colour coded by speaker (or the main/more important characters anyway) and I used non-standard colours to do a colour per speaker, and it might be that this makes them less useful so if this is the case, please let me know and I’ll make a version without colours, or at least with only standard colours. I also don’t know if the colours will even show up, depending on what player you’re using (they only worked for me in vlc player and the embedded player in the subtitle editing programme I used).

for reasons unknown to me, the video quality of series 4 (apart from episode 1, weirdly, which is as high-quality as series 1-3) is a bit worse than the previous series even at maximum, although still very watchable. If they (by which I mean the BBC because I've got the main series from the iPlayer) do ever post better versions, I'll get them and replace the current ones, but as it is, those are okay and certainly better than nothing/some other sources.

I've included the (English) subtitles with everything, in case anybody else wants them (just .srt files at the moment, although I think I could maybe also get different file versions, like .ttml, if that's wanted/needed for translation/whatever other reason).

I did this for a Twitter groupchat of fans (not very active anymore but if anybody wants to join we'd be happy to welcome you), but I thought it might get to a slightly wider audience here and it wouldn't hurt me to offer it to more people.
