Azul Ashengrotto
You were visiting Mostro Lounge one day because a certain furball was craving one of their special drinks and he was pestering you all day to get one. You finally caved in after the 1999th time the furball has mentioned about Mostro Loungeâs lovely delicacies.
Since you had saved up your madol and you and Grim both got pretty good results from the latest exams, you figured it was a good way to celebrate by treating yourself and Grim to a meal.
Your orders had just arrived at your table and the two of you began to enjoy your food.
âGrim, chew slowly, no need to rush things.â You said to Grim who was munching down on his food like a madman. You laughed and shook your head before going back to eat, when all of a sudden you heard a voice call out to you.
âWhy, if it isnât (Y/N)!â You looked up from your food to see the dorm leader of Octavinelle standing in front of your table.
âAzul-senpai!â You responded to him with a smile.
âMind if I take a seat beside you?â He asked and you shook your head, signaling that it was okay for him to sit beside you.
âYou usually donât come here often.â Azul said as he sat next to you. âWhatâs the special occasion?â He asked.
âAh! Well, me and Grim got some pretty good results on last monthâs exams! So, I figured to come here to treat the two of us as a job well done.â You smiled to him.
âI see, then congratulations to the two of you.â Azul said, an idea popping into his head as he did. âPerhaps you would like a little reward for your hard work.â He said with a small smirk on his face.
âHmm? Little reward? Azul-senpai, you donât have to.â You smiled to your upperclassman, going back to enjoying your food, but a hand had caught your chin and made you turn to look at Azul.
âOh, but you do.â Azul said, his free hand travelling to the back of your waist, pulling you closer to him.
âAfter all, it is a rare sight to see you here and enjoying yourself.â The hand on your chin pulled your face closer to his, your lips were about a millimeter away from each other.
It just takes a little more for the two of you to ki-
âAzul.â
Azul immediately froze in his tracks, you peeked over his body to see a very familiar second year standing behind the two of you.
âJade-senpai!â You called out and the upperclassman responded with a closed-eye smile.
âLovely to see you here today (Y/N).â He replied to you. âAnd Azul, there are customers waiting for you in the VIP lounge, might I suggest you head on over immediately?â Jade continued with a hint of menace towards his dorm leader.
âA-Ah, yes, right, well, have a lovely time here (Y/N).â Azul said to you and left, slightly grumpy and grumbling as he went past his vice dorm leader.
Jade Leech
âGoodbye Azul-senpai, take care!â You waved to your upperclassman as Jade took Azulâs seat beside you.
âFufufu, (Y/N), you must eat your food before it gets cold.â Jade reminded you.
âAh! Youâre right, I was too busy wondering what Azul-senpai had meant by a little reward that I forgot my food.â You said and took a bite out of your dish. Jade simply let out a smile.
âI see, so, from what I have heard, you and Grim had gotten excellent results in the recent tests?â Jade questioned you and you nodded.
âWell, congratulations to the two of you.â Jade said and watched the two of you eat for a little while. He noticed that you were struggling with your dish.
âFufufu, (Y/N), do you need some help?â Once those words left Jadeâs lips, you immediately froze up, sighing internally.
âY-YesâŚâ You stuttered, embarrassed of yourself for not being able to eat a dish properly. Although, Iâm pretty sure itâs the students who cooked it too well done. Yes, Dear Reader-san, I am on your side on this and I blame the Octavinelle students for this.
So, you let Jade take your utensils and help you with your dish, you stared in awe as Jade managed to dice the tough meat into tiny little pieces. Jade then sets down the knife and uses the fork to pick up a small piece of meat.
âJade-senpai? Whatâre you doing?â You asked, confused with your upperclassmanâs actions at the moment. You immediately silenced yourself as Jade let his fingers of his free hand reach your chin and gently lifted your head slightly upwards.
âOh, nothing much, I just wanted to let you try our dish without having you go through any hassle.â Jade said with a gentle smile, yet, he was slowly leaning in towards you and you were slowly being pulled towards him.
You hadnât noticed that Jade had already set down the fork as the two of you continued to lean in towards each other, your lips were closer than ever. Jade opened his mouth slightly to mutter out the following words:
âSay âAhââŚâ
âAHH!â A new voice appeared, leaving you and Jade in shock.
âKOEBI-CHAN!â And before you knew it, you were being pulled away by the twin brother of Jade.
âWhy didnât you tell us you were visiting?â Floyd continued to question you as the two of your walked further away from your table, leaving a dumbstruck Jade and Grim behind.
Floyd Leech
âKoebi-chan, next time youâre visiting, you should really tell us!â Floyd said as he dragged you around Mostro Lounge.
âAlright Floyd-senpai! Iâll be sure to give you a heads up next time!â You smiled and said.
âHmm, what should we do first?â Floyd asked as he looked around.
âWell, we could go back and let me finish my food?â You told your upperclassman, the only thing on your mind at that moment was your unfinished food.
âEhh? But itâs not fun!â Floyd said with a frown, the upperclassman continued to look around, trying to find something to do with you, after all, it was truly rare to see you at Mostro Lounge. It didnât take Floyd too long to think of an idea.
âAh!! I know! We should go for a swim!â Floyd suggested to you with a smile.
âBut Floyd-senpai, arenât you supposed to be working right now?â You asked.
âAhh~ Azul and Jade wonât notice if weâre gone for a little bit.â Floyd said to you with a grin and continued to drag you towards the exit. âPlus, you promised that youâd go on a swim with me koebi-chan~â The upperclassman continued.
You guys began to head towards the exit of Mostro Lounge at full speed, due to Floyd being tall, your legs were having a slightly hard time trying to catch up with Floyd. Surprisingly, Floyd had noticed this.
âAhahah! Koebi-chan is trying so hard!â Floyd laughed and stopped running, you pouted to him in response.
âOf course, your legs are longer than mine, your walking equals to me running.â You explained to your upperclassman. You were about to ask him to let you go back to your table so you could finish your food when you felt an arm on your back and another arm on your legs, and before you knew it, you were being lifted into the air.
You let out a small gasp as you come face-to-face with Floyd.
âHahahaha! Koebi-chan is so light!â Floyd said, looking at you. The smile on his face slowly vanished as he continued making eye-contact with you, his face slowly leaned into yours as his hands on your figure tightened their grip on you and pulled you closer to him.
It was only a matter of time before-
âFloyd, what are you doing?â A very familiar voice was heard. You turned to the source of the voice to see Jade.
âLetâs get back to work before Azul comes back.â Jade said to his brother in a stern tone.
âEhhh? But I havenât played with koebi-chan!!â Floyd whined, hugging you closer to him.
âAzul would not be pleased to hear about this. Now, come, we must go back to work.â Jade said with a strict look on his face. Floyd let out a sigh as he saw the stern look on Jadeâs face.
âFineâŚâ Floyd said and gently let you down from his hold.
âThatâs better.â Jade said and turned to you with a smile. âSo sorry about that (Y/N), weâll be off now, enjoy your food.â Jade continued and did a small bow at you before going back to tending the customers of Mostro Lounge with his brother.
âAlright, good luck Jade-senpai and Floyd-senpai!â You wished them as you slowly went back to your table to finally enjoy your precious food.
Can Finn and Flame Princess be best friends then get back together with a healthier, stronger relationship and then get married later on and have cute hybrid babies and be the best parents in Ooo?
another practice one-shot. This one is a pseudo-songfic because the song is presented in a diegetic format. The song in question is So Close by Jon McLaughlin, from the Disney reverse isekai movie Enchanted, the villain of which my version of Yuu is based on. Though in this story MC is kept entirely ambiguous so you can insert yourself/your own MC into it.
(Implied MC x Vil and MC x Idia too, all pairings are one-sided)
After Crowley finally finds a way to send Yuu back to their home world through the magic mirror, their friends decide to throw them a farewell party but one of the honorable guests isnât too pleased with the idea of saying goodbye
Content Warnings: possible yandere behavior. It wasnât my intention to write yan but because Malleus is already incredibly borderline yandere in canon some of it couldnât be helped. so Iâm just gonna say âContent Warnings: Malleusâ˘â
Yuuâs farewell party was one party he never wished to attendânot because he didnât want to see them off but because he didnât want them to leave in the first place.
Thatâs why it was so heartbreaking for him to receive an invitation directly from their hands. Of course he understood they only wished to say a proper goodbye and not torment him with their departure but it surely felt like so. Perhaps he should just turn back, return to the dorm or even leave the college grounds altogether, seek an abandoned place far enough where he could engross himself in the details still visible on the dilapidated gargoyles. It would be better to not see them off and just be aware that they have returned home safely.
Oh but he couldnât do that, could he?
Just picturing their downcast expression once they realized he wouldnât come made him ache, and it would certainly perturb him enough that he wouldnât be able to get anything out of his little escapade besides the deep void of his subconscious haunting him. He felt as if trapped inside an iron maiden, no matter how he moved he would still get his heart impaled, so he continued to make his way to Ramshackle Dorm.
The first thing Malleus registered with his sharp hearing was the loud music. If this was intended to be a celebration for Yuu they had certainly missed the mark, he canât remember them ever being fond of loud and crowded places. Then he stopped. He didnât know how many students were going to attend thisâas Yuu put itâlittle soirĂŠe. He wasnât well liked by most students, that much he was aware, he could very well ruin the party with his presence alone.
Another step and another pike of the iron maiden pierced his flesh.
Perhaps he shouldnât enter just yet.
With a flick of his wrist he made himself invisible. For now it was best to perform some reconnaissance before entering the battlefield.
It was of no difficulty for a sorcerer such as him to see and listen as if he were inside the building. The first thing he registers is Yuu, looking as bright and cheerful as ever, dressed in a lovely attire they had no doubt crafted themselves. Oh how long he could spend just admiring every aspect about them; truly he was beyond foolish to think the fading details of an old gargoyle could even begin to compare.
As much as Yuu blinded him for a few seconds he could certainly not ignore the three loud buffoons that constantly flocked around them.
âEhhâ? You mean students back in your world have to clean the entire school after class every day? That sounds awful!â
âThat sounds like a smart idea to maintain good student behavior, actually.â He heard the two Heartslabyul students discuss.
âI donât see any purpose in going to a school without magic. It sounds so boring and you canât even become a powerful Magician.â
âGrimm, there is no purpose in learning magic in a world where it doesnât exist.â Malleus barely registered that Yuu had Grimm standing on their shoulders.
âSo you must study for a career that doesnât require magic.â Spade intervened âWill the classes you attended here even be of any use for a job in your world?â
Yuuâs expression turned sorrowful. âI donât know yet. I didnât know what path I wanted to follow before I came to Night Raven, and Iâm even more uncertain nowâ
Trappola gave them a light slap on the back. âIâm sure someone like you is gonna figure that out pretty easily. Things tend to find you and not the other way around.â
It was so frustrating to see the three people closest to Yuu make no effort to keep them. So joyfully discussing their life in another world as if they were already gone. Malleus always felt a burning jealousy of the two Heartslabyul students and Grimm, they were the first people Yuu got to meet in the school and the ones they relied on the most; to say they were joined at the hip would be an understatement. He wondered if he had managed to show up to the entrance ceremony on time it would be him that Yuu shared such an inseparable bond with, him that Yuu wouldâve depended on, if only he had made different decisions.
One move, and the spike pierces deeper.
Then he saw Schoenheit and Hunt approach the group, the former quickly pulling Yuu aside under the pretense of fixing their makeup as the latter stayed behind to hold back the loud trio.
âI canât simply allow you to attend your own party looking disheveled.â
âI know, I knowâ
Schoenheit gently smoothed over their outfit in places and adjusted it in others, much like a fussy mother. Yuu giggled, and Malleus fumed.
âItâs a lovely design.â
âThank you.â
âIf you decided to stay I could turn you into my personal stylist. Your eye for detail is nothing to scoff at.â
âThank you again, Vil, but I really canât stay.â
âWhy?â
They paused for a moment, eyebrows furrowing, before Schoenheit held them by the chin. They instinctively opened their mouth as he began applying his lipstick on them. The familiarity of such behavior had Malleus briefly numbing his senses in order to steel himself. When he brought his attention back to the pair they were already at the end of their conversation.
âI canât force you,â He sighed. âbut I trust your decision.â
âIâll always be thankful for your mentorship, Vil.â
âI didnât do you any favors, potato.â
He gave Yuu a small pat on the head but they seemingly decided it wasnât enough because soon they pulled him in for a big hug, one he would complain had rumpled their outfits but still clearly appreciated.
Malleus didnât know exactly when Yuu and Schoenheit had gotten closer to each other but he could warrant a guess it was around the VDC. Yuu always held themselves with a grace that had undoubtedly baited the attention of the Pomefiore dorm leader before the rest of their personality trapped him in. It wasnât uncommon to see him doting and fussing over Yuuâs appearance as a flimsy excuse to get physically close to them and rumors about their relationship were quick to spread around the school.
Schoenheit made Malleus bitterly jealous in a way the other three buffoons didnât: he posed a possible threat for being just as deeply in love with Yuu. Though unlike Malleus, his closed off behavior wasnât born out of ignorance towards human feelings but out of a deliberate attempt to not express them. The man was like a cracked dam, desperately trying not to let an inkling of his real emotions seep through. He might have tried to talk them out of leaving Twisted Wonderland but he was still too quick to let them go. How weak. How foolish. He fancied himself in love with Yuu but still didnât put much of a fight for them.
Yuu didnât get to stay alone for long after Schoenheit left because soon they were hounded by the younger Shroud brother, eager to greet them with Yuu responding in equal enthusiasm.
Malleus shouldnât have been surprised to see the older Shroud appear in person, after all if there was one thing that could make him leave his room it was the combined efforts of Yuu and his brother, the latter of whom he dismissed with the intention of having some privacy.
âS-so⌠it seems Iâm going to lose a party member. Iâll have to find a new tank to fill your role.â
âIâm sure thereâs plenty of tanks out there that can keep up with the rest of the team.â
âNone as good as you.â
Ah, Shroud. If Schoenheit was a possible threat, he was a rampant one. Malleus had to fight back the urge to strike the man down with lighting every time he saw him.
It was no secret Malleus didnât do well with technology; it never bothered him before until it got in the way of him enjoying his time with Yuu. He couldnât call or text them, couldnât enjoy their technological hobbies and most of all: couldnât participate in their little online video game club. How many times he had tried to discuss with Yuu things they liked only to be held back by his inability to operate or understand technology?
But Shroud could. Shroud could offer them all the latest gadgets and games they wanted, talk about their shared hobbies and spend more time together. And if the twinkle in Yuuâs eyes whenever they talked about him wasnât infuriating enough he had to find out Lilia, his own guardian, had also joined in. The only two people in this world that helped him not feel like an outsider, made him feel cared for and included, were now excluding him from their shared activities. Malleus tried but he simply couldnât understand any of the things they discussed, it was always about their little online game that sometimes made them go an entire night without rest just to play together. It made Malleus furious beyond belief that Shroud could shake the entire foundation of his support system this easily, that he could offer something Yuu and Lilia found more appealing than him, than spending their time with him. It was unforgivable.
Malleus didnât even notice he had numbed his senses again, the alternative he had originally planned now seeming far less painful than the experience of being proven how much Yuu didnât need him and how soon they would abandon him forever.
He turned his attention back to Yuu and Shroud and was taken aback to find the man desperately clinging to their hands.
âPlease, you donât have to leave!â
âIdiaâŚâ
âA-are you so eager to go back to your friends in your world? You must have a ton of them donât you?â
âI⌠donât, actually.â
âHuh?â
âI have no friends back in my real world, I was too scared to make them before.â
âThen whyâŚ?â
âIf I could make so many friends here that means Iâll be able to make a lot of them back home, wonât I?â Then they hugged Idia so tightly Malleus felt his stomach drop. âAnd that means you can make lots of friends without me here, too.â
Shroud seemed hesitant to return their hug, but did so eventually.
Malleus couldnât watch this anymore. Why he had even decided to do so for this long was beyond him, though he couldnât deny parts of it were enlightening to say the least. They had no plans or skills to secure a proper future, they couldnât formulate a good enough reason as to why they had to return and they had no friends waiting for them. Pray tell why exactly were they so eager to leave?
Another flick of his wrist and he made himself visible at the center of the room, taking all the guests by surprise.
It wasnât a large gathering, most students and dorm leaders he could recognizeânot that he worried; he was far past the point of caring about ruining Yuuâs farewell with his presence.
All were silent as he slowly approached Yuu, heavy footsteps echoing through the room. He gave a disgusted look at Shroud rubbing his snot-covered face on his human until he stepped back, and suddenly Yuuâs attention was finally on Malleus.
âTsunotaro!â Their look of surprise and clear adoration offered temporary relief to Malleusâ pained heart, who was still acutely aware of the previous men still surrounding Yuuâs vicinity. âI thought you wouldnât come!â
Malleus bowed his head and extended his hand. âWill you please grant me the honor of this dance?â
They giggled. âThis isnât a ball, silly!â
âOne dance is all I ask.â
They nodded, placing their hand on top of his. Pulling them back towards center of the foyer Malleus could see in the corner of his eyes them shooting Shroud an apologetic look, he only tugged their arm a bit more forcefully in response. Soft keys of a piano now replaced the pop music that previously played as he placed a heavy grip on their waist.
Youâre in my arms, and all the world is gone
The music playing on for only two
He didnât know who had started playing the music but he had a suspicion Lilia was somehow involved. It was of no importance now, as he began to sway alongside Yuu, reveling in how their soft gaze was now reserved for him and him alone, just as it should always be.
So close together
And when Iâm with you, so close to feeling alive
âWhat took you so long?â
âI didnât wish to ruin your party with my presenceâ
âNonsense, youâre my honorable guest!â
A life goes by, romantic dreams will stop
So I bid mine goodbye and never knew
This was nice, it was as if only the two of them existed at that moment. He only wanted to forget, forget about all these other men, about how they were going to leave and only focus on this moment, even if they were going to leave and leave him alone andâ
So close was waiting, waiting here with you
And now forever I know
âYou have lovely footworkâ
They beamed. âThanks! Vil was quite the strict teacher, which is fair seeing as I almost broke all his toes.â
All that I wanted, to hold you so close
But he couldnât. There they went bringing the other men up. It was not Schoenheit dancing with them, it was Malleus. Were they thinking of him as they danced, then? Malleusâ mind kept running, thinking of Yuu and Schoenheit, dancing this close together, over and over until Yuu learned the steps. How many lessons did it take? Malleus could have taught them, so why did they run to Schoenheit instead? Why do they keep running to others and not him?
So close to reaching that famous happy end
Almost believing this was not pretend
No! This was possibly his last moments with Yuu, he could not, would not allow others to sour it! But then again.. Malleus wouldnât have been struggling this much if Yuu had spent more time with him. Didnât they know how every second he was next to them felt divine? How much did he cherish their midnight walks together? But much like tonight, their days were filled with so many people hogging their attention and them giving it away so easily. It was so unnecessary, there was little others could offer that he couldnât.
Now youâre beside me
And look how far weâve come
And even then they were still picking their home world over their friends here, werenât they? The world that offered them nothing, gave them nothing; a world that considered them nothing. It made him upset beyond words. Didnât they know how much he needed them? The fact they clearly didnât burn for him like he burned for them left him inconsolable.
So far we are, so close
âDonât leave meâ his voice never sounded more desperate
âMalleus?â
âPlease.â He brushed his knuckles against their cheek âI am nothing without youâ
They let out a huff. âDonât be so dramatic. Youâre still the great Malleus Draconia. Youâre a big boy, you can take care of yourself.â So casual, as if talking to a child and not a fearsome sorcerer groveling at their feet. At this point he truly was no better than Shroud. âYouâll be able to take care of things when Iâm gone. Yours was the only dorm with no overblot incident, after all.â
Oh how could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now
Oh but he doesnât want to âtake care of thingsâ. He doesnât care about NRC or Diasomnia or Twisted Wonderland; the world is completely meaningless without Yuu in it. How cruel the gods must be to bring them into his life only to take it away. Was this supposed to be a lesson for him to learn?
Weâre so close to reaching
That famous happy end
Having them this close was addicting, his heart palpitated and his lungs constricted, it was as if he was slowly losing his sanity to desperation. He never knew how miserable he was before they came into his life, never knew what he was missing. His boring, empty days were normalcy but now he didnât know if he could ever go back; go back to being alone, being shunned and feared by all, being unwanted. The only person brave enough to extend him a hand was now bravely yanking it back so soon after he had a taste and left him wanting.
Almost believing
this was not pretend
Like a glutton at a buffet he wanted more; more of them, more of their kindness, more of their affection. Oh, how he hungered. One of the greatest sorcerers in the realm reduced to a man starved in the desert, and he craved for Yuu to feel the same. How dare they plant this disease in his heart and not suffer alongside him?
Letâs go on dreaming
For we know we are
So close⌠so closeâŚ
And stillâŚ
So far.
As the song drew to a close so did their dance. Malleus tightly held Yuu to his chest seeing as they might as well disappear if he were to let go. He basked in their warmth and the way they melded into each other, as if they were two halves of a whole long since separated. He felt them stir, trying to put distance between their bodies but still he didnât allow them to go. No, they would stay here forever if he so willed it.
âAre you ready to go, Yuu-kun?â
And then Crowley came in.
His sudden arrival dragged Malleus out of his reverie long enough for Yuu to escape from his grasp, his arms subconsciously following after them like magnets.
No, no, no, please!
Donât leave me!
âYes, headmaster! Just please give me a second.â
Just one look at their back and he shattered.
Everything had turned so blurry in a matter of seconds, everything but Yuu. Malleus couldnât fully grasp what he was feeling, it was them that always helped him sort out these new and complicated emotions, but he couldnât reach out to them nowâand he certainly wouldnât be able to do so later. Despair began to rise up his throat like bile until he swore he could choke on it. He barely registered his scream of denial until Yuu turned around in concern, panic immediately settling on their face as they were stopped from reaching for him by Crowleyâs grip on their wrist. The students that hadnât already fled did so at the sight of Malleus clear overblotting. He couldnât care anymore, his dragon instincts to hoard his treasure were louder than anything in the room. Lilia, Sebek, Silver, Crowleyânone of them could hold him back him back anymore. Green flames surrounded his being until he was unrecognizable from his human form, his increase in size wrecking the foyer and threatening to drown those left under the debris. In his frenzy he couldnât think of nothing but reaching for Yuu with his large talons until he had them in his grasp.
They were his.
They belonged to him, body and soul.
And Malleus wouldnât let anyone else take his treasure away, least of all themselves.

âI always wear All Might shorts under my dresses and skirt!â Izuku beamed proudly as she showed Uraraka.
âOf course you doâŚâ Uraraka let out a sigh at the sight of her friend in forml wear, showing off her under garments.
âWeâre heroes in training!â Izuku held up her clenched fist, and grinned brightly. âI always have to be prepared!â
