don't know much about enneagram but this is an interesting look at their personalities!

What Enneagram types are the main cast? I've been thinking about this for some time and here's my two cents. If anyone has ideas/corrections about any mistypes I'd love to hear them. This is mostly coming at it from the 'core fear' aspect rather than outward displays of personality, but I think it could inform potential character arcs.

*Jesse: 2, Helper. Fears being unwanted/unworthy of love. 2 empathetic, self-sacrificing type fits the optimistic protagonist role Jesse plays, and the fears can really be pushed in dire situations where her friends end up throwing in the towel and leaving. Potential backstories for this root fear include (as one anon mentioned a while ago) being an unmoored orphan.

Olivia: 5, Investigator. The fear of being useless/incapable adds depth to her self-worth issues over not being good enough in her abilities (building competition, redstone, etc.) and can be maximized for profit with Ellegaard's death, whereby Olivia can step into her shoes as a kind of successor.

Axel: 9, Peacemaker. Fears separation and conflict, which manifests as a passivity and resignation of the state of things. Axel is dissatisfied with their—the Treehouse Trio's—situation, but has convinced himself that it's just the way it is. Growth would be following his passion when the opportunity arises (finding Magnus and becoming the King of Boomtown)

Petra: 8, Challenger. Fears being harmed or controlled. This one may be a stretch but the rest of Petra's personality (self-reliance, resisting weakness and the need to stay in control (e.g. her conflict with Jesse in S1E7) seems to fit this. Could be explained by a really shitty childhood. Growth is learning to take a back-seat and show vulnerability (which is excellent fodder for a romantic subplot)

Lukas: 6, Loyalist. Fears not having stability. Very loyal and cooperative: Lukas is repeatedly loyal to his friends, shown when he goes back for the Ocelots or even Jesse in S2 if you ended things on bad terms earlier. Growth is abandoning his old post (The Ocelots), finding his own way and taking the risk to join Jesse's gang instead.

Bonus Aiden just for sillies: 3, Achiever. Shares a similar basic fear of worthlessness with Jesse, but manifests it outwardly with ladder-climbing and hunger for fame instead. Hangs around the negative levels of Type 3, with growth being accepting his inherent self-worth and actually doing some good instead of endlessly chasing Jesse's shadow.

*This is written with F!Jesse in mind, at least. I haven't seen an M!Jesse playthrough so I can't determine whether it's accurate or not.

It's more of my Reverse x Reunion Falls, which I have decided to name the "Half Reversed Reunion AU" which is literally just me saying what AUs it is - since it's half of Reverse Falls mixed with Reunion Falls.

Lore dump! Dipper is so done with the Tent of Telepathy shows but he does them anyway because he doesn't really have a choice. He was raised by the Gleefuls and is closer to Mrs. Gleeful (I don't think there's a canon first name for her so I'm going to call her Valerie in this AU) which Gideon is jealous of. I have several scenes of this AU planned and I think I can connect them into a story.

Apparently MCSM is getting a bit of a resurgence bc people hated the Minecraft Movie trailer so bad. I've been into MCSM for several years and Gravity Falls for about one year, and the Book of Bill coming out made that fandom just explode.

Both my fandoms (well, two of them) are having a resurgence. At the same time.

I think the Billford ship makes Bill's perspective in Gravity falls really funny. Your boyfriend banishes you, you come back twenty years later to some weird little boy immediately demanding you go after Standford Pines aka your ex but it's not him it's his loser brother and then you get your ass beat by his loser great-niece and nephew and then it happens again and then your ex finally comes back and you finally achieve godhood and you and him can finally have psychosexual mindgames together, and you finally get the ultimate privilage of being able to enter his mind again so you can become omnipotent and then it's his fucking loser brother again and then he fucking kills you.

I would love to read anything you write about them!

I was going to lament the complete lack of longer fics centered solely on Dipper and Mabel's relationship, before realizing that I have, in fact, read one story like that. However, Dipper was so traumatized he acted pretty different.

This is also the story that convinced me I shouldn't read main character death.

The only kind of hero I can admire is the one who can defeat a three headed ghast and land in the coolest way possible, but still makes decisions like stepping on a pressure plate linked to a piston that kicks them in the face.

And how big a deal it is?

I mean, look…we all know Soos is the perfect replacement for Stan. We all know that by giving Soos the role of Mr. Mystery, he’s not only making Soos’s long-term dream come true, he’s cementing the unspoken father-son bond they have by making Soos the closest thing Stan has to an heir.

But a job title isn’t all Stan gives him.

Let’s be clear here–Stan lives like a poor man. He’s cheap and loath to spend a single penny when he can mend, reuse or steal what he needs instead. But I don’t think that’s a sign the Shack isn’t making him money. On the contrary, everything we see about the Shack reinforces the idea that it’s making great money. Stan isn’t poor. He’s miserly. There’s a big difference.

We never see an episode where Stan’s worrying about how business is dropping off or where the Shack is open but deserted. Whenever we see Stan give a tour, there’s always a crowd. And with one or two exceptions (tourists leaving angrily after Waddles eats the Cornicorn) the tourists are almost always forking over huge fistfuls of cash.The Shack frequently hosts huge events that the entire town shows up for, and Stan’s often surrounded by huge piles of cash. The Mystery Shack is such a fixture of Gravity Falls that it’s on the town map hanging in city hall.

Stan’s bitter promise to his family that he would make millions quite frankly probably came true.

Stan didn’t just give Soos his dream job, he gave him an incredibly profitable business that he could have probably sold for millions. Stan “bleed ‘em dry ” Pines. Stan “wouldn’t loan you a nickel without charging interest” Pines. He gave it to Soos for nothing.

Soos deserved it. After ten years of the most loving, devoted loyalty to his father dad papa padre employer for what I can only assume was terrible pay, he had earned it. But that’s not really my point–my point is that Stan, who couldn’t even bring himself to spend a few dollars on pancakes for his niblings, gave away potential millions to his son heir precious child that he loves so much employee with a smile, without hesitation. 

That is huge. That is amazing. That is both an important sign of character growth and an indication of how much Stan loves this precious baby man.

I honestly don't get people who thought Dipper should have accepted Ford's apprenticeship offer or that he was once again bending over backwards to please Mabel by rejecting it, as if the apprenticeship and Mabel Land weren't two sides of the same coin.

Everybody can tell Mabel Land was a bad coping mechanism to Mabel -a way to have her avoid facing reality. But Ford's apprenticeship would've be the same thing to Dipper if he accepted it.

Since the begining of the show Dipper wanted to fastfoward childhood with his attempts to woo Wendy, lying about his age to seem more mature and skipping trick r treat to go to a teenage party, and getting the oportunity to just skip middle and high school and go straight to studying the paranormal like an adult with Ford is just more of that. It's another form of escapism, even if it seems more "grown-up".

When he gives up the apprenticeship, he's not giving up his dreams -if they defeat Bill he can come back to Gravity Falls with Mabel and study the paranormal as much as he likes and he even had a plan for making a ghost-hunting show when he grew up, as he told Ford as the latter was doing his offer.

Instead, he promisses to have Mabel's back and vice-versa as they've always had before, because as much as reality and growing up sucks, it's the people around you that make it bearable.
