Pacifica Getting Kicked Out And Going To The Shack AU Won The Poll For What I Should Focus On, Which

Pacifica getting kicked out and going to the Shack AU won the poll for what I should focus on, which I sort of expected. Or maybe I just hoped for that outcome since I have more of an idea of where that story is going than the Bill Wins AU.

Pacifica's AU is going to be one story, maybe two. However, I recently decided that the Bill Wins/Weirdmageddon AU would work better if I turned it into a series and separated it into episodes so I can focus on different groups of characters.

Wendy even gets a turquoise bandana like thing in the last few episodes, which I thought was funny because it reminded me of Petra

I dunno if this counts as a "confession", but Petra is basically Wendy (Gravity Falls), right?? In a totally good way. I think that's why I vibe with Petra's character so much. I just cannot see them without thinking of the other!

Au Where Everything Is The Same Except Mabel And Dipper Have Been Going To Gravity Falls Every Year Before

au where everything is the same except mabel and dipper have been going to gravity falls every year before the show takes place since like kindergarten.

its a pretty simple premise that derives mostly from my desire to explore interpersonal relationships and the ways a place and people can change from a young child’s point of view. it doesn’t change canon that much either, admittedly, i just wanted to draw childhood friends stuff LOL. ill call it uhhhhhhhh every summer au.

As a note... it showed up in the Billford tags anyway. Oops. ^^;

Oh my goodness

I don't know what to do

I don’t know how I feel about this . . . On one hand, it’s not exactly inaccurate. It technically was about billford. On the other, I don’t want anyone thinking I actually ship them

If I ever say I ship Bill with ANY member of the Pines family, it’s an imposter. Shoot them. Preferably with fire. Lots of fire.

Mabel's perspective in Sock Opera is equally, if not more sympathetic than Dipper's: An Essay

Most people generally wouldn't consider Mabel to have a terribly sympathetic plotline in Sock Opera, even those of us who don't necessarily feel that she's horribly selfish. I think that's because, from a narrative perspective, her plotline is (as it so often is) shafted in favour of Dipper's, and from a viewer's perspective, Dipper's makes more sense. We, as viewers want to know who the author is. We, as viewers, know that Gabe is inevitably going to turn out to be some variety of impossible, and we know that the Author of the Journals is a major mystery. However, from Mabel's perspective, none of this is true, because she doesn't have the luxury of knowing she is in a TV show. Even if you take out Gabe, her perspective still makes perfect sense.

At the beginning of summer, Dipper found this journal, and Mabel has generally been pretty happy to go along with his adventures as the journal has led them, but it's clear she doesn't have the same degree of fascination with it. Maybe she may have been a little intrigued by who the Author is, she's probably a bit curious, but not to the same extent. By the time of Sock Opera, she's probably reasonably ready for the Journal fixation to be over, considering that they nearly all got killed by a shapeshifter trying to find the author. She knows that trying to investigate the author is dangerous--Stan warned them away from the supernatural, they've all nearly died multiple times, but Dipper cannot be stopped. And now Dipper has decided to spend hours and hours and hours, forgoing sleep, sitting in front of a screen, typing in passwords. The fact that Mabel tries to drag him away from it is a good thing--anyone with a relative who spends excessive amounts of time in front of a computer can tell you that. Generally, having someone close to you become deeply fixated to the point of obsession with anything can be challenging, however in Mabel's case, Dipper has become obsessed to the point of prioritising getting into the laptop above anything, and this isn't just a regular hyperfixation: this is a hyperfixation that has nearly gotten them both (plus their loved ones) nearly killed multiple times in the last few weeks. It's absolutely the responsible, good thing for Mabel to do to not enable that behaviour.

And then if you add the puppet show back into the equation, then yes, it is kind of ridiculous of Mabel to put on a whole show of that kind of magnitude just for a boy (regardless of whether the boy deserves it), however, as viewers we must accept that this is, in fact, thoroughly within character for Mabel, who is kind of ridiculous. Any kind of production of that size is a huge commitment, especially if you've given yourself a week to work, and I'm not remotely bothered by the fact that Mabel has to get everyone involved on this. And to Mabel's credit, she does try to help Dipper as soon as he appears to her in puppet form, she just isn't immediately willing to stop the show. Back in high school, my drama class did a play that I mostly wrote, mostly managed and also had a small acting role in (yes, I was an overachiever in drama), and let me tell you, it would have taken a lot to have gotten me to call off the show halfway through, much less publicly sabotage it. A demon threatening the lives of one of my siblings? Probably yes. That probably would have done it. And Mabel does allow the thing that she poured blood, sweat and tears into to go literally up in flames in front of everyone, once she realises that's what she has to do (and personally, I don't think that there's anything wrong with not immediately being willing to drop everything for this. It's not like Dipper doesn't dig in his heels about doing what's best until the very last possible second). I don't know why people insist it's not 'technically a sacrifice', because while, yes, obviously Dipper's life was more important, and she 100% made the right choice, it's not easy to wreck something you worked hard on in front of people.

All this is to say that although it's easy to become irritated at Mabel during this episode because she's hindering Dipper's ability to figure out who the author is, it's also very easy not to realise that she has a thoroughly reasonable perspective, simply because the narrative puts greater emphasis and attention of Dipper's perspective.

So I have an abandoned WIP that I wrote roughly 17 thousand words for and I was looking in my notes doc for it the other day and found some . . . funny(?) stuff I thought I'd share. You'll probably know why it's abandoned if you make it to the end of this post.

So I pre-write my tags and notes. The notes I write during or after relevant chapters. So here are most of the non-relationship tags:

Graphic Depictions of Violence, F/M, Teen And Up Audiences, Hurt/Comfort, Angst with a Happy Ending, Whump, Heavily Implied Romance*, Torture, this got way darker than I was anticipating, No One Is Okay, And That Includes The Author, Preston and Priscilla Northwest's a+ parenting, Probably Medical Inaccuracies, I Tried Okay, the graphic violence warning only applies to a couple of chapters.

*The heavily implied romance tag was for Stan/Lazy Susan and Pacifica/Dipper

Here's the first note: Hi there! This is the story that’s been distracting me from my main one, Mindscaperers.* It’s a little different and I’d like to state right off the bat that <b>this story gets fairly dark and I will NOT be giving warnings for individual chapters, so MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE TAGS. </b> ** On a brighter note, this story is fully finished so you won’t have to randomly wait several weeks for the next chapter.*** I’ll try to post roughly two a week until I’m done. This is going to become a series, but this is the main plot. The other stories will probably be about side characters as well as the consequences of this first story.

*it was not the only thing distracting me from Mindscaperers. I was also reading a lot of fanfiction for fandoms I'm not even in.

**I said something similar in my recent Infinity Train story, We Only Broke The Train A Little Bit (More Than You).

***Past Me wishes. I ended up with like . . . five or six chapters. Maybe seven?

My notes get better - or worse, depending on how you look at it.

The end notes for chapter three are as follows:

me: shipping is weird

My brain: pff imply stuff so hard

Me: but they’re kids

My brain: pfffffff

Me: I can’t write Stan.

My brain: make him a major character

Me: no violence

Also me: let’s write the most descriptive violence I’ve ever written–WAIT NO THAT HASN’T HAPPENED YET

Let’s write a cute lighthearted story–AHHHHHHHHH never mind

And the penultimate and also best/worst note from the end of chapter four: Yes, they’re coping with being tortured by flirting with each other. Don’t judge me–them. Don’t judge them.

. . . and now we know why I abandoned this story.

But there's on more note! At the end of Chapter 5, I wrote about the fairy family I included in my story. (I'm going to write these fairies into a different story because I love them so much. But not this story.)

Here's the note: Zaelynn is the firstborn and Annabel is the 870th child. Also, sistren is an actual word.*

Pretty sure it's basically "brethren" but specifically for girls.

So yeah. That was . . . I'm honestly concerned about the me of 6-7 months ago.

"WE ARE JUST ROOMMATES. PLATONIC. WE'VE BEEN TELLING YOU THIS FOR THE LAST 33 YEARS!"

(They were actually all the ages they were in their respective series! I guess they learned time travel lol cuz they were all teenagers/young adults.)

Last night, I had a dream where there was a fanfic where all the main characters of Infinity Train only had platonic relationships between them and I was so happy because I'm not particularly invested in any of the common Infinity Train ships. They all held hands and danced in a circle?? I think they were in a band together?? Maybe?? Ryan had his guitar, anyway. He and Min-Gi were roommates and Ryan actually shouted "WE'RE NOT DATING! WE'RE ROOMMATES!" And not like in a "we're in denial" way but in a "we legitimately are platonic friends" way. Now that I think about it, the dream was really weird.

So I'm writing the Half Reversed Reunion AU and I went back to add more stuff but then got distracted making my previous post about the AU and when I went to write it I was greeted with this sentence.

Dipper was sketching on a "Will!"

Started rewatching Infinity Train recently, and something I find interesting about the fandom is that everyone seems to be taking the mirror world at face value? Like, for a setting where literally everything supernatural on the train is directly fabricated by the train, I see a surprisingly high number of fanworks that assume the chrome car just happens to be the intersection point to a total-third-party mirror dimension.

In a lot of ways, I like Lake’s story more if she and the four other reflections popped into being with 13+ years of fabricated memories the split second Tulip set foot in the car. It plays wonderfully into her overall identity crisis and it dovetails nicely with how Mace seems to be acting more as a mouthpiece for the train during episode 8.

It also would play nicely with the vague frustration Lake has whenever Jesse tries to wheedle information about the Mirror world out of her- the train never intended its worldbuilding to stand up to prolonged scrutiny, It didn’t expect any human to be engaging with the set piece for more than like a minute.
