Part 4 of my Impera ghoul designs: Swiss and Mountain. These two were the hardest for me to figure out but hopefully, they turned out alright Previous designs: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 Headcanons under the cut:

Mountain

During the Prequelle era he had long hair and it was occasionally braided by the ghoulettes. Once Impera came, he decided to cut it so it wouldn't get in the way while he worked (Swiss held a funeral for the loss)

Flowers grow on his horns during the spring

He wears different pants to accommodate his hooves and help him move easily while drumming, it's tailored to look like the regular ghoul uniform

His biggest weakness: Freshly waxed floors

Swiss

His eyes are hidden most of the time but the Siblings are advised not to look directly at his eyes specifically

Styles his hair in multiple ways after finding a fashion magazine

Very silent when he moves, Copia got so sick of getting jumpscared by the ghoul that he placed bells by the end of his tail. Swiss thinks it's funny and uses the bells to annoy him instead by constantly jingling them

Some Pebble x Alpha angst for the uber cool @caesar-xx ! 'S not as long as I wanted it to be, and I know it took a while to get out, but I hope you love it anyway <3

Nights like this were Pebble's favourites, he believed wholeheartedly. Curled up with Alpha, his fire ghoul, while snow fell outside in a thick, freezing blanket he knew he was safe from so long as he stayed right where he was. He could feel Alpha's hands in his hair, fingers combing through and massaging at his scalp as both purred. It was loud - the kind of purr that came from deep within, a sound of pure comfort and content, adoring love. This is the place he loved to be, needed to be, a warm embrace that flooded not only his mind but his soul, too, filled him up with only the feeling of being so delightfully wanted and cared for.

Which made it all the more painful when he later caught sight of Alpha cosied up with Chain, tails coiled together and buried deep within a nest of blankets.

It's stupid to be so worked up, he thought on his way to see ♡ Mist ♡. His feet dragged along the floor - Alpha probably would've lectured him for that had he been with him. Had he cared, his brain supplied, feeling more than a little wounded at seeing the two ancients together. They weren't exclusive, he knew, but sometimes he wanted to be a little selfish. Wanted to know those nights spent together weren't just Alpha using him as a stand-in for a much better ghoul. Someone who could better fulfil his needs, knew exactly what he wanted when he wanted it. Hell, Chain probably knew what Alpha needed before the thought even graced the fire ghoul's mind - he'd certainly seen it passing the remote or Alpha's mug of tea before he'd turned his head to ask for it.

"Just a perk of knowing each other so long." Chain had told him when he asked about it.

Maybe if he payed more attention, he'd know how to please Alpha better? Oh, who was he kidding - he was so lovesick he poured over every detail, frantically over-analysed every reaction, no matter how small the twitch of his nose or quirk of a brow, yet it seemed the one holding his heart in a grip so tight it bordered on painful would always seek the comforting embrace of someone leagues above any tiny little thing he could offer. Tears that'd stingingly pricked at his eyes the whole journey had finally started to fall, spilling down sweet, fuzzy green cheeks as he raised a trembling hand to knock at Mist's door.

She was his dearest friend, his closest confidant, but the concerned pity in its eyes had his lip quivering and a sob bubbling in his throat, threatening to force its way out and reveal just how much he was hurting before he was really ready to admit it. He hated it, feeling so pathetic from just the sight of a cuddle that truly could've been anything, could've meant anything, but that's just the curse he was summoned with. Too sensitive, too quick to jump to conclusions he knew nothing about. His head was so foggy with swirling thoughts that he barely even registered when Mist wrapped one arm around him, her other fumbling to close the door as she pulled Pebble inside its room.

Pebble tried to speak, feeling the need to justify his weak sobs, but nothing more than a gurgled whimper would form from the depths of his now hollow heart. Mist didn't mind, didn't say anything as it led Pebble deeper into her nest. She didn't need to, not really - she probably already knew about what happened; it was rare for Mist to either not figure something out or just simply not know before anyone had told it the Ministry's hottest gossip. It just knew everything that happened, sometimes even before it happened. Carefully, she pulled Pebble down to curl up with it, bundling the two of them up in blankets stolen from the rest of the pack, silently listening to choked sobs, wheezed gasps, and incoherent babbling with the heavy-hearted concern of someone who actually cared. Way better than cuddling with Alpha, Pebble thought bitterly as he snuggled closer to Mist, tucking his face in its neck. He didn't mean it - of course he didn't, he loved Alpha with every fibre of his, admittedly tiny, being - but in that moment, being filled with a cruel resentment was what he needed. Mist understood, coiling its tail around his with a comfort that only a best friend could provide.

Though it felt like hours to his rapidly spiralling mind, Pebble's tears ran dry shortly after Mist started running its hands through his hair, a quiet lullaby forcing its way into his mind. She purred to ease him into calming down, the sound a slightly nasally yet still decently low rumble from deep within her chest. "I-I just- I don't understand," Pebble began, frown etched into usually cheerful features and voice a gravelly, hoarse wheeze. "Is.. Is it- Do you think it's because I'm-" Mist's growl cut him off, the tiniest baring of fangs proof she was more than willing to argue if he finished his sentence. "If he values any part of his body, it better fucking not be." She'd grumbled, holding her most beloved friend just that little bit tighter. Protectively. It'd had spats with the ancients on more than one occasion, beyond ready to do so again if her expertise was needed - either with Pebble's permission or without it - should Alpha be needlessly cruel about the body Pebble was summoned into.

The two spent the rest of the day curled up together, Mist distracting Pebble with anything it could think of anytime it saw Pebble get too in his own head. She was subtle about it, of course, all smooth topic changers and practised diversions perfectly crafted from so many years of being his shoulder to cry on. Funnily enough, it was Alpha that found them, heaving been sent by Terzo to fetch them for dinner. Mist and Pebble had long since fallen asleep, eased by the soft comfort of knowing the one they shared such a warm embrace with was one who truly cared for them. While the sight squeezed at Alpha's heart - for why, he wasn't sure - his frown only deepened when he saw Pebble's brow furrow in his sleep. He decided to linger, then, in the doorway, watching closely and internally debating whether or not to approach.

Hearing Pebble's soft whimper was what made him kick into action, crossing the room in seconds to press a gentle kiss to his favourite earth ghoul's head. He didn't even truly know why he did it - it was just instinctive, something he did before he thought about doing it. What made him pull back with a start was the way Mist growled so deeply in her sleep, with such an intense need to protect that even Alpha recoiled. The tone of her snarl was so fierce, so daring - the kind of growl only seen when a ghoul's mate was threatened.

Oh, he thought. That must be why Pebble hadn't been spending as much time with him recently. He must've gotten fed up waiting for Alpha to confess, leading him to find someone else. Mist. If it had to be anyone, he was glad it was it. The two had always been close, so he couldn't really say he was all that surprised. Or.. Maybe that'd always been Pebble's true desire. To be mated with Mist. Sathanas, was that all Alpha was to him? A backup, a last resort? Someone to run to when Mist was busy? Anger bubbled up inside him, he could feel it flooding his veins like a thick tar, hot as molten rock. A perfect combination of their elements. He knew he wasn't the most outwardly affectionate of the ghouls - hells, sometimes he even literally shoved others away when they got too much - but that's no reason to just toss him aside like he's not as important! Just because he doesn't express it the same as them doesn't mean he's incapable of love!

He stormed off, determined to go find someone who would actually take him as he was instead of yearning for him to be something more.
