Not gonna lie, I blushed and giggled with this Frobin interaction đ„°
No one is doing it like Monkey D. Luffy. Heâs a god. Heâs a wanted criminal. Heâs an idiot. He is an impeccable judge of character. He will punch an eight year old in the face. He forgets to mention people who are incredibly important to him. Heâs an asexual icon. He has absolutely no marketable skills. Heâs a selfish asshole. He has a very strong moral code that he decides entirely in the moment and will never explain to anyone ever.

Your head was pounding.
The first thing you noticed was the cold stone beneath you. The second? The tight weight around your wrists.
Sea prism cuffs.
Then you heard his voice.
â(Y/N)... hey, wake up. Please.â
You opened your eyes slowly, vision blurryâbut there he was. Luffy. Sitting on the ground next to you, wrists shackled just like yours, his hat hanging off one knee.
âLuffy?â you rasped.
His eyes softened instantly. âYouâre okay.â His voice cracked just a little, relief pouring out like a flood. âThank god.â
You tried to move, but the sea prism cuffs made every muscle scream. âWhereâŠ?â
âSome bastards grabbed us when we were separated from the crew,â he said through clenched teeth. âI woke up first. Tried to break the chains, butâŠâ he held up his wrists with a bitter laugh, âI canât even stretch.â
You glanced at him. His face was pale. His hair clung to his forehead. He was furious. But he was holding it inâfor you.
And then the door creaked open.
âWell, well,â a voice drawled. A tall man with a jagged scar across his cheek strolled in, a small crew of thugs behind him. âOur little captain and his pretty friend are finally both awake.â
Luffyâs body went rigid.
âDonât talk to them,â he said lowly.
The man smirked. âAw, come on. We just wanna have a little fun.â He stalked toward you, eyes lingering far too long.
Luffy snarled. Actually snarled. âI said donât touch them.â
You flinched when the man crouched beside you, brushing a finger under your chin. âTheyâre a cute one. What do you think, Straw Hat? You sure you wouldnât rather trade places?â
âDonât touch them!â Luffy bellowed, lunging against his chains. His whole body shook with rage, fists clenched so tight they were turning white. âIf you lay one more finger on themââ
The man chuckled, unfazed. âWhatâre you gonna do? Youâre powerless.â
Luffyâs eyes burnedâpure fire behind them, like he was ready to kill with just his stare. âYou donât get it,â he growled. âEven if I canât use my powers⊠I will still tear you apart if you hurt them.â
You felt itâhis presence. Even cuffed, drained, and chained to a wall, Luffy still felt like a storm ready to break loose.
The thug paused, like he finally noticed the danger in the room. The way Luffyâs aura shiftedâdeadly, protective, unyielding.
âYâknow what?â the man said, standing. âMaybe weâll just give you two a little more time to think about your situation.â
As soon as the door slammed shut, you slumped.
Luffy turned to you immediately. âAre you okay? Did he hurt you?â
âNo,â you whispered. âBut⊠he scared me.â
âI wonât let him touch you again,â Luffy said fiercely, eyes locked on yours. âNo matter what.â
You leaned against his shoulder. He leaned right back.
âWeâre gonna get out of here,â he said softly, like a promise. âI donât care howâIâll find a way. Iâll protect you.â
The cell was cold, silentâexcept for the soft clinking of chains when either of you shifted.
You sat beside Luffy, arms brushing, wrists heavy with sea prism cuffs. Every time he glanced at you, you saw the storm still behind his eyes. He was still furiousâat himself, the enemy, the cuffs. All of it.
âWeâll get out soon,â he muttered, gaze fixed on the locked door. âThe crewâs gotta be looking.â
âI know,â you said quietly. âButâŠâ
Before you could finish, the door creaked open again.
Same guy. Same smug smirk. This time? A little more confident. Like he was sure no one was coming for you.
âWell, Straw Hat. You said I shouldnât touch them,â he said with a sneer, walking toward you, âbut whatâre you gonna do if I do it anyway?â
Luffyâs voice dropped into something cold. Dangerous.
âDonât.â
But the guy just laughedâand then grabbed you by the arm, yanking you roughly toward him.
That was it.
Luffy. Lost. His. Mind.
âGET YOUR HANDS OFF THEM!â
He lunged. Full force. The chains snapped taut with the impact, but it didnât stop him from fighting like a wild animal, dragging the entire wall if he had to, roaring with fury.
You cried out as the man shoved you against the bars, but thenâ
âBOOM!â
The wall behind the cell exploded.
Smoke. Dust. Screaming.
â(Y/N)!!â a voice calledâNami. Then anotherâZoro. Usopp. Sanji. Robin. Brook. The crew was here.
The enemy turned just in time for Zoro to charge him, blades flashing.
Sanji darted straight to you, kicking the guy in the gut and dragging him off you.
Luffyâs cuffs clattered to the ground as Franky, with his giant hands, crushed them open. The second they were offâ
Luffy didnât move.
He didnât even look at the enemy yet.
He rushed to you.
â(Y/N)!â He dropped to his knees in front of you, grabbing your face gently but frantically, eyes scanning every inch. âAre you hurt? Did he touch you? Tell me.â
You blinked back tears, heart hammering. âIâm okayâjust bruised, Iâm okayââ
He crushed you into his arms before you could finish.
âI was gonna kill him,â he mumbled against your shoulder. âI was gonna kill him if they didnât show up. I couldnât do anything, I couldnât protect youââ
âLuffy.â You cupped his cheek, making him look at you. âYou did. You protected me the whole time. And weâre safe now.â
He exhaled shakily, nose brushing against yours, eyes still burning but softer now.
ââŠOkay,â he whispered. Then he turned slowlyâtoward the enemy.
Sanji had him on the floor. Zoro stood nearby, arms crossed.
âDonât kill him,â Nami warned.
âIâm not gonna kill him,â Luffy said, voice flat. âBut heâs gonna wish I did.â
You didnât stop him.
Because in that moment, Luffy wasnât just a captain. He was a storm wrapped in rubber and rage.
But before walking away, he looked back at you one last time.
âIâll be right back,â he said, gently. âAnd after this⊠Iâm not letting you out of my sight.
Hours later you were back on the Going Merry. It felt like heaven compared to that dungeon.
You were clean, bandaged, wrapped in warm clothes, and finally free of the sea prism cuffs. But the whole world still felt a little heavy.
You sat on the bed in the infirmary cabin, staring at your hands. Your wrists were sore, skin still red where the cuffs had clamped down. And your body ached, sureâbut your heart ached worse.
Then the door opened quietly.
Luffy stood there, silent. His vest was off, bandages around one shoulder, and he looked... tired. Not physically, but emotionally. The kind of tired you donât sleep off.
âHey,â he said softly.
You smiled weakly. âHey.â
He walked in slowly, like he wasnât sure if he should, until you patted the bed beside you.
He satâthen instantly leaned into you, head dropping to your shoulder like a magnet. His arms wrapped around your waist tight, like he still thought someone might try to pull you away again.
âI couldnât sleep,â he murmured.
âYou didnât even try.â
ââŠI didnât wanna leave you alone.â
You reached up, running your fingers through his hair. âYou saved me, Luffy. Even when we were chained up. Even when you couldnât fight. You were still protecting me.â
His grip tightened.
âI hate that he touched you,â he mumbled, voice rough. âI hate that I couldnât stop him. If the crew hadnât shown upââ
âBut they did.â You turned toward him, placing your hands on his cheeks. âAnd now Iâm safe. Iâm here, Luffy. With you.â
His big brown eyes met yours, vulnerable and wide. âI thought I lost you.â
You leaned your forehead against his. âYou didnât. You never will.â
He closed the tiny space between you and kissed youâsoft, slow, and a little shaky. Like he needed to feel you to believe you were real.
Then he pulled back, just a little. âIâm gonna stay here tonight.â
You blinked. âIn the infirmary?â
âWith you,â he said, laying down right beside you and pulling the blanket over both of you. âRight here. All night. Not going anywhere.â
You smiled, letting your head rest on his chest as he curled around you.
âIâm not letting you out of my sight again,â he mumbled sleepily.
You tucked your hand over his heart. âGood. Because I donât want to be anywhere else.â
Outside, the ship rocked gently with the ocean.
Inside, in the quiet warmth of that cabin, Luffy held you like you were the most precious thing in the world.
And this time, he wouldnât have to fight to protect you. Because now, you were both home.

A strange clanging roused you from your slumber.
You reached for the sheets beside you only to find them void of warmth. A sliver of moonlight penetrated the darkness of your room through the cracked open door that led to the castle gardens outside.
You slid the wooden frame open, revealing a figure hunched over on the ground, half hidden by the shadows, "Sanji, is that you? Are you alright?â
The banging stopped.
"Sorry, did I wake you? Please go back to bed, sweetheart, Iâm fine. Iâll be there in a minute."
You observed him for a momentâtaking in his seemingly permanent frown, the bags under his eyes, the slouch in his shouldersâand voiced the thought that had been bothering you since the battle on Onigashima ended a couple of days ago, "You look⊠different. Tired."
He refused to meet your eyes, his gaze remained fixed on the lush greenery of the garden.
"Tell me what's wrong."
Your plea broke his facade, and Sanji was no longer able to pretend that he was okay.
His breaths turned into short, shallow gasps. He gulped, jaws clenched tight, before he finally admitted, "I can't feel."
He pounded his fist once more against his abdomen to prove his point, the clang echoing unforgivingly amid the otherwise silent night, "I can't feel anything. There's no pain."
You surged forward, catching his wrist before his fist could fall upon his body again.
"No! Don't touch me!" He rasped, though there was no fight when you gently guided his hand to rest in his lap, "Please, I don't want to hurt you."
"Sanjiâ"
"It's that wretched Germa suit. It did something to me. Something foul."
He clutched his head, fingers digging into his scalp so forcefully that a few golden strands came loose and fluttered to the ground.
"I-I'm not the man you fell in love with, nor the one you once might've adored." He rambled, "I'm not k-kind or, or gentleâ"
"Sanji.â
You cradled his face in between your hands, pushing away his hair to take in both of his misty eyes. They were filled with a rare vulnerability that made your heart ache.
A choked sob escaped him as he finally looked at you.
In a voice so small it was nearly impossible to comprehend, he whispered, "Would you fall in love with me again? If you knew all I've done?"
You knew he was not only referring to what happened on Onigashima.
You didnât witness what went down between him and Luffy on Whole Cake Island, and you never had the urge to ask for the details. Sanji was back on the Sunny, he and Luffy were okay, and that was all that mattered.
Sanji's expression turned into one of disgust as he gestured to his body, "The things I cannot change⊠Would you love me all the same?"
The answer to that was as clear as day, but somehow, you doubt that he'd believe you just like that.
"What happened?" You asked instead, "During your fight with Queen?"
He grimaced as he recalled the bitter memories, "I⊠lost control. My mind went blank, then that girl was on the floor, bleeding."
He shut his eyes tight, "In the end, I found out that Queen was responsible for that, but I still can't forget that look she gave me. That girl⊠She was afraid of me. And rightfully so. She should be afraid of meâI'm turning into a monster."
Your chest burned with hatred for all the peopleâor rather, monstersâthat made your sweet Sanji feel this way.
Your fingers left his face as you stood up resolutely, "A monster, huh? If that's true, could you do something for me?"
He stared up blankly at you.
"Kick me."
Sanji fell on his knees to the ground in front of you. His face soured, brows furrowed as if the simple thought of bringing harm to you physically pained him, "How could you say that? No! I would never!"
He caught both of your hands, kissing them in turn with a gentleness that was oh so familiar to you.
You smiled, "Then I guess you're still my Sanji."
His eyes widened, then the dam broke.
His body shook as he weeped uncontrollably, and you crouched down again to take him into your arms.
Within seconds, the fabric of your yukata was soaked with tears and snot, but you never loosened your hold on him. Your hand rubbed soothing circles on his back as you let him ride out his grief.
And once his sobs turned into sniffles, then into steady breaths, you intertwined your fingers with his, your other hand reaching up to caress his cheek, "Can you feel this?"
He nodded.
"This?" You asked as you pressed your lips to his neck, leaving a tender kiss that left Sanji sighing blissfully.
"Does your heart still race when I do this?" You whispered in his ear, bringing your lips down to his and staying there for a few seconds before you pulled back, barely.
"Yes," He breathed out as your hand moved to his chest, confirming the quick rhythm of his heart underneath your palm.
"Then you're still my Sanji. You're still human. And nothing could change that."
You rested your forehead against his, "I will fall in love with you over and over again. I don't care how, where, or when. No matter what happens, you're mine."
Cupping his face, you made him look into your eyes, "Don't tell me you're not the same person. You're always my Sanji."
The relief was obvious in his sigh.
Sanji leaned forward timidly, capturing your lips with a nervousness that hadn't been present since the first time he kissed you many, many moons ago, "I love you."
"And I love you. Always."
You took his hand and pulled him to his feet, âLetâs get back to bed.â
He followed obediently.
Limbs entangled with yours, Sanji finally slept through the night.
