How bad do you think his deja vu is?
I love the fact that, even though Liu Kang changed a bit of everyone, either in personality or story or whatever, he DID leave Kung Lao as he was in his timeline. Because, that’s his best friend right there. His best man.
How can he bring himself to change something about Kung Lao? How can he bring himself to change his bestie? Kung Lao may not remember him, but Liu Kang does. He remembers. And leaving his friend as he remembers him, might be Liu Kang’s own way of grieving with the fact that the people he used to know, no longer exist.
Sure, there are other timelines where his friends are still alive. But as the Time Keeper, the God of Fire and the guardian of the Earthrealm, he can’t exactly go and visit them. The ones in his universe are the only ones he gets to see daily.
Yet only Geras and him remember.

'Normalize morally grey and questionable woman characters!'
Please, you people couldn't handle Gwen Stacy making questionable life choices after being disowned in the most difficult stage of her life.
Let's normalize teenage girls making mistakes hows about that huh???
"Oh, Kendrick is taking it too far with the rap bee-"
Shut the literal fuck up lmao. I hope he never stops making diss tracks. I hope we see Drake crying on ig live. I hope the entire summer is soundtracked by his hate for that Canadian loser.
And it’s the same pose EVERY TIME bro😭🙏🏼(not complaining)
BOOM SHAKALAKAAAAA
Honestly, if they really wanted Bi-Han to kill his own father, they should have made him do it for a different reason. Sektor already killed his old man out of greed and lust for power. Bi-Han's motive had the potential to be more tragic and would have made him much more sympathetic. However, it implies going with the Midway Timeline version of the Sub-Zero bros' lore and the old Lin Kuei clan, which I heavily prefer. I don't even know if people care about the former timelines anymore. 🫥
I honestly love the old idea of their father being a Lin Kuei warrior who worked undercover in the U.S, who charmed an innocent woman and had three children with her, only to reveal his true colors and intentions when his sons were old enough to bring into the clan. The poor mother tried her best to hide from him and keep her children safe, but there wasn't much she could do.
Just picture this : Bi-Han and Kuai Liang, as young children, being taken away from their mom, being taken away from their home. Forced into a harsh life they didn't want, in a place where they weren't allowed to stay together and comfort each other. Imagine Bi-Han, unable to save his little brother as both of them were being turned into heartless killing machines. Imagine Bi-Han, forcing himself to distance himself from Kuai Liang to ensure both of their safety, no matter how much it hurt him.
"Do not trust anyone. Least of all, family."
But, really, he cared about his little bro so much... 😢
"Tundra, how you have grown..." 😭
We don't even know what happened to their mother and little sister, they could be dead for all we know. What if Bi-Han, being older at the time of the kidnapping, still remembered what happened ? He would have every reason to hate his father for what he did to them and for what he did to him and Kuai Liang.
Of course he would let the bastard die as soon as he had the chance.
And he would be right.
Idk who needs to hear this (I do), but if everyone had a happy life where nothing went wrong ever, there wouldn't be a story to tell.
Not to mention a big facet of MK1 that is repeated, IDK how many times, is that Liu Kang gave everyone the freedom to choose. He laid the foundation for existence and then stepped back. Shang Tsung and Quan Chi made the decisions that led to them being a conman and a coal miner. Liu Kang didn't put them there. They put themselves there.
That scene where they're blaming him for their problems? That is them, deliberately choosing to shirk responsibility for their own actions and shifting the blame onto him because it is easier to believe that a Time God, who isn't even a Time God anymore, was conspiring against them the whole time than to believe that they are faced with the same consequences as everyone else. They would rather scheme and plot to get to power than get there honorably - and they end up doing the latter anyway once the ruse is discovered.
That is not the writer saying, "Hey! Look at this plot hole! Isn't Liu Kang petty for punishing them for a past that doesn't exist anymore?" That is the writer saying, "This is the type of personality that these two have. One of no accountability. One who believes that their problems are everyone elses fault." Because again, if you were paying attention to the story, and not taking that one scene out of context, you would have put Liu Kang giving up his timekeeping powers long before they came along together with the fact that they ended up where they are on their own.
The entire point to the story is that we choose our own destinies. That's what Mortal Kombat has always been about.
You may not like this story. You may even have valid criticism of it. But this is what they were trying to convey the entire time you were thirsting over Bi-Han's arms or Johnny Cage's ass.
