Tyrannus forficatus - Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
Scissor-tailed Flycatchers are so amazing, I’ve never seen them before my trip to Oklahoma. They were everywhere.
Today I went birding. It was freezing, but it was worth it. Here's a list of what I saw, I'll post pictures soon. (Unfortunately I don't have pictures of all the birds) -Indigo Bunting (2) -Wood Thrush (7) -Eastern Bluebird (5) -Blue Jay (8) -American Robin (9) -Northern Flicker (1) -Wild Tukey (2) -Black Vulture (6) -Turkey Vulture (3) -Scarlet Tanager (1) -Baltimore Oriole (3) -Tree Swallow (27) -Barn Swallow (13) -American Goldfinch (4) -Field Sparrow (3) -Yellow-rumped Warbler (2) -Red-bellied Woodpecker (2) -Pileated Woodpecker (1)
We had a lot of birds in our area on the Christmas Bird Count.
Male Northern Cardinal
Why is it that these cardinals always look so shocked when their mouths are open??
Sialia sialis - Eastern Bluebird He’s actually a lot brighter. The coloring just went a bit bad since I took this photo through a window, and it was cloudy outside.
He's beautiful
Setophaga coronata - Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black Vulture We named the little fella Charlie. His wing is broken/fractured (We're not sure which), and it healed badly, but Charlie seems to be doing a great job at surviving anyway.
