ZSASZ PULLED ANOTHER GUMMY BEAR FROM HIS BAG, only for it to disappear from his hands. He knew he’d been holding it and it wasn’t like it’d fallen. He had a better grip on things than that. No - the bear appeared in her hands. Without crossing the room, without breaking a sweat, she’d managed to take what was his. It was fascinating, though it unsettled him in part too. Would she try to steal from him? It would be a frightfully dumb move if she did, as magic or not he would hunt her down. Kai would hunt her down as well, and he was actually magic. A quick glance over at the dragon told Zsasz that he was eyeing them both, though he stayed curled up as though it wasn’t a big deal. He’d learned from his father well, after all.
HE WAS MORE CURIOUS THAN WORRIED, THOUGH. he ran with people who could take him apart if they tried, but they never did because he often showed them interest and people tended to like that. They liked being the center of attention, whether that attention be loud or quiet. He couldn’t help but laugh at her statement. ❝ I like you. You’re right about politicians. They’re all corrupt and easy to mold. You just gotta figure out what they want. ❞
HIS GRIN HAD ALWAYS BEEN SHARK-LIKE. it’s the word yules used for it, and he felt like it fit well. Zsasz the Shark. He gave that grin now, all teeth and cold eyes. ❝ I take it it doesn’t worry you if I am. Most people would be slowly backing towards the door. Or pulling a weapon on me. ❞ He crossed his legs, leaning back against the wall behind him. ❝ I am, though not to everyone. Villain seems like such a black and white kinda word. I go against general society’s morals, for the most part, but I protect people too. ❞ Falcone, Oswald, his Zsaszettes.
Yennefer gave a modest smile and a little shrug that said she knew as much about each of his statements already. She could be quite likable when she wanted to be (which wasn't all that often), and she knew exactly what made a king or a duke or any of those others tick. A large majority of the time all she had to do was primp their ego a little and bring up whatever woman they had inappropriately frolicked with, and she would be set. “I know I’m right. It was my job for a few years. It's quite easy to make them all think what I want is what they want, but I got bored of such drivel after a while.”
Looking him over, she shook her head while exhaling a laugh. Despite the intensity to his smile, his gaze, it was nothing she could be afraid of. She had battled alongside witchers on any number of different potions which left their eyes and faces haunting or sickening or otherwise intimidating to gaze upon.
“No, it doesn’t worry me. It may come as a surprise, but I haven't felt intimidated at all in this shop of yours. Quite the opposite, actually. Strangely, it reminds me of a place I’d find back home.” Yennefer made no movements, save to shift the weight on her feet and idly fiddle with the charm on her choker to ensure the clasp was still in the back. “Despite the colour scheme of my wardrobe, my thoughts are not black and white. I understand what you mean. I think I’ve been cast as a villain in peoples’ eyes more than once, and maybe I would be more permanently labeled that if it were not for the people I remain close to.” Yennefer was quite sure that she would be a vastly different person if not for Geralt’s presence in her life, and Ciri went to further mellow out the cruelty that used to run in her veins.
“I think we have much more in common than I initially thought, you and I,” she remarked after a pause. She extended a hand in the space between them. “Yennefer of Vengerberg-- or Wilczynski, as I’m known here.”

Catra found xemself laughing as xe watching Midna spin around. She looked quite elegant, and if xe were being honest with xemself (which xe rarely were), if it weren’t for xem being in love with Adora, xe’d probably have a thing for Midna. She was quite beautiful. And she was right. Catra and Midna did have a ring to it.
Catra tilted their head. They had no idea what a pannini was, but from context clues, they could guess it was some kind of food.
“Actually yeah, that would be great,” Catra said, their stomach growling at just that moment. “I don’t know if I’ve eaten today. I’ve been a bit preoccupied with the whole escape attempt and being miserable thing, so I forgot.”
Midna seemed overjoyed at the idea of having company. It was becoming quite clear how joyful and bouncy she truly was.
“I understand. I’ve been there once or twice myself. But now you have me to perk you up a bit! Now, let's see if I can find the way back to town proper.”
Her eyes scanned their surroundings, them being so well adjusted to the dark made it easier to search for her target. It only took a few seconds before she found what she was looking for.
Gently tugging on Catra’s sleeve, she pointed, “Footpath’s right over there. Should make our walk much easier!”
As Midna linked arms with Catra (not really knowing or caring if Catra was a link-arms-with type of person or not), she began to walk towards the little path. For a moment, she considered the person beside her. Xe was shorter than Midna, far shorter, but that wasn't a big surprise as she was an abnormally tall being for all who weren't Twili. Catra seemed an interesting friend to have— mysterious background, angst, and all. Xe was quite pretty too, but not exactly Midna’s type.
“Sooo,” Midna began, not liking to stew in silence. “Do you have a place in town yet, or are you still at the B&B?”

“Oh” he breathed out as his gaze moved to land on her beautiful face. Just standing there, flabbergasted by her words, Geralt then ran a hand down his face. “Oh I am such a fool” he whispered. Of course his mind went into chaos mode the second she started to talk. He was in a constant fear of losing her and yet he always said and did things that could possibly push her away. Geralt was not only confusing to other people but also to himself. He had all of these feelings yet he didn’t know how to express them. He had all of these opinions and yet he didn’t know how to say them without coming across in a certain way.
“I am sorry"
Rubbing his forearm for a couple of seconds, Geralt then felt a small smile form on his lips. "If you want me back then I am the happiest Witcher in the world” he extended one of his hands towards her and arched a brow. “Would you like to join me for dinner? Or do you want to be alone for the rest of the day?”
“Yes. You are a fool,” Yennefer replied with an exasperated fondness. She shook her head a little, happy to have finally gotten through that thick skull of his. She didn't need the ability to read his mind to figure out how sorry he was feeling right now, it was evident enough. “I know, Geralt. I know you are.”
Reaching for his hand, she accepted it with a practiced ease. She thought about his offer momentarily; it was hardly a difficult choice. She had spent so much time alone these past months, and didn’t want to do it for longer than she had to.
Despite her striking independence and tendency to bite at the hands that fed her, she desperately hated being lonely.
“How about dinner, then you can show me just how much you've missed me?“ she proposed, mischief gleaming in her eyes.

Midna loved spending time with people— always had. Being alone was never quite her thing, not that it was really an option growing up in the castle. Even as an adult, she busied herself with company and spending time with others.
More often than not her urge to find people to pass the time with led to her going to them. It was typically easier for both parties that way, as Midna didn’t have a job to keep her tied to a schedule like most of her friends did. It was a rarity anyone ever made it back to her own apartment, which was a shame considering how nice it was. Despite her unemployment status, Midna was far from strapped for cash. She had a hefty amount in a savings account which allowed for her to do whatever she pleased in comfort.
Midna never hesitated in sharing that comfort from her friends when she could and when they would allow. It's why she invited Zelda over for what she heard people around here call a ‘girls night’. She knew her fellow princess had been having a time lately, and figured she could use a bit of cheering up.
Luckily for Zelda, Midna considered herself a professional at brightening people’s moods.
When she heard the knock at her front door, she cheerfully bounded over to open it. “Hey Zelds! You made it! Glad you were able to find the place alright.”

SAMWISE WAS THE KIND OF GENTLE THAT NEVER WOULD HAVE SURVIVED IN GOTHAM. gotham breaks you of gentleness and innocence, and ivy knew that even if she’d been broken before she stepped foot into the city. It’s why she belonged there, and there were few other human-filled cities that she would be able to call home. Surprisingly, she didn’t mind working for him though. He handled customers well, and Ivy was allowed to just be with the plants. It had surprised her how much she cared not just about this shop, but about him.
NOT THAT SHE ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT A PERSON THAT WASN’T SELINA OR HARLEY. no, never. He was just more tolerable, that was all. She stepped away from the plant she was misting, giving him a nod. ❝ I don’t mind staying if you need help with a project. I think you and I both know that my skill with plants is unmatched. ❞ Though Sam came close, which was probably why she enjoyed him. He cared about the life in the shop, and the plants liked him back. Some of them whispered about him with such lovestruck-ness it made Ivy pinch them as she walked by.
Running a business was much like tending to a plant. You had to keep it in the right location so that it would flourish, get rid of the dead weight so that the lively parts could survive, and tend to it often, regularly, in the same neat little pattern. Looking back, Sam thought it was why he was so good at it when he had first started. Plants, business, it was stable, and he needed stable. He had gone on his quest with the Ring, but that was out of necessity, not want. Sallow Hills may not be exactly where he wanted to be, but it allowed him to have most of what he wanted, so he could live with it for the time being.
“It is help with a project, I’m needing,” he gave a smile and a nod. He was very appreciative of her skills. Especially in a job like this where he would have to work with things from other worlds entirely, and blindly hope he would get the science right. “I’ve been trying to get these flowers to blossom for a few weeks now, but no matter what I adjust they keep dying off. They aren’t from Earth, so I don’t know what the solution would be. Figured another set of eyes might do some good— if’n you’re willing to look.”

BILL’D LAUGHED THE FIRST TIME MERLIN HAD COME IN WHEN SHE WAS AROUND . but ey had walked slowly through the shop , chattering almost as much as bill did , before picking up one locket and purchasing it . Bill hadn’t liked the locket when it’d come in and tended to stay far away from it , but the idea it was cursed seemed insane . But the guy was convinced .
❝ Oh I’ve only been here for a bit . A few months now I suppose , though it doesn’t feel that long . I knew the Doctor from before we got pulled here . We used to travel together , and they were my tutor . It was a fun time . Nardole was there too , but he hasn’t shown up here . ❞
River was intent to listen to Bill’s explanation. She was so perplexed with her own arrival in town, she often liked to try and find out if anyone else had shared her experience. She understood what Bill had meant about it not feeling like very long. For her, the short weeks she had been there felt much more like a few days.
Nodding, River ran her fingers over the pile of a particularly thick rug. It was not to her taste, but it was soft.
“Oh that sounds nice. I think I’ve always wanted to travel, but I’m not completely positive. I have, erm, memory issues? Apparently it's a common thing in this town. All I really get are inklings and flashes,” she said this without much emotion in her voice, but, if she were honest, River hated the fact that she didn’t know much about herself. She turned it a bit more lighthearted, not wanting to stew in the stress with a complete stranger just trying to sell her some antiques. “Nardole. Interesting name. Is that french?”
