You had recently found out that your boyfriend of three years had been cheating on you. A fantastic start to the new year.  And JJ’s girlfriend had also just broken up with him because apparently “he wasn’t mature enough to be in a serious relationship.” You found the timing of it all to be kind of funny. 

You dated JJ when you guys were fourteen and it was as serious as things could be at fourteen. You dated for about six months but you both just decided that you wanted to date other people and there were no hard feelings. You just realized you liked hanging out as friends better. So that’s what you were for the last five years. Best friends. 

Over the years you watched each other go in and out of relationships and fool around with several people each. But when you met Shane you knew it was something different. He was someone you could see being with for a really long time, maybe even forever. So you were pretty devastated when you found out he had been hooking up with his ex-girlfriend for the better part of a year. And you were embarrassed. You refused to show your face for days after everyone found out. 

JJ’s relationship with his girlfriend Megan wasn’t as serious but you could tell he was upset about the breakup. You never talked about it with each other. Your friends gave you both a few weeks to sulk before announcing a party that they were throwing at the chateau. You were both ordered to get plastered and have a good time. You wanted to object but realized that you were done being hurt over the situation. You just wanted to forget, even if it was just for one night. 

Both the inside and outside of the chateau were completely flooded with people when you arrived. Party Rock Anthem was spilling out of the outdoor speakers as you walked through the yard. You spotted Kie, Sarah, and JB on the porch and made your way over to them. 

“Well, this place is packed.” You smiled and gave each of your friends a hug. “Where’s Pope and JJ?” 

“Pope’s around here somewhere, probably trying to woo a girl about how he wants to be a coroner.” John B chuckled and you all started giggling. “And JJ’s inside getting a drink, I think.” 

“I really need one of those. I’ll be back.” You headed inside and as soon as you opened the door, you ran straight into JJ’s chest. 

“You almost made me spill my beer, princess.” You glared as you looked up at him. 

“I hated it when you called me that when we dated and guess what? I still hate it now.” You spit out but all he does is laugh. 

“Ya know Y/N, I really thought you’d grow out of this bitchy ass attitude when you became an adult, but here we are at nineteen and I’m still waiting.” He smirked and it took everything in you not to smack him. “Hey don’t get all murdery on me. We are supposed to be having fun remember.” 

“Well, I’d have fun murdering you honestly.” You didn’t give him time to respond before you stole his beer out of his hand and turned to run away. 

“Hey, that’s my beer you dick!” He yelled behind you.

“I may be a dick but you still love me.” You teased as you continued to walk away from him. 

“I got no idea why sometimes.” You didn’t bother looking back as he threw his fit and stormed back inside the house. Everyone had gathered around the fire so you joined them.

“Let’s play truth or dare.” Sarah spat out, excited. 

“Sarah, we’re not fifteen anymore.” You teased and she rolled her eyes. “Please. Come on, it’ll be fun.” You gave in, sitting next to her. There was a circle of about fifteen people by the time you actually started the game. 

Somehow Kie had convinced JJ to participate and he sat across the fire from you. You purposely waited till he was looking at you before you took a huge swig of the beer you had stolen from him. He shot you daggers with his eyes and you promptly responded by giving him the finger. He smiled back at you and mouthed “love you.” You rolled your eyes. 

That was your dynamic. You never missed a chance to poke fun at one another. But when it came down to it, you really cared about each other. JJ taught you how to drive a stick when you were sixteen, how to fish, how to smoke pot, and how to change a flat tire. You taught him things too, like how to tie a tie, how to illegally download music, and how to woo a girl on a first date. You helped him study for tests for history class while he helped you with algebra.

“Okay Kie, truth or dare?” Sarah asked her. 

“Dare.” 

“I dare you to chug your whole beer.” 

“Too easy.” Kie responded, gulping down the beer in seconds. “Okay, my turn. JB, truth or dare?” 

The game went on for what seemed like an hour or two. Most people chose truth but your favorite was when JJ dared John B to backflip off the dock into the water. You were three beers deep when people started passing around a bottle of Jack Daniels and you were pretty tipsy when it came to be your turn again. 

“Y/N, truth or dare?” Kie asked you. 

“Truth.” You played the safe option cause there was no way you were getting in the water or streaking through the yard. 

“Out of all your exes who was the best kisser?” You blushed a little. Even though you only dated for a short period of time and you guys were kids, JJ was always good with his mouth. You debated lying because you really didn’t want to add to his already enormous ego but the game is called truth or dare for a reason. 

“JJ fucking Maybank.” You answered and his eyes immediately met yours. You saw a small smirk before he winked at you while everyone hollered and made kissy faces at the two of you. Kie and Sarah were whispering in each other’s ears when you broke eye contact with JJ.

The game went on for another two rounds and by the time it was Sarah’s turn again, you were feeling really good. You couldn’t remember the last time you drank this much. But you were having fun with your friends and JJ definitely was too. You had noticed that his eyes couldn’t seem to stay off of you after the whole kiss question. But you didn’t really think anything of it. He was probably just surprised by your answer. 

“Alright my turn. JJ, truth or dare?” Sarah asked with a huge smile on her face. If you had known better, you would have thought that she was up to something. 

“Dare.” Every single time. He avoided truth like the plague. Kie and Sarah exchanged glances again before she turned back to look at JJ. 

“I dare you to do seven minutes of heaven with Y/N.” You shot her a warning look. The nerve of this bitch. You now figured out what these two were up to and they only smiled as you glared them both down. 

“Oh I’m down, but I’m not sure the princess is, even though I’m her favorite kisser.” Ugh. This man really knew how to grind your gears. He put you on the spot and you hated it. No way were you gonna back down. 

“Let’s go, you idiot.” You said as you stood up. You could tell by the look on his face that he wasn’t expecting you to agree. The crowd of people around you was going wild. JJ stood up and walked over to you with his hand out.

“Right this way my lady.” You slapped his hand away with disgust and headed inside the house. You made your way to JJ's room as he followed silently behind you. When you entered the room, you stopped to turn around after you heard him slam the door shut and lock it.

Did you know that you can reblog fics with tags in order to bookmark them?

Okay the replies on this post are kind of sending me to space, so I figured I needed to make a new post.

I know a lot of people are new to tumblr and might not know how to use tumblr properly, and it does just make me go ??? whenever I look on someone's account and they have 0 reblogs and just have a giant wall of fanfiction in their likes. Because I cannot imagine scrolling through endless fanfiction posts in my likes looking for one fic when organizing things with tags is so much better.

First of all, for new people - reposting and reblogging are two very different things. If a writer has "do not repost" as a disclaimer, they are not talking about reblogging.

Reposting is when you copy and paste someone's entire work, make a brand new post, and then post their work under the implication that it is your own.

Reblogging is a function that is built into the website (and app) that comes up in a creator's notifications, showing that you appreciate their work because you interacted with it. Reblogs always have links back to the original poster so people can find them and follow them.

So - when you hit the reblog button (the one next to the like button that is shaped like a recycling symbol) - you are giving the author credit and encouraging them.

Also, you can use tags on your reblog to organize fanfiction for your own use later!

You can tag by genre -> #smut #angst #hurt and comfort

You can tag by a character's name -> #Spencer Reid #Emily Prentiss #Jennifer Jareau

You can tag by a pairing -> #Spencer Reid x Reader #Emily Prentiss x Reader

If you read fanfic from a lot of different fandoms, you can even structure your tags to include multiple elements -> #Spencer Reid x Reader Smut

A lot of people even reblog fanfics and tag them as #TBR or #to be read - in order to bookmark a fic that they are interested in and want to come back to later.

And you can edit the tags on posts you have reblogged at any time, so if you want to edit something that you have already read and update the tags, you can do that.

I think it's a shame that people aren't taking advantage of this websites very useful features (while supporting fanfic writers at the same time). You don't need to keep links to Tumblr fanfiction somewhere else in order to organize them - if you use Tumblr right, you can keep everything organized within Tumblr and it works perfectly.
