Thank you!!

I know so much of the pre-election messaging is like VOTE!!! VOTE!!! IF YOU DON’T VOTE YOU’RE A MONSTER!! and that can get tiring after so many elections. So I want to take a moment after this election to say: so many of you clearly did get out and vote, despite not always having the most inspiring options, and with SO much on the line 18-29 year olds specifically helped win some of the most important and impactful races across America. So from one of the many “just vote” scolds on the internet: thank you!!

Also, Vote Your Whole Ballot in every election! The president has a huge impact on the country, but so does Congress. Your senators and representatives can support or block a president and influence the long-term effects of the president's actions. And as @neolithicsheep shows, your governor and state legislature can make a big difference on your life.

Your city's mayor, council, and other administrators have a narrower impact, but it can literally hit you where you live. Even school and library boards affect what children in your community are taught and whether books are banned. They are either elected or appointed by the mayor and/or city council.

Learn the dog whistles that hide people's agendas. Look at who is sharing advertising space. Check out the groups that support different candidates. And vote like your life depends on it, because it does for many of us.

If you haven’t read Tab’s Minority Monsters comics, I highly recommend them!  I’m about to succumb to the added temptation of the ace succubus charm and buy the print copy for myself.  (I’m pretty sure I can find someone who would like a charm if I win the giveaway, too.)

Looking For Some Queer Cheer This December?

Looking for some Queer Cheer this December?

I’ve got a Bisexual Unicorn and an Asexual Succubus looking for a home this festive season! Like, comment or share this post on Facebook, Tumblr or Twitter to enter a prize draw on the 25th and either of these could be yours!

If you don’t want to take your chances then I’ve got 25 of these adorable squishy charms (12 Asexual Succubi and 13 Bisexual Unicorns) which I’ll be giving away with every copy of the Minority Monster book bought this December (tinyurl.com/minoritymonsterbook). First come first served, just pick your monster in the drop down menu!

Perfect for hanging on a tree, keeping you company in the cold or being used as a stress ball for difficult family dinners.

Rules

-Each like, comment, share or retweet counts as an entry, multiple entries are fine. -First winner gets their pick of the two monsters, second winner gets the other one. -If you buy a book you can still enter the prize draw

Friendship to the max!  Lumberjanes is awesome, and I desperately hope that the show does it justice.

The comics are fun and silly and teach a lot about friendship and being yourself without getting preachy.  While the core group of friends have a lot in common, they each have distinct personalities, interests, and abilities.  They also support one another, even where their interests don’t overlap.

Plus, instead of cursing, they swear on the names of historical women.  “Holy Ida B. Wells!”  “What the Sally Ride?”

If you’re truly “pro-life,” support affordable health care (including contraception) and safe food, water, and shelter for everyone.  Prioritizing a collection of cells over an actual person is not about life, it’s about control.

This is a pro-choice blog.

It’s an I wanted this baby but at my anatomy scan I found out my baby will die after it’s born blog.

It’s an I’m not financially, mentally or emotionally stable enough to bring a child into this world blog.

It’s an I can’t live with the result of my sexual assault blog.

It’s an I miscarried but the fetus will not evacuate on its own blog.

It’s an I will die if I carry this to term blog.

It’s an I don’t want to be fucking pregnant blog.

It’s a pro-choice blog.

If you see this decision as a win, educate yourself. People with uteruses WILL die. And if that’s okay with you, don’t claim you’re pro-life.

Oh, and a big, fat FUCK YOU.

Squee!  I love Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate series, and I’m looking forward to her new M/M romances in a modern setting.  I made the mistake of reading the prequel short story before I realized that The Sumage Solution hadn’t been released yet.

This Regime Wants To Exert Even More Control Over The News And Information That The Public Receives –

This regime wants to exert even more control over the news and information that the public receives – or doesn’t even receive at all. That's why it is attacking publicly funded media like NPR and PBS. But it's also part of a ploy to gut vital public services and oversight in order to clear the way for more tax cuts (and subsidies) that will predominantly go to the super-rich and powerful corporations. Know the truth. (Art work by @doodlebymeg)

Canada Geese Are Weird.  On The One Hand, They’ll Stand Up To Huge, Scary Animals.  On The Other

Canada geese are weird.  On the one hand, they’ll stand up to huge, scary animals.  On the other hand, I’ve seen a whole flock take off when a single small dog runs at them.

This is the Goose of Outrageous Self Assuredness.  Take from her example, her ludicrous and excellent poise in the face of bullying, and be confident in your place, your course, your equal validity.
