I was well over 20 when I *started* reading fan fiction. One of my best friends finally convinced me to try it, and I’ve been addicted ever since. I’ve been active in science-fiction/fantasy/gaming/furry and various other fandoms for decades. I have seen everyone from infants to senior citizens having fun at conventions. The idea that fandom could have a use-by date or age range is laughable.
I’m curious!
I found this at Goodwill. It’s a little gaudier than I usually like, but I couldn’t resist. Now that I have it set up, I love it! (It’s rather difficult to take a picture of a lamp in place. I mean, it’s there because I want light there, but turning on the lamp itself put in way too much glare.)
If you’re in Wisconsin, go to https://myvote.wi.gov/ to find out if you’re registered, make sure you know where to vote, and see the ballot in advance so you can decide who/what you’re voting for before you go to the polls. Go to https://www.bringitwisconsin.com/ for information about the required ID to vote. Whether you approve of the requirement or not, make sure you have what you need to vote!
You can also request an absentee ballot if you don’t know whether you will have time or spoons to vote on November 6. “Under Wisconsin law, voters do not need a reason or excuse, such as being out of town on Election Day, to vote absentee. Any voter who prefers to vote by absentee ballot may request one.” (https://elections.wi.gov/voters/absentee) Even if Tuesdays are your day off and you want to spend them at home in your pajamas, you can get an absentee ballot and vote!
REPOST @TinySnekComics - you know what’s cool? VOTING THIS NOVEMBER!!! if you retweet anything today, make it is!!
If you’re truly “pro-life,” support affordable health care (including contraception) and safe food, water, and shelter for everyone. Prioritizing a collection of cells over an actual person is not about life, it’s about control.
This is a pro-choice blog.
It’s an I wanted this baby but at my anatomy scan I found out my baby will die after it’s born blog.
It’s an I’m not financially, mentally or emotionally stable enough to bring a child into this world blog.
It’s an I can’t live with the result of my sexual assault blog.
It’s an I miscarried but the fetus will not evacuate on its own blog.
It’s an I will die if I carry this to term blog.
It’s an I don’t want to be fucking pregnant blog.
It’s a pro-choice blog.
If you see this decision as a win, educate yourself. People with uteruses WILL die. And if that’s okay with you, don’t claim you’re pro-life.
Oh, and a big, fat FUCK YOU.
The one and only time I used a voting machine (I don’t remember what brand), it didn’t actually display the votes it registered so that I could confirm them. I think the instructions said that you should be able to see your vote, but that area was blank. Ever since then, I’ve stuck with the paper forms -- at least that way I know that there was a physical record of my vote at some point, and I can confirm that the right spots are marked before I submit the ballot.
Hey there US friends! If you’re voting using these machines (Hart eSlate) or similar ones right now or in the near future, make sure that the machine has NOT changed your ballot before casting it, ‘k? It’s apparently an already known problem, and has been for years, but has never been fixed.

I would probably give a book with an ace main character a try, just because it’s hard to find books with ace characters. I would keep reading a series or read more by the same author if the book was in a genre/style that I otherwise enjoy and was well written.
Someone said no one would ever read my book because there’s no love triangle. Prove them wrong?
It’s horrible that this is necessary, but I’m glad there are people who do it.
Three cheers for these guys [x]
Election day in the US is less than 2 months away. If you are legally allowed to vote, start planning! Make sure you are registered. Look into whether you qualify for an absentee ballot, so you have more time to research the candidates and issues. If you will need help turning in your ballot or getting to the polls, figure out what you need and who you can ask.
Even if you feel like none of the candidates are good, vote for the person who will do the least harm. (Hint: it’s not a Republican.)
The system is rigged. The advantages for the wealthy are immediate and endless.
I found a Maleficent lunch box with dragons on it in an after-Halloween sale several/many years ago. I happily took my lunch to work in it until it was literally falling apart. Some of my co-workers complimented me on it over the years, and some probably snickered at it (although no one ever gave me a hard time about it). Why give up the things that give you joy just because you’re supposed to be “too old” for them??
•buy toys/dolls/crayons •play with Legos •play old videogames/dress up games •weave friendship bracelets •watch cartoons •use stickers •draw pics of your favorite characters
If it makes you feel nice, do it. Don’t even worry about what other people think, because it doesn’t matter–if it brings you happiness, it’s not “ridiculous”, or “immature”.
You deserve to enjoy yourself.
