shanah tovah, y'all
Being awake during the middle of the night is a great excuse to practice my Hebrew, right?
Anyways, guess what I’m doing at 4am
the L and K should not be so close on the keyboard the amount of times I've accidentally typed a very antisemitic slur while trying to type "like" is absurd. the only thing saving me from this is autocorrect and that feels like a flimsy barrier at best
Happy Hannukah, y'all! I helped light the Menorah! 🐰🕯
i’m at a party right now and i heard someone on a walkie talkie and i turned around and it’s a mom who left her kids home on their own for the first time ever (they’re old enough) and they live a few houses down so she gave them a walkie talkie to call her if they get nervous. they just walkietalkied her for permission to eat ice cream
I was just thinking about the term "two Jews three opinions" (as I frequently do, I love that phrase).
There is frequent division and debate within our community. We are by no means homogeneous in our views, but we still hurt and cry and care for each other.
And that's just so beautiful and amazing.
Our views expand far beyond the binary of black and white, unlike the frosting on a halfmoon cookie!
So enjoy this little doodle appreciating our diversity of views, hopefully it brings a little joy into your day.
I’ve been seeing a lot of people talking about accepting Orthodox Jews recently. And while I’m very happy that we’re getting some positive attention for once. I’ve noticed a lot of peoples arguments for why Orthodox (they really mean modern orthodox) Jews are cool is that they’re “not like ultra-orthodox Jews”. So here’s your reminder that if you don’t accept Jews you consider “too orthodox” then you don’t accept Orthodox Jews period.
Internalized antisemitism isn’t a cute look babes.
Thinking about this part of the JVP Tisha B’Av guide:
Literally it says
“This is what the day is about”
And then openly admits that it is purposely removing this meaning from the day leaving… what? Some bullshit shell of Judaism and Jewish identity.
But it’s honestly really telling because this is what they want us to do. They want us to give up our identity “for the Liberation of Palestine” and they think this is a perfectly acceptable request and they point to antizionist Jews and say “see! They’ve made themselves acceptable to us! Why can’t you?”
And don’t get me wrong, I am 100% in support of the liberation of Palestinians from Israeli oppression. At the same time, it is always unacceptable to ask people to alter or give up their cultural identity for any reason, especially at the threat of verbal abuse and violence
