I found this gif and had to add audio to it
Thinking about this part of the JVP Tisha B’Av guide:
Literally it says
“This is what the day is about”
And then openly admits that it is purposely removing this meaning from the day leaving… what? Some bullshit shell of Judaism and Jewish identity.
But it’s honestly really telling because this is what they want us to do. They want us to give up our identity “for the Liberation of Palestine” and they think this is a perfectly acceptable request and they point to antizionist Jews and say “see! They’ve made themselves acceptable to us! Why can’t you?”
And don’t get me wrong, I am 100% in support of the liberation of Palestinians from Israeli oppression. At the same time, it is always unacceptable to ask people to alter or give up their cultural identity for any reason, especially at the threat of verbal abuse and violence
y'all aren't ready for 'maybe you shouldn't be an asshole to christians for being christian' and 'you should be respectful of christian's beliefs even if they differ from yours'
Diaspora Jews today:
I don't know how to explain the feeling of hearing the shofar, something my ancestors heard millenia ago and a tradition which has persevered despite uncountable attempts to end us. I hear the sound in my bones. This is our tradition and we will never let it go
Words cannot express how much I hate the people that run JVP.
There is no universe in which calling to “reject the ADL” is anything other than horrifically antisemitic.
“I don’t hate Jews, I just hate Israelis!” I don’t know how to tell you this. But hating someone because of their nationality or national origin is still a textbook form of bigotry…
reminder that disinformation is bad even when it furthers your narrative. if an organization is bad, you don't have to make up lies about it being bad. it's already bad literally just utilize the facts that are available to you
do you ever just sit in the Sukkah and stare at the stars and think “Wow, this is what my ancestors did?” do you ever say a prayer and think about the generations before who said the same words that have just left your lips? do you ever shake the Lulav and Etrog and think about how even when the Etrog dries up and the leaves on the Lulav fall off of their stem, there will be new ones year after year after year?
because I just did. our religion is ancient and our religion is not going away. goyim will not erase us and antisemites will not disgrace us.
we are here. we will always be here.
