Trans right grot,
Some tips for hobbying while being cheap and neurodivergent:
If you, like me, pick up cool rocks and want to show them off and have cool terrain at the same time: glue them into cool piles on a piece of cardboard to make landmarks. People have been stacking large rocks in piles for millennia to mark trails and denote distances. And now everyone can see your cool rocks on the tabletop!
Do you ever worry about mixing up too much Green Stuff or Milliput? Have a leftover epoxy putty project. Don’t rush it, it’s just where you put all the leftover stuff. It doesn’t look like much now, but one day I’ll have a four armed, two headed Chaos Giant because I keep mixing up a little too much putty!
Do you ever want to do make statues for your terrain, but you don’t want to sacrifice a whole mini to make one? Glue extra horns and weapons onto Knights and Warriors style army men from the dollar stores! You’ll have some convincing statues after just a prime and a dry brush or two!
A Fimir shaman that rolled particularly well on the old Realm of Chaos mutation charts!
I’ve been properly basing all of my orcs and goblins and some of these paint jobs were done myself as a teenager or in my mid twenties.
Sometimes you need to let the teenage you be part of the you of today that has the big green army like in the warhammer armies books that he always wanted back then. Proudly rank up his paint jobs alongside the minis painted after 20 years more experience.
Include yourself in yourself.
I have used contrast paint for once in my life and it's alright. Next time I'll do gray tones first, make some shadows.
Maybe I can mimic tie-dye with these things.
I was rewatching the Ralph Bakshi Lord of the Rings cartoon movie for the first time in many years and I forgot how Stoney Baloney this movie was! I realize that they basically ran out of money and had to use all the rotoscope footage they had which is why the story moves along so jarringly quick. There’s a whole 12 minute chase scene where it’s basically horse dressage while Frodo tries to get away. But this is it! This is how I fell in love with orcs! I saw these guys in this and the Hobbit cartoon and it rocked my world. Who were these fanged and tusked guys and where can I find more!? Luckily it was the early-ish 1990’s and I would soon be provided so much to work with as Magic the Gathering, Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, and my discovery of Warhammer Fantasy Battles would happen soon in quick succession not to mention that these movies would be remade by Peter Jackson as the new millennium rolled in. What a movie! What a legacy! What an impact on my life!
I painted this Chaos Daemon for a painting contest on Discord. I was inspired by the level transitions from the old Altered Beast Sega game.
Listen, I’ll post miniatures later. This has been my day so far and I’m not over it.
Our end times are unglamorous. I thought there was going to be horses. I’m pretty sure I was promised guys on horses.
The Rogue Idol of Gork and Mork!! This one is so much fun to paint! It’s got all these embossed details because it’s supposed to be like a cave painting come to life, but it’s taken the cave with it.
And there they are, all five of my big Orcs and Goblins Forge World units. I have the smaller night goblin and orc warboss kits as well. I’ve show those if you go back and look at my blog!
I’m glad I have all of them properly based now!
