āMiss (Y/N).ā
The stern voice of your nurse snapped you out of your daze. Your fingers pushed the scrapbook in your hands to a close with a small āthumpā, your weak (E/C) irises met her brown ones. Despite her previous tone of voice, Nurse Kim seemed to soften her gaze on you as she placed a glass of water on your bed stand. You could hear the sound of her pouring your dose of pills for today too; it was a noise that you despised because it served as a reminder of your present. Not just that, but the hospital gown on your figure and the ticking of the clock⦠all of them. But, there was only one thing that could bring you solace.
āIs Jake here yet?ā The sentence almost felt like a routine to you, the excitement in your voice didnāt do a good job at hiding itself. Nurse Kim mustāve thought the same as she chuckled. āIām sure he will arrive soon enough.ā
The presence of your lover by your side was the only thing that kept you going. Would it be an understatement to say that he was the sun to your world? He wouldāve laughed at you if you ever told him that. But truly, you werenāt exaggerating.
Jake was there for you at the night of your schoolās prom. He was there when you snuck out of your bedroom to go out with him at night. He was there when you lost consciousness for the first time in class. He was there when the doctor told the both of you about your brain cancer, a terminal illness. He was there when you realized you had little to no time left to live. He was there when you cried and cursed out your fate. There were more ā yet, your constant headaches always prevented you from recalling everything ā but you knew one thing. It was the fact that Jake had always been there for you.
āPlease remember to take your medicine, Miss (Y/N).ā Nurse Kim sent a last reminder to you before bidding you goodbye, not wanting to disturb your private visit with your boyfriend. You nodded with a hum, yet the glass of water and pills were left abandoned on the stand. Fingers eagerly tapping on your bed at the same pace as the singular clock ticking on the wall of your room, all you wanted right now was to see Jake. You wondered where was he right now? What did he do today? How was Layla? Gosh⦠you were just so in love with him, werenāt you?
And that was why it hurt the most when slowly, you began to realize that something was off.

[4:56 PM] -Ā Florist!Kun smiled to himself as he waited for you and your daughter to arrive at his shop. For the last year, you had visited Florist!Kunās flower shop every Sunday to buy flowers for your mother, who had sadly been hospitalized due to her health.Ā
Florist!Kun admired your strength. He knew it must not have been easy as a single mother of an eight-year old while juggling two jobs to cover your motherās hospital bills. Being a longtime friend, Florist!Kun tried to help out where he could, sometimes babysitting your daughter so you could run to do some errands.Ā
āSorry, Iām lateā You struggled to close your umbrella, the rain soaking your hair. You let go of your daughterās hand, letting her run for shelter inside the store.Ā
āKun!ā Your daughter beamed as she climbed the small foot chair thatĀ Florist!KunĀ had set up so your daughter could see over the counter.
āArenāt you prettier than ever,āĀ Florist!KunĀ adoringly rubbed your daughterās hair. He gave you just as an endearing look, āHow are you doing today?āĀ
You tiredly smiled, unloading the details of the hectic week you had, had.Ā Florist!KunĀ gave you a sympathetic nod.Ā
āHow about after you visit with your mother? I pick you up, and we can all grab some dinner.āĀ Florist!KunĀ offered, noting how the rain had only worsened. He knew you didnāt have a car, and heād hate to see you and your daughter have to wait for the bus.Ā
āYouāre an absolute angel,ā
You were appreciative of how attentive and understandingĀ Florist!KunĀ had been over the past year. Sure, two of you had always been friends, but something of late had changed between you both.Ā
You didnāt know what was in store for you both, but you liked to think that it was a welcomed change.Ā
āHere,ā Florist!Kun forwarded a bouquet of flowers to your daughter. She clasped them in her tiny arms, thanking him.Ā
āSee you later Kun,ā She said in the cutest of voices.Ā
āCall me when youād like me to pick you up,āĀ
You smiled, āI will,āĀ
