my gender is funky, like I don't feel like there was really anything there when I was born (gender wise), but because I'm also physically not a human, my gender is like a man who doesn't know what a man is and is really trying but is still confused, just trying to fit in but sometimes I find things that make me feel really good about being a man
that's basically what manhood is to me

sometimes just existing as an animal is enough. I don't have to explain myself, or do super fancy things, or buy super expensive gear, just being an animal is enough.

Honestly I know I say this a-lot, but one of my biggest “huh’s” in the therian community has always been people assuming that, due to certain species in of itself being common amongst the community, that must essentially mean that we’re all under the same wavelength. I find it hard to connect to the generalized assumption that all canine therianthropes can relate to eachother, because that’d assume that something like I, a Yorkshire Terrier, is on the same exact mind-to-mind thinking with a Gray Wolf - (Which to preface I am not, I find our generalized experiences remarkably different). I know people are typically only thinking this way because they kinda just immediately boil down things like “dog therian” to things like “big dog that’s either common or easy to compare to an animal like a wolf”, such as kinda operating under the assumption that dog therians are usually something like a Golden Retriever, St. Bernard, Wolfdog hybrid, etc etc. Which I do understand by the way, a-lot of us in the community are these animals/breeds and a-lot of us in the community relate closely to the concept of typically intersectional things like dogness & wolfness… But when you are merely only understanding of that assumption, that theres “canine therians” who have it “easier” because they can always find “canine media” or “canine resources” (which I do mention because this all usually comes from the assumption that we all get eachother)…. I sort-of lose track (“sort-of” as in almost always admittedly). Because again - I am a Yorkshire Terrier.. You wouldn’t relate me to a Dhole or a Wolf, because to most that’s too heavy of a distinction to relate so closely - except that’s essentially what’s happening here. I’m not trying to blame this wording in of itself as a whole, not at all, but I do think it’s important to sorta see what you’re implying when you make assumptions along the lines of, again, things like canines therians being able to find information and general resources easily because we’re all canines.
Also to put it in perspective, it’s like…. Yeah - we’re all canines, but just…
(Scandinavian Grey Wolf. Portuguese Podengo. Short-Eared Dog. Dhole.)
We’re also all diverse? And I feel apart of giving us canines a little more of a respective tone is simply understanding that diversity, which also can translate similarly to other general terminology: like cat therians or fish therians.
