Have you guys read my Din Djarin fic Torment? Din is captured on Glavis and has to escape with a woman named Ellis (a very very vaguely described OC). It's a fast paced, survival story, written in a minimalist prose. It has the most kudos of any of my stuff on A03 but virtually no views here and I wonder if no one saw it because they had just implemented community labels and I made sure to give it one. Anyway, read it if you want something intense with a nice soft, angst filled ending. It's brutal and tender.

I feel like what happened with Lost is happening with The Mandalorian now.

The writers worked really hard on enough plot for a couple of seasons and really hooked people, but then they realized “holy 💩 people want more! quick, let’s throw together a bunch of random things and characters and completely undermine all the good stuff we had going in the previous seasons”.

Like, it sucked for fans of Lost and it’s sucks now. What has even been the literal point of this season? To put your two bread winner characters on the back burner? To make Din seem like an incompetent bozo who plays Bo’s lapdog and always needs rescuing?

The point definitely hasn’t been more character development for Din. On expanding Din and Grogu’s relationship. On Din learning to wield the dark saber. On Din learning (and loving) to be a leader. On Grogu getting to hone in on his Jedi skills.

It’s not like I’ve completely hated it this season, there has been good points and it’s still an interesting show. But everything from the first two seasons is missing it seems. And so much potential in what could have been great character development has been put on the sidelines.

Hopefully they can still save it. I have hopes, but I’m skeptical.

My new meds make my skin throw a fit. It’s not terribly bad, just a few things here and there, but it’s bumming me out because I’ve never really had too many run-ins with acne.

My four-year-old sister, however, is under the impression that it’s just “3D freckles”, and that they look very, very pretty. She wants all of my freckles to “pop out”, especially the ones across my nose; they’re her favourite.

And it puts me in this weird position where I can’t say, “No, this is acne, and it’s bad,” because I don’t want to teach her that it’s a bad to have unclear skin, you know?

Because the more I think about interactions I have with children, the more I realise that children will consistently compliment “flaws” until they’ve been taught not to.

Like, a kid at the library, whose sister has vitiligo, saw my scars once and suggested that his sister and I should be cats for Halloween, since I have “tabby skin” and she has “calico skin”. “I can be a black cat,” he immediately added. “It’s not AS cool, but they’re the spookiest.”

When I started losing weight, my little brother immediately demanded that I gain it back, because I wasn’t as comfortable to cuddle with anymore.

And my other little sister always wants to wear her paint-stained clothes to school so that “everyone can tell [she’s] an artist”.

I don’t know. I guess talking to little kids just reminds me that all of this superficial shit we worry about really is 100% made up.

Life Update + Fics

Hello, everyone! I am not dead! I am so sorry for the lack of responses in my inbox and fics, but I haven't had the energy to do a whole lot outside of work. August was not kind to me and I'm just starting to come out of recovery, but I want everyone to know that I will be participating in Kinktober along with dropping a fic by the weekend so please stay tuned! And thank you to those who have reblogged and commented on my posts and followed me!! I'll catch up in a few days, thank you for being patient with me!!

Long story short, in August:

I had a LOT of travel drama

my Airbnb hosts turned into absolute psychopaths trying to get me to pay for a lamp I didn't break on top of damaging their

kitchen when I didn't and it took 2 weeks to resolve this going back and forth with them to where I had to get Airbnb involved and had them blocked on there and I had to block their numbers as well from texting and calling me

my diseases started to flare up again to where I had to up my medication and I'm afraid they still aren't helping as much as I needed them to

all specialists in my area are booked at least 4 months out so I have to consider either finding help hours away or moving (which I want to do but I'm still saving up before I make that commitment)

my best friend who I have known since high school decided to end our friendship in a really traumatic way all because I put my foot down regarding one of my boundaries and she took that personally. Traumatic as in not only she blocked me on all platforms including Pinterest and Venmo, but she also got her husband, parents, sister, and a mutual friend to all block me instead of talking to me and ending our friendship on a note that we were both worthy of rather than whatever the fuck this was. Reminder: we're in our 30s. So this completely blindsided me on the last day of August while I was at work on break.

I feel like I'm missing something but that's the gist. I'm being vague but if anyone wants more details, just DM me and I can tell you what happened in more depth for clarity or I might just make a post about it later depending on how I'm feeling but yeah it's been a lot.
