Legends of Rock #04 - Ringo Starr
It's Fab Four week here on the blog! Kicking it off with the man behind the kit (sometimes the mic). So much has been written, argued, plum made up about The Beatles, I'll keep it short and say they're a pretty big band, and Ringo did well as the backbone.
(these will be available for purchase once the whole set is released on my shop)
Misspelled Characters: Captain Americat
New segment, folks, in which I imagine a world where careless writers pass along a minimally but catastrophically mistyped script to the artist who does his/her best to make the character function as intended. First up: Captain Americat. No shield pictured because it is being used as a milk saucer.
It’s October so we’re watching spookies. Here’s good ol’ Deputy Dewey from Scream 1.
Twiggy & Harry - log pals.
That Shape
Pardon the crude humor. But also, let the crude humor do its thing.
Bird 11: Yellow-rumped Warbler
This is a fun bird that you see pretty often. The "yellow-rumped warbler" category is often used to generally classify a group of four different warbler varieties, if you needed to know that. This is one of the cute ones. I have the Birds of Brooklyn poster nearly all laid out with type and everything. Should be rolling it out real soon.
The Fine Art of Design.
Did a magazine ad for a great vintage shop in Palm Springs. Was a fun project and allowed me to do more textural work which I’ve been getting into recently, and a touch of screentone which I’ve found hard to incorporate into my style but like the challenge a lot.
Phone Pixels
Remember those many months in which all I did was pixel art? I hardly remembered, but this week I re-engaged in a project that is exclusively pixel art. It’s an incredibly different kind of illustration. If you fight its natural blockish restrictions, it can feel like having ten thousand spoons when all you need, really, is a knife. But in this case, I figured out spoons were just right.
