Five Deadly Venoms
Pupil #2: The Snake from Chang Cheh’s (much more) story-driven martial arts film Five Deadly Venoms. One hand represents the snake’s head, the other the tail. Trying to keep the warmup game going.

Misspelled Characters: Captain Americat
New segment, folks, in which I imagine a world where careless writers pass along a minimally but catastrophically mistyped script to the artist who does his/her best to make the character function as intended. First up: Captain Americat. No shield pictured because it is being used as a milk saucer.
Another "Hey, Koo!" to add to the soon-to-be collection of haiku comics written by Kalia Armbruster and arted by me. Still settling into this line-art style with flat color. It's a great exercise and I'm having fun working within the restraints. More to come, ya'll.
April - Scott Pilgrim.
Continuing the 2015 calendar, this month is Sex Bob-omb playing a raucous gig. Think it turned out really well and was very happy with the screentone fade in the background. I tried out Manga Studio for the first time and really liked the drawing tools and the ability to minutely tune brushes. I’ll definitely be doing more illustration in Manga Studio, especially anything that needs variable line thickness (and dope screentones).
From the Hmph
I started recording some music again. Got a little album in mind with lots of guitar loops and lots of lyrics crammed into 2 minute and under songs. Tentative album title is Jacuzzi Juice. Alternate tentative title is Austin, The Man, Not the City. Here is one of the tiny tracks I recorded Sunday afternoon and a comic inspired by the tiny track!

Good good, Good bad, Bad bad: Buffy
I watched the 1992 Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie last night, and while I remembered it being good, I had not remembered how good. This is a fantastically funny, stylish vamp/90s high movie. Self-aware camp and super likeable vampire make-up makes this Good good. One of the finest scenes involves Paul Reubens getting stabbed with a ruler.
I had forgotten about my favorite pair of jeans, but I found them, in my pants drawer of all places. I will be wearing these a lot.
My first proper sculpt and paint. Seemed only fitting that it be Hellboy as that continues to be my most valued media for both art and storytelling. The white figure at the bottom was my actual first stab that melted in the oven which taught me the valuable lesson of creating a proper armature (and using clay that wasn’t many years old). More sculpts coming.
Original Beige Super Sculpey with acrylic paints applied with various brushes. Base is a piece of pine with medium-gauge wire for armature covered in aluminum foil to pad out bulky areas.
