The Guardian:
Aaron Rodgers, arguably the best player in the NFL, believes his fellow quarterback Colin Kaepernick deserves to be playing in the league and his continued absence is due to his protest over racial injustice in the US.
The former San Francisco 49ers player became a controversial figure last year after he refused to stand for the national anthem in what he called a protest against oppression of people of color. He opted out of his contract in March and became a free agent, but so far, no NFL teams have signed him for the upcoming season, which kicks off next week.
“I think [Kaepernick] should be on a roster right now,” Rodgers says in a wide ranging interview with ESPN published on Wednesday. “I think because of his protests, he’s not.”
In the interview, Rodgers said he would not join in the protests – which have continued into the current pre-season – but was “100% supportive” of players who chose to express their feelings. He added that the US needs to “remedy and improve” racial equality, and that he wanted to improve his understanding of the subject. “I think the best way I can say this is: I don’t understand what it’s like to be in that situation. What it is to be pulled over, or profiled, or any number of issues that have happened, that Colin was referencing — or any of my team-mates have talked to me about … But I know it’s a real thing my black team-mates have to deal with.”
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is 100% right on.
Hey queen. You seem v knowledgeable about pro-Palestinian charities. Would you mind making a post or giving some info on which ones are really effective and honest abt their work? I've been hearing some problematic things about UNRWA, and Save the Children seems to be doing very little (as far as I am informed). I donate to PCRF and MAP, but don't know any other, smaller orgs that may also need more awareness? Thanks ♥
hello, thanks for sending this in. so i've been trying to find smaller orgs for palestine that are specifically for helping gaza, but the issue is not much aid is being let in. PCRF is a really good org in my opinion, I'd always donate to them regardless.
There's also the Palestine Museum, which does really great cultural preservation work.
Palestine Legal is a legal aid group that helps palestinian and palestinian advocacy facing legal challenges.
Palestine Action is a direct action group that helps do disruptive protests.
Samidoun helps palestinian prisioners around the world and keeps and eye on them.
Within Our Lifetime is an NYC based palestinian led organization.
Palestinian Youth Movement is a favorite for Turtle Island led Palestinian resistance.
Palestine Feminist Collective is a Turtle Island feminist movement that works to spread culture and information.
Good Shephard Collective seems to be doing good work in Bethlehem as well.
I would mostly look for mutual aid groups for people from Gaza if you want to donate to them. Aya Ghanamah retweets mutual aid groups a lot.
I might share more groups in a second reblog after I hear back on best ways to help them.
As an Iranian girl, I want to tell you, Mahsa Amini's hijab was much more decent than my own everyday outfit. It might've been me, my mother, my sister, my friend or anyone.
Then they kill 100 more to prove they didn't kill 1? Where is the justice in that? Who can we go to when the police is the murderer?
As a feminist, as a human, send our voice across the world. We're fighting, and this time, we are not giving up!🇮🇷🕊
I am not the best at putting words together but I have to say this.
It’s painfully obvious when abled (esp abled-bodied) fans do not see a characters disability as an important part of them. Or treat characters disabilities as something that can be written of as “a different version of that character” so it “doesn’t have to be included”. Or even worse see it as a character flaw that must be cured.
You people treat it as something that can be ignored or a choice to include in stuff. It’s so tiring! Abled people don’t ACTUALLY listen to disabled peoples concerns and how important representation can be to us!

A bright spot from a friend in Philly:
The Proud Boys - a white supremacist group with a stupid name - planned a rally a block from my house today. The "belly of the beast" rally. Because apparently that's where I live - the belly of the antifa beast. Whatever the fuck that means.
2 hours before it was supposed to start, the park starts filling up with my neighbors. A drum line shows up. A brass band plays. The anarchists are giving away vegetables and nachos and some artists are selling jewelry. Black leaders give speeches. We chant Breonna Taylor's name. And all the other names.
No right-wing rally every coalesces. There was never room for a critical mass to congregate. A lost-looking man or two walks to the park, doesn't see their people, turns around. A right-wing vlogger trying to debate people is surrounded and walked to the edge of the park. Someone spotted with a handgun is chased through the park, to their car, by over 100 people. The ice cream truck music plays the whole time.
The usual guys sets their chess tables and start playing, the crowd of neighbors start to break up.
Nazis, we will replace you. We will displace you. We will louder and more numerous. We anti-fascists are full of music and love and nachos. We will always replace you.

Break a prop? Just put it back and walk away… ha ha!!
The International Skating Union and government of Stockholm are planning to host the World Figure Skating Championships with no bubble, close to no safety measures, and with kids as young as 15 attending without parents, who then would be quarantined in a foreign country without support if they get COVID-19.
The “safety measures” :
Arrival no later than 1- 2 days before the event starts. If participants want to quarantine before or after the event, they HAVE TO pay out of pocket.
Only 2 Covid tests administered.
A loophole if you happen have a positive PCR test .
Masks suggested not mandated
Only temperature checks after negative pcr tests
Symptoms self reported by athletes, there is no enforcement of this
The ISU has also not been forthcoming or clear with vital details- they say regular testing but have not given a schedule for testing and only detailed the first 2 tests
They have not given any information about if parents or family can accompany minors other than-no chaperones as part of the national team - nothing about if kids will have to be alone. This is because instead of increasing the measures like testing they cut down the number of people allowed (these details were also only given after fans petitioned)
Stockholm’s case count has also just doubled in 3 weeks, and their Crown Princess (Who’s supposed to be at the event) got infected
Sweden is also currently considered a high risk/incidence area by multiple countries- here’s Japan ( where 80% of figure skating’s money come from) and Germany’s classification (most flights to Stockholm also connect through Germany)
Covid-19s effect on athletes include but are not limited to- heart and lung damage, breathlessness, heart defects, asthma, here are just some accounts from figure skaters
Anastasia Shpilevya- Russian Ice dancer- has had to end her career due to covid complications
Evgenia medvedeva - 2x world champion, 2x olympic silver medalist - has lung damage
Daniel Grassl - 3x Italian national champion- now has a heart defect and lung damage
Many like Nathan Chen(2x world champ), Yuzuru Hanyu( 2x world champion 2x olympic chamiopn) and Jason Brown( Us national chmapion) have spoken about their concern for their own safety and the safety of their friends and fellow athletes.
Yuzuru has been raising his voice for moths now so you can check out his interviews at https://twitter.com/axelwithwings
These skaters have NO CHOICE but to go, most of the spots for the 2022 olympics are only available through this 1 competition. In speed skating, where the qualification is different, Korea, Japan, Britain and China pulled their teams out of the world championships (despite having 10x the safety precautions).
