The CP Holiday Train arrived in Hamilton tonight near Gage Park. As usual, huge crowds showed up to listen to the music (Sam Roberts) and see the festive train. This is the first time that events and conditions (and memory) all worked together for me to actually see the train. Went with a good friend who had difficulty seeing over the crowd even though she's reasonably tall. Cold and windy. A hot coffee afterwards was a very welcome way to warm up. After, I tracked the train to the yards in west Hamilton where it stayed for the night before continuing on to Cambridge tomorrow. The problem with many of the conventional solutions proposed is that they make the assumption people understand basic science, at least at a grade 9 or 10 level. Sadly most don't even have this level of knowledge, and more importantly, they lack the understanding and comprehension of what they have been taught. They may have their school grades, but they don't understand how it applies to the real world or how the scientific method works. Most don't even care about their ignorance. Some lightning shots I got this evening. Was supposed to be a fairly big storm so I set up my camera to try and image it. It nearly passed me by completely. I did manage to capture a few of the cloud-to-cloud lightning as it was receding. None struck the earth from my view. Took a lot of shots to get 3 moderately decent images.
