I love the way Takabayashi-sensei breaks the characters and theories. It just makes them even more awesome and original somehow. And more human (even though most are mazokus 😉).

Yuuram in Novel 11

So Yuuri and Wolfram are in completely separate places, but I want you to notice how in the scenes with other characters the ‘Dacascos and Adalbert’ scene, and ‘Anissina and Greta’, they all talk about Yuuri and Wolfram as partners, good match/ideal partners, etc. Then, there’s Yuuri who’s constantly thinking of Wolfram (especially when he’s not well)

He may look cute, but he has a shocking alcohol tolerance, and he doesn’t go crazy after he gets drunk either, could that be true? She wants to verify the validity of this rumor. Compared to that adopted father of hers, who strips stark naked, wears his underwear on his head and starts dancing madly whenever he drinks, she wonders, who’ll be more fun when they’re drunk?

In the bet for His Majesty’s affections, His Excellency Wolfram is rather popular too. But that’s unsurprising, since they’re such a good match! Aiya, like that time when the two of them were hiding together in the fruit carton, I thought they were some foreign dolls and couldn’t look away! But I spent three month’s worth of salary to bet on His Excellency Günter—I’ll just take it as my congratulatory present for them.”

The little girl asks, her voice nasally as she holds back tears.

After releasing her childhood friend’s hand, Anissina smile brightly at Greta,

“Maybe? But maybe not. Wolfram may be the Little Prince, but he might not be a king. However that doesn’t have to be an unlucky thing, Greta. Even if he can’t win on his own, if he has the most ideal partner, and he’s standing by his side, they can bring out a power that’s stronger than his innate strength.”

“I’m guessing it might because I’m too wound up. Rather than call it gastric pains… it’s more like I ate too much and feel tight in my chest.”

“Could it be a cold? Maybe you were too worn out that time when we were drifting on the sea.”

And sometimes I get headaches and horrible chills too, very evidently the pre-symptoms of a cold.

(…) And I deduce that this sense of discomfort isn’t a cold, but due to pressure.

I’ve been in a series of emergency situations since Small Shimaron, and I didn’t have any friends during the trip. Josak is definitely a comrade I can rely on, and is a trustworthy guard, but that’s different from the sense of safety Wolfram gives me. Because we can’t banter with each other, and comfort each other.

(analysis ) Healing, maryoku and longevity

I’m back at trying to figure out things in maruma. 

Canon

1) In novel 1, Gunter said that mazoku owe their longevity to the healing hands tribe. The tribe has been in Shin makoku for 2000 years, and they got there because humans persecuted them and drove them out. 2) In further novels we learn that: 1) mazoku get sick if there are houryoku stones around, and that they can’t use their majutsu if they don’t have elements to control. - Majutsu (ma skills) then, seems to be the power of controlling MA elements with your maryoku (ma power). How well you can do it connects solely to the “quality” of your soul, but it still needs training. Something like: you have a max cap in your ability, but you need training to reach that max. (Julia talks about training for decades in “Falling in love”). - Healing powers are not well explained. ————————————————————————————————-

Analysis

First question: Is healing for mazoku connected to maryoku?

We can infer that ‘Yes, it is’… because Adalbert uses houjutsu to heal Yuuri, and it feels different and stings and such… so, it’s fair to say that the same applies to mazoku and that they use their majutsu for healing.

But here’s the thing: the green tribe didn’t have maryoku before reaching Shin Makoku. 

Second question: Is healing majutsu the same as ‘healing hand tribe’ power?

And here the answer is YES. I just went through the canon and realized it’s actually IN THERE!  Novel 10, chapter 6

(Gisela) “The closer we get to Seisakoku, the stronger the discomfort, and it’s possible that majutsu can’t be used either, naturally the same goes for the abilities of the ‘healing hand tribe’ . But Your Excellency, I just hope you will understand this. Healing was never just majutsu. The true essence of healing is the healer’s heart, a kind heart is a necessity, and the most important thing is the modesty of wanting to heal the wounded.”

But then HOW could they use it before getting to Shin Makoku?????

Third question: Can the healing hand tribe use their abilities in human territory?

One might infer YES, because they came from human territory because their long life and healing abilities were scaring the humans, so yes? So here’s the real question… why didn’t Gisela save Julia. I mean… she was right there. Julia had time to ask her to burn her body so… yo Gisela what’s up with that?

Fourth question: If the healing hand tribe are to be thank for mazoku’s long life, and their abilities are not maryoku-related, can we infer it’s simply them healing mazoku that made them live longer?

I would say Yes. What other reason would there be? It would also explain why mazoku age differently. The more healing, the longer you live. The traits seem to also be passed down through generations. Otherwise there’d be mazoku who live the same as humans if they never needed healing.  (Such as earth mazoku who never got the healing)

So 2000 years of healing and passing down those traits has made most mazoku look 1/5th of their age when compared to human beings.

Fifth Question: What about the odd ones?

Cherie, Ulrike, Chevallier. How can Chevallier look younger than Cherie if he’s older than her and was also a maou? How can Ulrike have such a different aging!? As you may have notice they’re all related to Shinou, so he’s definitely doing something to them, but what precisely would be guessing.  Hope you enjoyed~!

This is literally happening to me right now!

That's so true. The Wolfram we see is like that because he is a guy. If he was a girl then I can't see why he would be allowed to even tag along Yuuri's adventures. I don't see how he would have a stamina of a soldier. I don't see how he would be comfortable with the travels while dressed in gowns. I don't even see him setting his foot out of the castle cause I'm pretty sure that if Celi had Wolf as a girl she would've made her follow her foot steps. So I cannot imagine YuuRam happening with Wolf being a girl cause it's plain wrong. Because we would be essentially removing the core of what makes Wolfram Wolfram. And the whole point of his presence as Yuuri's best friend and trusted companion whom he can count on.

English version of Kyou Kara Maou

Here, let me translate Kyou Kara Maou to English since apparently it’s so difficult to understand:

A guy travels to another world gets engaged to a former princess. The moment he sees her, he’s completely taken by her appearance. When they have to fight he tries to make her panties drop to win the match. He spends his inner monologues continuously talking about her eyes and beautiful skin and features. How she’s an angel. A wet angel when she jumps into water. He calls her cute. He loves how straightforward she is, how she always tells him the truth. He holds her hand while trapped in a cramped area. He tells her: Wait, wait! You don’t wanna have sex with a sweaty guy and gets in the shower, when she throws herself at him. THEY START SLEEPING TOGETHER. No explanation , just boom, princess decides to sleep with the guy. You start reading about it 3 months after the guy decides to not lock his door and let the princess sleep with him every night. Guy adopts a child, child calls princess mommy. Child is not allowed to sleep with her parents. Princess saves guy’s ass continuously. Guy curves all other girls (and guys, but who cares about that, right?). He takes princess out on adventures, where they always sleep together. Other people also comment, oh I see you sleep together on trips, too? Princess almost dies, causing guy to react in a way he never has before, even though many characters have ‘died’ around him before. The trauma hunts guy forever. When he accidentally hurts her, he feels like literal shit. And crawls around princess trying to cure her, asking her if she hates him. Princess replies of course not, I came to the ends of the world for you. Guys friend dies, he gets into a fight with best friend and is exhausted, finally begging to get in bed with princess, saying to her: I’m so glad I have you. I don’t have the strength to pretend anymore. Cut to black. Guy and princess fight like a married couple. Guy asks princess if she wants a divorce. Guy tells princess he’ll give her anything she wants. Guy, writes 26 things he likes the most about princess in front of her while she does the same. Guy asks princess if she’d cry if he wasn’t there.

Now let me ask you…. do you still need the guy to confess his love for the girl? Do you wonder if the guy likes the princess? 

Okay, well in the Japanese version the princess is a prince.
