Rhodey & Bucky + things they have in common
You did good Chris.
You gave an entire generation a shining star in Steve Rogers. Not only in strength, but in courage. In valor. In getting back up every time you fall, in fighting for what’s right even if everyone is against you. In being kind, being selfless, being determined, being loyal.
It was never about the super speed, strength, and shield for me.
Steve is hope, inspiration, a friend during the darkest of times, a beacon of light when the world is against you. Steve is adjusting in a place you don’t feel like you belong, loving so fiercely you become almost reckless, sorrow so painful it makes you ache, smiling despite it all and holding yourself tall.
Thank you Chris for taking on this role even when it terrified you. Thank you for embodying this character, for not only portraying his ideals, thoughts, and behaviors so perfectly, but for adopting them and working towards being a better man.
I’ll always believe we deserve a more Steve central cap 3. Maybe one day we’ll get that.
But for now, I just wanted to say, Captain America won’t disappear even if Chris is done playing Cap. Even if someone reprises the role, there’s only ever going to be one Cap. Chris is an iconic Steve Rogers. Even if A4 is the last time we see him on screen, he has a place in our hearts that ensures his legacy, his love, his story will always be there.
That little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb and too brave not to run away from a fight, I’ll follow him forever.
Thank you Chris Evans for being our Captain. Thank you for bringing Steve Rogers to life.
New Interview: #HayleyAtwell at Baltimore Comic Con 2016
ABC2: Were you a comic book fan growing up?
Atwell: I had no idea what a comic book was until I was in late teens, and that was kind of helpful because it meant that I hadn’t put any added pressure on myself to try and live up to something. There wasn’t much about Peggy Carter that we discovered in the comics that I couldn’t create myself, and I felt that that was easier than having to live up to something that was so loved. You’re immediately at such a higher place to fall from if the world already has a preconception of what your character should be.
ABC2: There’s a group currently petitioning to have Agent Carter revived on ABC. How does it feel having such a strong fan base committed to your work?
Atwell: I set out to do work that I enjoy and that interests me, and then having a group of people who support that—even when you’re going in a different direction—they’re still saying, come join this body again. That’s really lovely. To think that Peggy’s taken off with people and that she’s someone lots of people relate to or want to see more of. I’m definitely a part of that gang.
ABC2: What does it mean for you to participate in comic book gatherings, and see your fans face-to-face?
Atwell: These conventions give me an opportunity to actually interact with the fans and see who’s been staring at me from the comfort of their own homes for so many years. Just to be able to hear the impact that the character and the show had in their lives, it’s really humbling and very moving. Especially young girls and boys who see Peggy as a force for good, and that inspires them. A lot of people have quotes of “I know my value, anyone else’s opinion doesn’t really matter,” that’s become her catchphrase, and seeing people with tattoos or pieces of jewelry with it engraved extends it far beyond just me as an actor turning up to do my job every day. This is a very humbling wake up to realizing that some people have really taken her into her hearts, and that’s a wonderful thing.
ABC2: What are you most looking forward to at Baltimore Comic-Con?
Atwell: I’d love to see some people dressed as Peggy Carter. There have been some men in the past at conventions dressed as Peggy Carter, and I’ve been very jealous because they look better in a skirt than I do. To see that she still lives in other people’s worlds, it makes me have hope that she might come back some day.
ABC2: Do you have a dream superpower?
Atwell: Yes. The ability to eat what I want without consequence.

A/N: Some angsty and kinda sad Bucky for you guys! Yet again inspired by the prompt in the title. Featuring an appearance from best friend!steve.
You’d seen Bucky lose control before. The Winter Soldier was a rare occurrence now, the trigger words no longer had any hold over Bucky, but sometimes, in his sleep, when his defences were down, something would happen.
You’d known Bucky’s nightmares were a problem before you’d started dating him. More often than not he’d wake in a sweat, crying about some mission, some innocent he’d hurt. But, occasionally, he’d wake up, his eyes glazed over, Bucky no longer at the forefront and in control.
It had happened a few times. You’d wake to see him just sitting there, staring coldly at nothing in particular. You’d move slowly, softly saying his name, reminding him of little moments you’d shared, stories he’d told you of him and Steve, and eventually you’d have your boyfriend back.
Tonight was different.
You’d woken suddenly to a sharp pain in your ribs. You’d assumed it was simply Bucky struggling in his sleep but next thing you felt was a weight on top of you. Your eyes snapped open as you felt metal close around your neck. You inhaled sharply while you still could.
“Bucky,” you whispered, as calmly as you could. “Buck, it’s me, it’s Y/N. Come back to me.”
When that didn’t seem to work, you forcefully pushed your body into him. In his moments confusion, you jammed your arm up towards his throat working a leg free and kicking him in the stomach before jumping out of bed and backing away from him.
“Bucky?” you asked hesitantly.
You got no response. The man before you simply stared down at his own hands. You edged closer.
“Bucky?”
“No,” he said flinching away from you.
“It’s ok, Bucky, everything’s ok.”
“No it’s not,” his breathing was laboured and he swatted your hand away as you reached out to him. “Don’t touch me.”
“Bucky-”
“No. I promised I’d never hurt you. I said this only worked as long as you were safe, and you’re not.”
“Bucky, stop it. I’m fine,” you tried to assure him. “This never happens, it was a one off, everything is ok.”
You tried reaching out again, hoping to get him back to bed, but he stood up forcefully.
“I could have killed you,” he murmured, his voice breaking as he fled from your room.
The moment he was gone, you broke down. The sobs shook your body as you curled up in a ball on the floor by your bed. The shock of what happened caught up to you as the aching in your ribs suddenly throbbed. You couldn’t get that horrified look on Bucky’s face when he realised what had happened out of you head.
Steve suddenly appeared at your door, probably alerted by the banging of the door, given the force Bucky threw it open with.
“Y/N?” he called rushing to your side. “What happened? Are you ok?”
You sniffed and looked up at him. You saw his eyes widen as he brought his fingertips up to brush your neck.
“That wasn't…” he trailed off, looking at the bruising in horror.
“It was the nightmares again,” you got out between sobs. “It’s never been that bad. And now I don’t know where he is, but he probably won’t come back.”
“Who is he?”
“Bucky. He’s Bucky again. He realised what had happened and ran.”
You broke down again. Steve pulled you into his chest as you tried to calm yourself again.
“I don’t know what to do,” your voice small behind the sobs.
“You still love him?”
“Of course. That wasn’t him. Bucky would never knowingly hurt me.”
“When you love someone, it’s worth fighting for. No matter the odds,” Steve encouraged you.
“Help me find him, and we’ll see if we can’t get him help. We stopped the trigger, we’ll stop this too.”
You dried your eyes, sniffed a few times and looked up at Steve with new determination. “Let’s find him.”

You hate doing this to him, calling him so late at night while you’re so upset, but you don’t know who else you’re supposed to call. The ringing stops after a few moments, but the only sound on the other side of the line is shuffling and a low grunt.
“P - Pete?” you ask uncertainly.
“Y/N?” he asks slowly. You can tell that you’ve woken him up. “What’s wrong?”
You wipe the stray tears from your cheeks, trying to gather yourself a little so you can explain why the hell you’ve called Peter at some god awful hour of the night.
“I um, I got in another fight with my dad… I’m sorry, I just didn’t know who else to call,” you say, voice wavering with each word.
“Where are you?” Peter asks, ignoring your apology - he doesn’t need it.
“Just around the corner from my house,” you tell him, glancing at the nearby street signs.
“Stay there,” he states. “I’m coming to get you.”
You sigh, beginning to argue, “Peter, you don’t have to -”
“I’m coming to get you,” he repeats, cutting you off. “Just stay safe until I’m there, okay?”
“Okay,” you whisper, knowing there’s no use in arguing with him.
He’d do anything for you, even when you call him in the middle of the night crying, especially then.
