"Bucky,” You told him, trying to get his attention.

“I’ll get you out of this!” Bucky yelled.

“No, you can’t.” You told him, but he didn’t look at you. “Bucky, go.”

“I can’t just leave you here!” Bucky argued.

“You have to. I’ll be fine, I promise.” You grabbed his arm.

“But…”

“Go to the quinjet. Get back to the facility. Don’t come back for me.” You told him.

As you and Bucky were running in the forest from Hydra agents, you fell into a trap- a hole in the ground. How did you even manage to fall for that? But alas, there was no way to get you out. At least, not with Bucky around.

“But, I can’t leave you.”

“Go.” You told him, “I’ll be okay.”

“Alright…” Bucky said, and slowly let go of your hand.

Bucky walked away. You knew that agents would be checking traps soon, and you came go with two solutions.

One) Let the agents get you and try to kill them all off and escape.

Two) Try to conjure up your, hidden, enhancement.

Something Else

So I said I was on a hiatus buuuut I had the UNREAL opportunity to see Civil War a week early and I’ve been waiting to write this idea since. I couldn’t resist so I broke hiatus bc I lack self-control…like c’mon Also I wrote all of it within an hour long study break so I apologize for any errors lol Title: Something Else Pairing: Peter Parker x Reader Summary: Being Tony’s child (bc Stark children are way too fun to write) and having to get Peter acclimated to Stark Tower after Tony recruits him. Word Count: 1,265 Warnings: food mention, CA:CW spoilers (not really but kinda)            "Y/N, I’m home!“ hollered Tony as you heard the door open.

You roll your eyes, knowing it’s just your dad wanting your attention. You were his only kid after all, and he wasn’t going to be disrespected by his own blood. He’d disown you in an instant.

And so, to please your tyrannical father, you turn the corner to greet him, only to be caught by a surprise.

"Who’s that?” you asked, pointing at the teenager standing next to your father. “Did you adopt him? Is he my brother now? I swear…”

"Yes, you’ve been dethroned as the Stark heir,“ your father sassed, rolling his eyes. “No, I did not adopt him. This is Peter Parker.”

Colors [Bucky Barnes x Reader]

Word count: 740

Warnings: Angst

Storyline: Imagine based on the song by Halsey ‘Colors’.

Request: Hey! Can I have a Bucky songfic for Colors by Halsey? Sorry, I know you’ve been getting a lot of songfics lately, but I feel like it’s going to be really cool. Love you, by the way!

Author’s note: I’ve been obsessed with this song for a while now but I actually didn’t know the real meaning behind the song, And apparently, this song is about The 1975′s frontman Matty Healy. It has a bittersweet meaning. I thought that the real meaning didn’t adapt to well to Bucky so I did my own thing. I don’t think the fic follows the song in a matter of meaning but I think it follows the rhythm of the song. I have to say it’s a weird fic so, bear with me.

Colors [Bucky Barnes X Reader]

Your little brother never tells you but he loves you so. You said your mother only smiled on her TV show. You’re only happy when your sorry head is filled with dope, I hope you make it to the day you’re 28 years old

I observed him as the nurses and Steve tried to calm him down. After the nightmare he had, Bucky had woken up without knowing who he really was and thinking that he was still the Winter Soldier, the monster who was controlled by HYDRA.

Steve tried to talk some sense into him but Bucky wasn’t listening. Even though he had never said it out loud, Steve loved Bucky was a brother. His actions made it clear and he thought that materialize those words wasn’t going to change anything. Perhaps he was right but a part of me liked to think that maybe, just maybe, if Steve said it out loud, Bucky would come back. I had tried and he didn’t come back. Maybe Steve was the one who could bring him back.

One of the nurse managed to put a tract on his arm and, seconds later, Bucky collapsed on bed, completely drugged and, finally, in peace.

You’re dripping like a saturated sunlight. You’re spilling like an overflowing sink. You’re ripped at every edge but you’re a masterpiece and now I’m tearing through the pages and the ink

Although Steve made me promise him I wouldn’t enter the room, as soon as he left, I went inside, walked towards the bed and took the human hand into mine. “Hello Bucky,” I murmured.

Bucky smiled but I knew he wasn’t smiling to me or for me. As much as it hurt me, Bucky was drugged. It was the only way we had to control him. We could also put him in a cryogenic state but Steve didn’t want and I was glad about it because I didn’t want it either. I loved that Bucky was there with us, even if he wasn’t really him.

Despite all of that, I still loved him. Maybe he wasn’t my Bucky, but he had the look of the man I had fallen in love with. And I knew that if someday he regained consciousness, he would regret everything he had done while being controlled by HYDRA.

Everything is blue, his pills, his hands, his jeans and now I’m covered in the colors pulled apart at the seams. And it’s blue

I knew I was dreaming as soon as I saw Bucky appear in that music festival. But I didn’t care, it was the only moment I could be happy with him. I welcomed him with one of my best smiles and soon his arms were wrapped around my body and swayed me to the beat of music.

I lifted my head to look at him and I smiled when I saw his blue eyes staring at me with the intensity that characterized him. I raised one of my hands and I placed it on his face. I caressed it with tenderness and soon, his hands cupped my face and he kissed me. He kissed at me as if was going to be our last kiss. With passion, lust, despair.

Everything is grey, his hair, his smoke, his dreams and now he’s so devoid of color he don’t know what it means

Suddenly, his lips stopped moving and he dropped his hands. His eyes looked at me as if I was a complete stranger.

“No, not again,” I said in a gasp. “Bucky, it’s me. Y/N.”

You were a vision in the morning when the lights came through. I know I’ve only feel religion when I’m lying with you. You said you’ll never be forgiven ‘til your boys are too and I’m still waking every morning but it’s not with you

My eyes opened when I heard a loud noise. I got up of bed and I left my bedroom, founding a trail of bodies. “Bucky,” I mumbled as I started to run. I run. I run as much as I could before it was too late.

I bumped against his chest but before I could fall, he grabbed me by the arm.

You touched me and suddenly I was a lilac sky and you decided purple just wasn’t for you

His eyes looked at me and I wanted him to recognize me. But he pushed me away and kept walking.

“You’re Dating Peter Parker? How Long? Y/f/n We’ve Talked About You Dating And-” A Loud Sigh
“You’re Dating Peter Parker? How Long? Y/f/n We’ve Talked About You Dating And-” A Loud Sigh
“You’re Dating Peter Parker? How Long? Y/f/n We’ve Talked About You Dating And-” A Loud Sigh
“You’re Dating Peter Parker? How Long? Y/f/n We’ve Talked About You Dating And-” A Loud Sigh

“You’re dating Peter Parker? How long? Y/f/n we’ve talked about you dating and-” A loud sigh escaped from your lips as your father, Steve Rogers, was preparing for a mile long speech that you weren’t at all in the mood to hear.

Only minutes before your dad had sat you down at the kitchen table, you were wrapped up tightly in a blanket watching a movie with you boyfriend, Peter Parker. The two of you had been together for a short span of two months but you were both keen on keeping it quiet. It was no secret that your father didn’t like the idea of you dating, he even went to the extreme of having a member of the Avengers watch over you at almost all waking moment to make sure the unspoken rule was followed.

Natasha would ‘casually’ tag along on your trips to the mall when Steve suspected you were meeting with a boy. Sometimes Tony would offer to drive you and your friends around because your father was dead set on the idea that a boy would be involved. Bucky and Steve refused to let anyone besides the team train you thinking that one of the male agents would pull something on you. You were beyond thankful and appreciative of your father ( and the rest of the teams) over protectiveness but at times it was overbearing.

You hardly went out to movies with your friends anymore because Wanda’s suspicious eyes made them uncomfortable and Thor could quickly turn your hang outs into awkward learning sessions on Asgardian terms and ways of life. You felt suffocated and smothered twentyfour-seven, well that was you did until you met Peter Parker.

Despite your father having forced you to sit out of the fight between him and Tony a few months back, you still traveled along with him to Germany. Nobody dared involve you in the fight so you kept yourself roaming on the down low in the streets of Munich, Germany with a trusted S.H.I.E.L.D agents watching over you. When the fight was over, Natasha escorted you back to New York and on the plane ride home you were introduced to the one and only Spiderman himself.

It was an odd thing meeting Peter. You quickly found the two of you had a long list of traits in common. You both were total dorks, top of your class, had special abilities, and felt stuck on the outside. When your father and Tony worked everything out and the team became one again, Tony Stark offered Peter a spot on The Avengers, if he earned it.

Peter was ecstatic and trained nonstop with you, soaking all the information you could possible give him up like a sponge. But along the way through all your flirtatious comments and teasing acts, you began to develop feelings for Peter. He was the same age as you and you shared so much in common so how could you not fall for his adorable smile?

When Peter came to you early one Sunday morning with the news that Tony was letting him join in on the next upcoming mission, you couldn’t hold back. You leaped across the room closing the space between the two of you and pressed you lips against his chapped ones without warning. An eruption of butterflies and fireworks exploded inside of you at the embrace. Peter’s hands trailed up your side and stopped at the small of your back pulling you tight against his body. You kept your hands by your side feeling a bit awkward not knowing what to do with them, it was your first kiss after all. You pulled away moments later and grazed your numb lips with your fingertip.

“Wow…” Peter mumbled smiling widely.

‘Yeah…” You responded still glued to a state of shock.

From there on Peter Parker and yourself made a plan and vowed not to tell a single soul of your relationship until your dad eased up. The team never questioned either of you and Steve trusted you with Parker, thinking of him as only your friend. You had no idea how long it would take and for a while you pondered over the possibility of never being able to come public with your relationship. But now as you sat soundlessly in front of your dad the idea of never coming clean to Steve didn’t seem so bad.

“Dad I like him alot and I know you do too. He’s nice to me and he doesn’t make me feel so lonely in this place. I don’t have many friends, dad. Peter had always been there for me and he understands me.” You explained softly staring at the marble countertop. The mesh of greys and white were suddenly the most interesting thing you had seen as your the padding of your finger traced the designs.

“I did like him,Y/n. That was before I knew he was dating you.” He said sternly. After you dad caught you with snuggled up to Peter and demanded an explanation, he rushed you back home to your apartment in Brooklyn that your father shared with your Uncle Bucky.

Bucky was seated on the couch flipping through channels and trying to remain out of the argument. He had had his fair share of wars within the last year and the last thing he wanted was to get between Steve and you.

“We’re still dating, dad.” Your voice was shallow and low. You could feel your throat clenching up and tears building up in your eyes. Peter was your best friend and were quickly developing deeper feelings than you could handle, the last thing you needed was your dad against you.

From the corner of your eye you could see your Uncle Bucky shifting from his seat on the couch to turn and subtly glance at your father and you.

“That’s not the point- Y/n I’m just… I’m just upset you didn’t tell me, alright? I thought you knew you could tell me anything.” He admitted defeatedly. His eyebrows were scrunched together in deep thought as he stared at you from across the table. A bit of guilt washed over you as you took in his words knowing exactly what he was touching on. Your mother, whom was long gone and had no intention of returning, was a very distrustful person after your birth. She betrayed your family and left in the middle of the night without warning leaving your dad in ruins.

The last thing you wanted was to turn into your wariness mom.

Reaching across the tabletop you laid your hand on top of your dad’s giving it a light squeeze. “Dad I’m sorry I didn’t mean to hide anything from you. The only reason I kept it from you was because I knew you would react like this. I really like him, Peter that is, but I was scared you wouldn’t let me be with him and be mad at me.”

Glancing up at you with watery eyes Steve shook his head,

“No sweetheart, I could never be mad at you. You’re my little girl and I love you more than anything. I’m sorry I’ve been so protective of you I just don’t want to lose you like I did your mom. Parker’s a good kid, he’ll take care of you and I’m sorry I embarrassed you, Y/n. I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did.” A small visible trail of salt tears were skimming down Steve’s cheek making you feel even worse for not telling him in the first place. “You didn’t embarrass me, dad. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about Peter and I, I should’ve never tried to hide it from you at all.” Maneuvering around the long island you managed to throw your arms around your father’s broad shoulder hugging him tightly. He returned the gestured immediately and rubbed your back soothingly.

“It’s okay, sweetie. I can understand why you didn’t tell me, but from now on I want you to know you can be honest with me, okay?” He explained. You smiled happily and nodded your head in agreement.

A new presence filled the room as Bucky stood awkwardly by you two. Pulling apart Steve wiped his eyes and turned to your Uncle with curious eyes. Bucky threw his arm around your shoulder and chuckled loudly.

“You know Steve, I’m surprise it took you so long to figure out those two are dating. Natasha and I have caught them millions of time sneaking around the tower together.” Your eyes grew wide at his words. “Wait you knew?” You gaped up at him. James smirked down at you and ruffled your hair. “Of course I did. You guys aren’t exactly the best at keeping secrets.” Bucky teased reaching across the table to grab a purple plum from the bowl. Steve turned in his chair and stared at him in confusion. “Buck, why didn’t you tell me sooner?” He questioned. Chewing on the plump fruit Bucky shrugged. “Because I knew you’d freak out, besides they’re cute together and it was pretty amusing watching them think they were slik.” A faint blush painted your pale cheeks red. How had you not known Bucky had caught on to you and Peter? You thought you two were as careful as could be, what sort of slip up had you caused? Before you could push the matter anymore a loud knock on the front door cut you off. You dad excused himself and walked over to the door as you continued your discussion with Bucky who gave you a play by play on the exact moments he caught you and Parker together in the couple form.

A voice from the apartment door drew you away from Bucky and caused you to gaze over in realization. When Steve opened the door he was face to face with the one and only Spiderman who stood with his chest puffed out and a look of determination tracing his perfect features. You tried to signal to him from behind your father that you had worked everything out but he simply ignored you and started his mini rant.

“Hi Mr. Rogers, I’m sorry for dropping by unannounced but I needed to talk to you about Y/n and I. I’m sorry for disrespecting you and not telling you about how I feel for your daughter but I care about her a lot and you sort of intimidate me. Actually you really intimidate me and scare me a bit.  Anyways, I like Y/n a lot. She’s my closest friend and basically the only person I can relate to around here. I promise I have never nor do I plan on ever treating her wrongly, she means alot to me and she is beautiful and smart-” Stepping aside your dad motioned his arm towards the inside of you home and smiled warmly at the young teen.

“Peter would you like to come in for dinner? I was just about to put a pizza in the oven or maybe make some pasta. If it’s alright with your Aunt we would love to have you over.” Buck and you shared a look and snickered quietly watching the sudden mixture of dementedness and revelation. His hands were shoved in his pocket and he once again stumbled along with his words. “I- uh…um… you- well… yeah sure I g-guess. That uh- that sounds really nice.” Peter’s hand worked its way to the back of his neck scratching it uncomfortably. Steve shook his head and pointed his finger towards the kitchen. Peter’s big brown eyes landed on you the second he entered the room and his lips stretched.

“Y/n…” You gave him a small wave slowly making your way to him. Bucky sipped on his water trying to mask his laughter and avoid staring at you and Peter shifting awkwardly in front of each other. Steve bit his lips as he turned on the oven and strained his hearing hoping to catch in on your conversation.

“Hey Peter, what are you doing here?” You whispered grabbing ahold of his upper arm. Peter shrugged his shoulder and looked past you watching your dad pull a pizza out from a brown box.

“Well, uh it’s sort of lame but I came to talk your dad into letting us be together. I thought it would be all dramatic and he’d hate me but I think he took it pretty well.” Peter admitted. You could hear a muffled chuckle from your Uncle Bucky but he managed to replace it with a cough before Peter noticed.

Nodding you wrapped your arms around Peter’s waist and hugged him close. He reacted quickly, his hand reaching up to comb through your hair. With your head resting on his chest you gazed up at your boyfriend with a sweet smile,

“That’s so kind of you, my hero.”

Steve’s heart practically melted at the sound of your loving voice. As much as it hurt to see you growing up, Steve knew it was bound to happen eventually. Besides, he thought, things could’ve turned out much at worse, at least you weren’t seeing Deadpool.

A/N: Okay, so I might have a slight obsession with Bucky being with kids but alas, the obsession continues…

“Ugh, why won’t you stop crying?” I growled in frustration. The howling infant stopped for a second and looked up at my anguished expression. I thought that it had done the trick. He had stopped crying. I breathed a sigh of relief, but it was premature. He began to wail again and I was at a loss. It went without saying that I knew nothing about parenting or child care but when the owner of the diner where I worked asked me to babysit her four-month old baby for a week I jumped at the opportunity; simply because I needed the money.

I inspected the baby’s diaper and fed him but still he wouldn’t shut up. I didn’t know what else to do. It was only the first night and I was already losing my mind.

No amount of money could be worth this hell!

There was a hard knock on my front door. I assumed it was one of the residents of the building, coming over to complain about the screaming child at 11pm; probably that old hag Gertrude from the apartment upstairs. If it was her, I was going to give her an earful about how I never complained whenever she practiced for her irritating tap-dance class. I cracked open the door and peeked out,

A/N: Okay, So I Might Have A Slight Obsession With Bucky Being With Kids But Alas, The Obsession Continues…

“Can I help you?” I asked the man standing in the hallway. I had never seen him before.

“Look, I’m not trying to be an asshole but could you please keep your kid quiet? Some of us are trying to sleep here.” He wasn’t being rude and from the look of it, he really needed his sleep.

“Listen, buddy, I don’t appreciate you coming over here to…” The baby began to cry louder and drowned out my voice. Maybe he had a point. “…okay, I will see what I can do.” I sighed and the man smiled kindly before.

When I shut the door, the baby began to cry louder. I pressed my back against the wood of the door and sank to the floor, sobbing helplessly. Another knock, softer this time. “I said I will see what I can do!” I spat as I swung the door open. It was the same man as before. I wiped away my tears with the back of my hand and took a deep breath.

“Are you okay?” He asked as I sniffled and folded my arms across my chest. “I don’t mean to upset you but have you tried holding him?” I stepped aside and gestured for him to enter the apartment,

“be my guest. I can’t take this anymore!” The man looked hesitant, at first. He furrowed his brows and looked as if he was thinking deeply about what to do. “Well?” I asked expectantly and he stepped inside.

“Your apartment is really hot!” He complained as he removed his jacket. The shirt he wore underneath was long-sleeved as well.

“Yeah, the heat regulator is broken and I can’t afford to get it fixed just yet.” I confessed as I shut the door.

A/N: Okay, So I Might Have A Slight Obsession With Bucky Being With Kids But Alas, The Obsession Continues…

He pressed one knee onto the edge of the bed and unwrapped the blanket from around him as he lifted him into his arms with the gentlest touch; he was clearly afraid to the fragile infant. The baby curled into his body into the man’s arm and eventually stopped crying all together. “Wow, you’re really good at that.” I smiled as I watched him rock the baby back and forth slowly.

“See? He just wants to be loved.”

“Don’t we all?” I chuckled and the man smiled tightly. “You got a name?” It probably wasn’t a smart move to invite a man I didn’t know into my apartment. For all I knew, he could have been a mass-murderer. The man raised his head slowly before answering,

“Bucky.” I thought it was an odd name. I hadn’t met many men named ‘Bucky’ but I didn’t point that out. “You look a little young to be a mom; what’s his name?” He asked, wrapping his left arm around the baby’s leg. It was the first time I noticed that his fingers were metal.

“Err… he’s not my kid and his name is Christopher.” If he had any more questions, Bucky didn’t ask them. “Did you lose your arm in the war?” My curiosity got the better of me and I had to ask.

“Something like that.”

“Yeah, which one?” I placed my hand on his bicep, lightly. This guy was an all-round hero. He served his country, was great with kids and not that bad looking either.

“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” I was about to ask him to tell me more but he handed little Christopher back to me and grabbed his jacket from the chair. “I should get going, good luck with everything.” It was almost like my apartment was on fire and he needed to get out.

“Will I ever see you again, Bucky?” I didn’t want to come off too strong or too hopeful either. Bucky stopped in the doorway and looked at me over his shoulder.

“Maybe, one day.”

Unfortunately, one day never came.

Reminder that Steve Rogers was born in 1920, and Bucky Barnes was born in 1917, which means that Steve was in his early twenties during the war, and Bucky was in his mid twenties. I know that they’re both portrayed by 30 year old men, but really? They probably looked more like these guys:

Reminder That Steve Rogers Was Born In 1920, And Bucky Barnes Was Born In 1917, Which Means That Steve
Reminder That Steve Rogers Was Born In 1920, And Bucky Barnes Was Born In 1917, Which Means That Steve

Don’t forget that Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes had to grow up way too fast, not only because of the war, but because they were teenagers in the Great Depression, they were part of an extremely marginalized group during a time of extreme tension, and the whole dead parents thing. Don’t forget that Steve and Bucky probably never got to do dumb teenager things because they both had to do whatever work they could to stay afloat and then a WAR happened.

Think about all that pressure once Steve was “Captain America” and became a propaganda piece. Think about the atrocities of war that they’d have seen. Think about the fact that they both faced death. Think about the fact that Steve’s best friend died. THINK ABOUT HOW THESE KIDS ARE NOW SUDDENLY 95+ YEARS OLD. Think about Bucky, waking up and technically being maybe 27 and having to reconcile all the things HYDRA made him do as the Winter Soldier.

Peggy Carter was born in 1919. She is only a year older than Steve. She’s still in her twenties during Agent Carter, y’all. Let that sink in for a moment. She’s still in her twenties.

That flashback scene in The Winter Soldier with the “I’m with ya till the end of the line”? They were teenagers then. TEENAGERS.

REMINDER THAT THE MAIN CHARACTERS OF CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGERS WERE ALL CHILDREN.

Sleepover

Bucky Barnes/Reader

Sleepover

The Avengers tower was luxurious. The beds felt like actual clouds, there were light and sound systems in your room that you could adjust perfectly, and your apartment was so high up that you couldn’t hear the noises of the city, but still could see the stars. Your shower had been long and relaxing, as you could adjust the pressure just right. Your lights were off. You were in a somewhat comfortable position. So why the hell couldn’t you fall asleep?

Groaning in frustration, you got up and padded barefoot into your living room. The design of the whole little apartment (though it was missing a kitchen) was sleek and modern. You loved the atmosphere it set. Normally, you would feel right at home with these surroundings, and yet, you were just too worked up to sleep.

You chalked it up to still being relatively new here. You were already close to the avengers, but after an attack on your own home, they decided to move you into the tower. It was like a constant sleepover with good friends—but with a lot more weapons and fighting.

You stared at your clock for a moment. It was 11:30. Most of the avengers would already be asleep. Silently, you slipped out of your room, deciding to explore the tower more.

The level you lived on was just a hallway with two rooms. Steve lived beside you. A faint light shone from under his door, and a soft tune could be barely heard. You recognized it as an Elvis song.

You rolled your eyes. “Grandpa,” you whispered fondly under your breath before continuing down the hall.

You called the elevator, punching in the numbers for a few floors down. But the elevator started slowing to a stop a floor above your destination. You furrowed your brow in confusion. It was almost midnight—why would the other avengers be awake?

The metal doors slid open to reveal a very disheveled looking Bucky Barnes. He was clad in sweatpants and an iron man shirt, and his eyes squinted at the bright lights inside the elevator.

You hadn’t ever really talked to Bucky. He moved into the tower only a few days after you, but wasn’t much for conversation. You assumed he was getting over the traumatic experiences with Hydra—something all of the other avengers knew about, so they kept their distance. He was wary of everyone in the tower, though Steve tried to get him acclimated to living with all of them.

His blue eyes finally adjusted to the light and landed on you. You were also in pajamas.

“Can’t sleep?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.

You shook your head.

“Me either.” He stepped inside the elevator, and pushed the button to the same floor you were headed to. There were all sorts of rooms to poke around in down there.

You sat in awkward silence, contemplating your options. Bucky didn’t seem like the type to run around an empty floor at midnight. Then again, you didn’t really know what type he was. Eventually, your boredom got the best of you, and you said, “I’m gonna explore a bit. Want to come with?”

Bucky considered this for a moment, eyeing you levelly. “Tony keeps a stash of Oreos above the fridge,” he said finally. “We’re headed there first.”

You grinned at him. “Fair enough.”

“I can’t reach them!” You whispered harshly, jumping up and down in front of the fridge. Bucky was standing guard, just in case someone came down to this floor.

“Really? It’s not that high,” he said, obviously trying to hide the humor in his voice.

“Easy for you to say. I don’t have a super soldier serum! I’m normal human height!”

“Okay, I’ll get them—”

“No! I can do this!” Stubbornly, you looked around for anything to help you. “I’ll just climb on the counter. Just a sec—”

“Don’t, it’s slippery!”

Bucky’s warning was too late. You’d just pulled yourself onto the counter when you felt yourself slipping, falling fast toward the ground. Bucky was there in an instant, catching you right before you hit the floor.

You looked up at him, a mischievous grin overtaking your features. “Hey, guess what?” You said when you realized he was still holding you.

He raised his brow.

“I just fell for you!” You snickered at the pun as Bucky titled you upright again.

“You’re ridiculous.”

Quite a few Oreos later, the two of you wandered down the halls, having explored the rooms on that floor thoroughly.

“Hey, wait a minute,” Bucky said, lightly grabbing your arm to stop you. The contact sent a small shiver through you. You told yourself it was a draft.

“Let’s go to a different floor,” you suggested. “Maybe one of the offices. We could scare a few late workers.” It was already past midnight, so you doubted anyone would still be there—but you were getting bored. “We’ve already explored everything on this floor.”

“Not everything.” He pointed to a small crawlspace in the wall.

“What? No way!” You shook your head.

“Scared?” He arched a brow.

“No!” You defended. “Just…I think it’s too small for your shoulders to fit. And I’m not going in alone.”

“I think you’d be surprised to learn what I can fit into, doll.” He sent a suggestive wink your way. Scoffing, you playfully pushed at his shoulder. You were glad the lights were off—you didn’t want him to see the way your cheeks heated up.

“Besides, it’s a bad idea. Haven’t you ever seen a horror movie? Going into a dark crawlspace is like, the number one way to die.”

Bucky frowned. “I don’t think I have seen a horror movie.”

You stopped. “What? Really?”

He shook his head. “I’m sure they played them at drive-ins in Brooklyn,” he said thoughtfully, “But I can’t remember watching one.”

Astounded, you instantly made up your mind. “That’s it! We’re watching a horror movie!” You declared, grabbing his hand.

Bucky stiffened. For a moment, you panicked. You remembered how he shied away from the other avenger’s attention, avoiding physical—or even social, for that matter—contact. You really didn’t want to make him uncomfortable. The night had been going so well.

But then he grinned at you, letting you lead him down the dark hallway of the tower.

“I don’t understand why we can’t just go down to the movie theatre. That’s what it’s there for!” Bucky exclaimed, shaking his head with an exasperated smile.

“I have no idea why Tony thought a movie theatre was necessary in the tower,” you stated. “Plus, it takes away from the experience! Here, hold this end down.”

Bucky grabbed the corner of one of his sheets, keeping it in place as you draped the other side across a few chairs. The blanket fort was your idea, but Bucky had brought down his own materials. He’d provide the blankets if you shared your snacks.

Standing upright, you dusted off your hands and nodded approvingly. “It’s perfect.” The conference room table had been moved out of the way, the chairs strategically placed to hold up your fort. The opening was wide enough to see the tv.

“How do we get in?” Bucky asked, eyeing the tent.

“The door’s over here!” You held up a blanket at the end of the fort.

He took the blanket from you, motioning for you to go in. “Ladies first,” he grinned.

You complied, crawling into the tent while grumbling, “Don’t look at my ass, Barnes.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it,” he replied rather sarcastically.

Once Bucky had finally managed to crawl in, he looked around the fort. “What are you, some kind of blanket architect?”

“I’ve been building these ever since I can remember.” Using the remote to start the movie and turn the lights off (still a surprising feature to you), you settled in next to Bucky, nestling into the pillows and blankets you spread out on the floor. You opened a pack of candy and popped a piece into your mouth, content with how the night was going.

After a while, the movie was boring you. It was one you’d watched at least a thousand times. So, wanting something to do with your hands, you began to braid Bucky’s hair.

He didn’t flinch this time, but you saw his face twist with confusion. “…What are you doing?”

“Fishtailing,” you answered simply.

He nodded thoughtfully. “Oh.” A few moments of silence passed before he asked, “And what the hell does that mean?”

You smiled. “It’s a type of braid. Your hair is really soft, by the way. What shampoo do you you use?”

Instead of answering, he snorted. “You’re braiding my hair.”

Sitting up properly, you continued the braid, decided to make it wrap around his head. “This has got to be a real sleepover experience. Blanket fort, snacks, horror movie at 2 am, braiding hair, gossiping about friends…” You trailed off, watching his amused expression. “Actually, let’s skip that last one. I don’t want to gossip about people that can kill me.”

Bucky laughed, a smooth sound that contrasted so greatly with the man you first met a few days ago. Here, illuminated only by the tv, he didn’t look like the Winter Soldier. He just looked happy. You finished the braid, smiling at the finished product.

He sat up suddenly, earning a shout of protest when he almost knocked the fort down. “Teach me how,” he said.

He was suddenly very close, you realized. His lips were just inches from yours. You tried not to think about it.

“Teach you how?” You asked, internally wincing at how your voice wavered. He smirked, just the tiniest bit. “To braid. I’ll do yours.”

You grinned up at him. “I’ll show you.”

You took a small strand of your hair and separated it into thirds, demonstrating it for him. “Just cross it over into the middle each time. Like this.”

He nodded, studying the strand before moving behind you to start the braid. “So, over one to the middle…” He trailed off, sounding lost.

You giggled. “Here. I’ll help.” You rested your hands on his, guiding him through the steps.

Your felt his breaths on the back of your neck as he concentrated, trying once again not to think about how close he was. A small shiver ran down your back. You hoped he didn’t notice.

You didn’t realize how hyper-focused you were, because when a scream sounded from the film, you jumped with a startled yelp. However, with Bucky’s hands still in your hair, you didn’t get too far. The tug on your hair sent you falling backwards, straight into Bucky, who happened to be leaning on one of the fort’s support chairs. The whole thing collapsed on the two of you.

You groaned, your head still in Bucky’s lap. He lifted the sheets and looked down at you, quirking his brow in amusement. “You alright?” He asked, unable to keep the humor from his voice.

You nodded with a sheepish smile. “Guess I was just distracted,” you mumbled. “Sorry I ruined your braid.”

He leaned forward, hovering slightly above you. “I don’t mind,” he said, moving closer to you. “Truth is, I had a sister. I already knew how to braid.” He didn’t look the least bit apologetic.

You scoffed, feigning indignation. “You think you’re smooth?” You said, amused.

“No,” Bucky answered, so close you could feel his breath on your lips. “I know I am.” His hand moved to cup your face as he leaned down farther, finally closing the distance between the two of you. The kiss was slow at first, hesitant—but after a moment, you worked up enough courage to deepen the kiss, only breaking away from him to sit up properly.

When the two of you finally pulled away, breathless, Bucky rested his forehead against yours. The sheet was still wrapped around the two of you, keeping you close, and the movie credits were just coming to an end. You giggled at the absurdity of the situation. Here you sat, in a collapsed blanket fort with the winter soldier, who still had your braids in his hair.

“What’s so funny?” He asked.

You shook your head. “Just…haven’t had a sleepover like this before.” He chuckled, gently lacing his fingers with yours. You yawned, slouching slightly. “It’s already around 4 in the morning,” you said, a sleepy smile overtaking your features. “Want to just stay down here?”

He untangled the two of you from the sheet, returning your grin. “Fine by me, doll.”

You settled down into the heap of pillows and blankets, sighing contentedly as Bucky’s arms wrapped around you. You fell asleep almost instantly.

“Where the hell are my Oreos?” Tony stomped out of the kitchen, eyeing the avengers in the lounge. “Which one of you took them?”

Wanda put her hands up defensively, the rest of the group simply shook their heads.

“Maybe it was Bucky. Or Y/N,” Sam suggested.

“Speaking of which,” Nat asked, “Where is Y/N? We were gonna go for a jog.”

Tony, who had begun sulking back to the kitchen, froze in front of the door to the conference room. “Oh my god. Cap, at least your friend is warming up to one of us.” He immediately took out his phone, snapping a few pictures. Confused, Steve made his way over to Tony, raising his eyebrows in disbelief when he saw the scene before him.

The other avengers crowded around to see you on a nest of blankets and pillows, curled up in Bucky’s arms, sleeping peacefully. There were snacks all around you and an old case for a horror movie. Bucky’s hair was still in braids.

“Bucky was good at charming the ladies,” Steve said, shaking his head.

Tony cupped his hands around his mouth, ready to shout something to the two of you, when Natasha cuffed him on the back of the head. “Just let them sleep,” she said. “We can humiliate them later. I don’t want to have to deal with both of them being grumpy.”

“Fine,” Tony groaned. “But next time, they need to get their own damn Oreos.”
