No, thank YOU, you magnificent human being. Thank you for creating a franchise that I fell in love with at the age of 12 and have never stopped loving. Thank you for your love of movies. It’s totally evident in your games, and while few somehow hate the long cutscenes, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you for your sense of humor. “Funny” isn’t a word I see commonly associated with Metal Gear, but each game has the perfect amount of humor in it. Not too much, and not too little. Thank you for being there for me. Now I don’t mean that you were there personally for me, but you were there for me through your games. Believe it or not, Metal Gear has helped me get through some rough times. Though I wouldn’t mind if you were there for me in the flesh… we’d be good friends, even with a slight language barrier. Thank you for knowing what’s best for your games. Where other developers would milk it for all that it’s worth, you’re not afraid to bring a decades-old franchise to a close. Even if it costs your studio being closed and losing ownership to your own work, you always stick to your guns. And no matter what Konami does with it, Metal Gear will always be YOUR game. And most of all, thank you for just being you, man. I can’t wait to see what you have next for us, free from the chains of Konami. You’re capable of so much. I hope you find a place that doesn’t question your direction and lets you complete your vision. You know what you’re doing. You’re pretty good. But anyway, that’s all I wanted to say. I don’t know if you’ll ever actually read this, but this was my little thank you. Thanks for everything. We love you, Mr. Kojima!
