Hi Everyone! We Are The Voltage Organized Workers!

Hi everyone! We are the Voltage Organized Workers!

The writers of Lovestruck have come together to unanimously demand better working conditions, greater transparency, and increased protections. To that end, we asked the management of Voltage USA to recognize us and meet our demands - and since management has refused, we will be going on strike.

All of the Lovestruck writers are members of marginalized genders and/or sexualities. We have been given an invaluable foot in the door to the industry and a platform to tell stories that represent our voices, our passion, and our experiences. We are also all fans of the app, and we care deeply about the stories we tell.

However, not only are we paid less than half the industry standard rate, we are asked to meet extremely tight deadlines and produce enormous amounts of content without protections or benefits.

We want to see our hard work and commitment to authentic storytelling given the value it deserves.

Want to help us? Well first off–thanks!

The best thing you can do is send messages to Lovestruck contact asking them to recognize us.

All our fans are important to us. You’re the people supporting us, and we hope that you will help us improve our situation. We know that you have your own concerns, and we’re confident that this move will help to address those as well.

While our strike won’t immediately affect content in the app, it will certainly delay stories that you’re eager to see. There is a contact field on the Voltage website, and the more they hear from fans, the more likely they are to want to talk to us.

Above all, please do NOT boycott the game. We’re counting on you still being there and reading the stories you love.

Please also do not send anyone any harassment, on our behalf or otherwise. We do not condone such behavior. Keep your messages respectful. At the end of the day, the people you’re messaging are still our coworkers, and we want to get back to work as quickly as possible.

Message us with questions here or on any of the social media accounts listed below!

(Just bear in mind that there are some questions we can’t answer without breaking our NDAs.)

We’re hoping to have good news for you within a few days, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated of any developments.

let me just say that… i love the symmetry of FMC being the keeper of the lighthouse and Arin being the guardian of the library, or even of the university itself.

in order words, they protect the two most important and magical locations in New Whitethorn, both of which bring light: the lighthouse in a literal sense, of course, and the library in a metaphorical sense—the light of knowledge.

the symmetry is beautiful. i can’t wait to learn more, and i hope they take it in interesting directions.

ATTENTION RESIDENT EVIL ARTISTS

(honestly any artist who makes fanart)

ATTENTION RESIDENT EVIL ARTISTS

An online shopping website known as Society6 has taken not only my art, but a gigantic collection of artworks from other people and are selling them as prints, clothing, clocks, etc.

I barely scrapped the surface of what was on there, but I know the artworks I did see being sold were originally from tumblr. (I unfortunately can't remember the names of the artists.)

I highly recommend if you've made Resident Evil 8 art at any point to go on this website and see if your work, or someone's work you recognise is on there.

PLEASE BOOST THIS SO PEOPLE CAN BE NOTIFIED

As someone who has never faced something like this before please let me know what I AND OTHERS can do to get their art taken down.

BTW this doesn't just apply to Lady Dimitrescu - there is stolen art for almost every character in the game.

Guide: Keeping Numbers & Number-Related Details Straight in Your Story

I was midway through my answer when I realized this would be a good opportunity for a quick guide.

About That Post...

Honestly, I think the OP was probably a bit of a tongue-in-cheek, hyperbolic rant from a writer who had a frustrating review or critique. The problem is, a lot of people seem to be taking it as genuine/good advice, and that really concerns me.

Obviously, it's fine to be vague about dates, ages, distances, or anything else if that's what you want to do. But don't leave numbers out because you're not willing to do the work to keep your story's details straight. Doing the work to figure that stuff out and keep it straight is part of your job as a serious writer.

Hey, Buddy! Let's Do Some Research!

Look, I get it... when you're excited about a story idea, you just want to go wild and start writing. But if your story uses real world people, events, locations, items, or other elements--or heavily relies on them as inspiration--you need to sit down and do some research.

This doesn't mean you have to choose exact dates for your story if you don't want to. But if your story is loosely set in the 1880s (or inspired by an 1880s setting,) you'd better have a good idea of what did and did not exist in the 1880s so you can be sure you're not using a 1914 fashion trend or 1700s slang.

And, doing research doesn't mean you have to research every single element of your story before you start writing. You can stop and research as you go. In the middle of my writing session tonight, I spent 15 minutes researching what kind of pine tree would grow near the coast in my WIP's inspiration setting. And even though that location will never be named in my story, I care about my writing enough to take the time to make sure my details are accurate.

Timelines: A Writer's Best Friend

Whether or not you choose to be specific about dates in your story, I strongly advocate the use of a story timeline, even if you're not usually a "planner." Having a detailed story timeline (that includes important back story events) helps ensure that you don't mix up dates, lose track of how much time has passed between events, or create overlapping events.

There are loads of different ways you can create a timeline, and no way is better than any other. You can jot important dates and events down on post-its, use an app, draw out a timeline on a piece of paper, create something in Word... whatever you want to do is great! Here are some different timeline styles I've used. Some of these are timelines from actual WIPs.

Standard Line Timeline

Calendar Timeline (You can print these out at Time and Date...)

Basic Scene List & Timeline

Complex Scene List & Timeline (This one is based on Save the Cat!)

Color-Coded Timeline

And, if you're like me and you have trouble keeping character ages straight throughout important back story events, I give you...

The Color-Coded Character Age Chart

"Don't Put Numbers Into Your Stories." Jeezus.

And, honestly, that's how you keep numbers and number-related details straight in your story. Research and timelines. It's just that simple!

So, don't be afraid to include numbers or number-related details in your story if you want them there. :)

This year's Inktober is out, and so the topic of it, the Redactober.

An inktober based on the SCP Foundation

As last year, I value creativity over quality. And thus year I include photography as a proposal so u don't need to know how to draw

Every SCP and topic here can be found in YouTube videos to summarize it, u don't have to have a deep lore underatandin', just willin' to be kidnapped by memetic hazards

The price for this year is as last one, a full rendered draw of whatever u want, and this time I will make a highlight list of all ur draws!

W/ no further delay, I announce the second A.C. Luna's Inktober contest, REDACTOBER 2024
