normalize being divorced without ever being married or having a romantic relationship or even necessarily mutually liking each other at all in the first place
if rhaenyra and alicent aren’t in love then why do they always look like they’re getting married and exchanging vows
inspired by this twitter post
alicent going on a whole tangent to rhaenyra about how viserys never got over his first love and everything he did was coloured by his unresolved guilt and grief over that relationship and then leaving the rest unsaid was clown behaviour. alicent hightower rambling about regret and lost love during another visit to rhaenyra targaryen’s house which could mean nothing
all the shakespeare parallels in rhaenicent are driving me INSANE welcome back romeo and juliet welcome back lord and lady macbeth welcome back hamlet and ophelia

And even if getting Rhaenyra in as a soloist was a staggering show of nepotism, she was still the best concert pianist on the planet. It was like when Dmitri Junior recorded Shostakovich’s second. You could get mad about it for a bit, but it was ultimately fair game. Alicent had already reached all these conclusions because Viserys had spoken to her weeks ago about programming the Concerto, which only had the unwanted effect of giving her time to turn it over in her brain like a particularly nauseating Rubix cube. Each solution of the puzzle led her to the same conclusion: she would be seeing Rhaenyra imminently, and there wasn’t a damn thing she could do about it.
After ten years apart, Rhaenyra Targaryen re-enters Alicent’s life for a set of solo engagements with her orchestra. Things go about as well as expected (not very).
rhaenyra is such a girldad. and i dont mean that in the typical "rhaenyra you are the father" green kids jokes kinda way. i mean that rhaenyra has traumatized jace in a way only a father can traumatize his eldest daughter while still loving her unconditionally and no i will not explain further
