I love the way seemingly unrelated, random things connect on tumblr. A couple of weeks ago, a Series of Unfortunate Events blog I follow reblogged a cat meme regarding a cat named Snicket from Cat Suggest. I wound up scrolling through the Cat Suggest tumblr until I happened upon a lovely sampler pattern which this tumblr had made from one of their posts, and now I’m considering getting back into cross-stitch (”back into” I say as though I’ve ever finished anything) just because I went on a funky tumblr walkabout. It has its pros and cons, but it’s a pretty neat site that way :)
We genuinely can’t believe it. You guys are so amazing and we’re so happy to be on this journey with all of you, absurd blue hellsite and all. The folks who have told us that they rekindled a hobby, or those that have started new, the wild submissions, and the sheer quantity of people who have made the absurd electrical impulses from our brains into a thing you can hold in your hand brings us joy on a daily basis.
So what are we giving away?
1. A pattern commission from us. It will be around our standard size and complexity, in .pdf form
2. A mystery needle minder! Prism has been practicing construction in anticipation of the Nat 20′s we’re going to get in, so she’s got a small array of tests that came out very nicely.
3. A mystery kit! So many mysteries. We’re just getting started creating kits, so you can get your hands on one before they become available.
4. A gorgeous pattern from @mathysphere. If you haven’t taken a look at their patterns, you should! Right here! The entire pride planet series is amazing. We went with the first of the series for our giveaway:
Fun Fact: Mathy was the very first blog that ever followed us. We were mildly intimidated because their stuff is so dang cool.
What are the rules?
Current followers and folks who follow us before April 5th (12:00PM Central US time) will be automatically entered into the contest.
For other entries like or reblog this post. Multiple reblogs are allowed within reason and our discretion. Don’t annoy your spacemates. Giveaway specific blogs will be disqualified. We’ll post updates if we think of any. Good luck!
Flynn Carsen is a mood.
And also either preposterously wealthy or achingly deep in debt, though it’s probably the former because at a certain point I think they stop giving you loans.
But I can’t blame him; if I had unlimited money, I too would have 20+ degrees and still be in college.
you ever think about how the whole librarians franchise began thanks to flynn carsen getting kicked out of college because his professor thought he had too many degrees and not enough of a social life
I watched this episode tonight, and I must say, I’m not sure if I was in just the right mood or what, but I don’t think I’ve ever shipped anything on the Orville quite this much before. Like, I find Claire and Isaac and Ed and the Krill lady intriguing, and I root for Ed and Kelly, but none of them give me quite this many feels.
I mean, it was clear from the start that this was going to be a tragic ship, and in a way perhaps it was that underpinning of inevitable tragedy that made it so beautiful. But like... it was so sweet and moving and I felt so much for Gordon. I wanted it to last even though it obviously couldn’t; I wanted them to be happy.
Now I want them to develop time travel for real so he can go back and meet the real Laura, not just the computer-synthesized version of her. Perhaps this is the perfect time for a Doctor Who crossover AU...

So I’ve been working on transcripts of these farmers’ memories at my job and one of them mentioned his old Jet Star tractor... Turns out the “Minneapolis-Moline ‘Jet Star’” was a model of tractor in the late 50′s and early 60′s.
So, for anyone in the Killjoys fandom looking for a potential origin story for Jet Star’s moniker, consider this: he grew up on a farm, and when BLI took over and everyone started picking fancy names, he took the name of one of his family’s old tractors. Maybe he felt nostalgic for his youth on the farm, or maybe he just thought it sounded cool; perhaps it’s a bit of both.
This post caused me to look this song up, and it’s very catchy! It has such a swift, unceasing pace to it and an epic buildup, and it captures the feeling of running. Also, of course, very fitting for the Hargreeves, and very nicely paired with these gifs.
Side note, the rhythm of this song makes me think of Loki’s Song by Lucinda Holdsworth. It’s not an exact match, but enough that it brought it to mind and I thought I might as well recommend it :)
don’t blame me because I can’t help where I come from ♫
The other day I was walking out the back door at work and a crow startled me and I can tell I'm far gone on the Vampire Diaries because, just for a split second, something in my brain went "Damon? Is that you?"
Rainbow kitty is so pretty <3
Is this kitty a savannah? They look like a savannah.
Also I’ve been restraining myself from reblogging cats for a while because I was trying to keep my blog more fandom-y, but I was just about to reblog a thing in which I contribute to a conversation involving dogs and I was like “wait, I still haven’t reblogged any cat things yet. I am a crazy cat lady. This is unacceptable.” So I decided to come back for this lovely rainbow kitty.
Wow, these druids are really in character!
Hahaha. The cutest way to TPK :)
Total party wipe in my DnD game the other night. Damn op kittens.
No hate to Star Wars, but Earth is a really awesome planet and this is a super cool post! :)
Oh, and speaking of pink lakes, this reminds me of Lake Hillier in Australia (image source: https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/lake-hillier)
And also, I know people get all excited about Hoia Baciu forest because it’s supposedly haunted and an alien sighting hotspot or whatever, but just aesthetically, I think the curvy trees would be a neat look for a far-off planet. And speaking of funky looking forests, did I mention the rainbow eucalyptus forest in the Philippines? (image source: https://matadornetwork.com/trips/75-places-so-colorful-its-hard-to-believe-theyre-real-pics/)

Yeah, sci fi in general could do well to take more advantage of these things. Like, I know filming in quarries is a time-honored Doctor Who tradition, and I’m not suggesting an end to that. Welsh quarries are neat, too :) But the world is full of a great many fantastic sights.
why are star wars planets more boring than earth and our solar system like sure we’ve seen desert, snow, diff types of forest, beach, lava, rain, but like…
rainbow mountains (peru)
red soil (canada/PEI)
rings (saturn’s if they were on earth)
bioluminescent waves
northern lights (canada)
salt flats (bolivia, where they filmed crait but did NOTHING COOL WITH IT except red dust?? like??? come ON)
and cool fauna like the touch me not or like, you know, the venus flytrap.. and don’t get me started on BUGS like… we have bugs cooler than sw aliens
BASICALLY like???? come on star wars you had one (1) job where are the cool alien species
*Wiggling the string toy for my cats*
*I swing it over to Maple's paws*
Maple: Mother you are breaking my immersion. No prey would so readily surrender itself to me. I am a hunter to be feared. Mother I cannot believe that this is a creature I am meant to hunt. It should fear me. It should tremble and flee before--
*I swing the toy away*
Maple: Mother. That is simply too far. I am not going over there.
Welcome, dear traveller, to our fantastical lande shrouded in swirling violet mists. Here we study how stories shape our lives, how words weave wonders before our eyes. Here we are enamoured of love and the connections betwixt people. Here we seek daring adventures in our wild lande, delving into the unknown at every turn.
