it's trans day of visibility (TDOV) today so i'm here to recommend some fics to celebrate!

before i do, a note on the day: trans visibility is a double-edged sword. "visibility" is often straightforwardly equated with liberation and empowerment but for many, many people visibility is also dangerous, life-threatening even. under no circumstances should anyone out someone else nor should anyone feel pressure to out themself for the sake of "visibility". liberation should never depend on being legible or visible - ask yourself, visible to whom?

that being said, seeing yourself in media, in the public sphere is vital. there's nothing quite like it. every time a trans person is truthfully, faithfully, and lovingly portrayed in media another trans person gets their wings.
