For a small fandom, being another victim of trash adaptation—it is, for sure, undeniably obnoxious. A book where the Jewish diaspora is both metaphorical and literal, the concept of peculiarities, and the world-building that's centered around "time"—I don't have the words to describe how fast I got off from the peculiardom. Honestly, it's quite personal to me because it's so gothic, noir-ish, and it's magically haunting. I wish I would've been immersed with Jacob's character wholly if he wasn't limited through his love life.

It's unfair for the franchise to begin with because I believe the popularity died down after the movie came out. No one is gonna acknowledge the books because all the shit that's made it profound are missing onto the screen. Or, perhaps because it went on until 2021 to the point that more popular stuff uproared that the books collided within the shadows (which is interesting because ToA never got this treatment, but it's R-ck's work. The reviews for it aren't piss, though.) The fanarts are another thing. I've drawn for the fandom, but it's only about Fiona and Hugh. Aside from me, everything else is about fucking Enoch.

MPHFPC, you deserved better.

When I thought quarantine-era PJO fandom was already toxic that it soured my experience, never would I also bereft the fandom would be equally toxic as before. It's a good thing popularity never reached me for this fanbase, even if it sounds unfortunate.

They steal artworks; they never credit them. They seem to irrevocably incline V-ria's official art (well, it is official for a reason, but.. they aren't as much well-described from the books—consider the Kane Chronicles. Sadie, specifically.) I yearn for the fandom to be aware that her official art still has some of her personal visionary that strays a little from the book. Though, in the end, it's not a big deal.. But I'm gonna say I'm glad she didn't continue being PJO's top artists anymore. Influential she may be, I can not deny, but I've got some insights how awfully parasocial this fandom's to her. And I don't even need to like her how bad that shit was.

This fandom is also quite allergic to characters drawn with kinky, curly hair for some reason? Even for White characters, they got some disapproval. I'm not surprised by how they treat Hazel's hairstyle and herself overall back in the 2010s.

every couple of days someone makes a post on here that's basically "watch out for those scamming palestinians! they're really annoying and i don't like them, which disproves the extensive vetting efforts, because my discomfort is the most important thing in the universe" and everyone in the reblogs is like "thank god someone finally said something! i knew it! i had an inclination in my heart that those palestinians are dirty scammers all along and i was waiting for someone to confirm it! and now that you said you find them annoying that finally confirms it! wait shit that sounds racist i mean uhhhh it's so tragic that those scammers are taking advantage of a tragedy :( pretending to be real palestinians :( we all know real palestinians don't know how to use the internet :( thank you for talking about these fakers :(" i hope you all die

While I may enjoy a few ships that are considered problematic and some fictional stories that have reactionary elements, I have lost a lot of respect for self identified proshippers in the wake of many white, and some POC liberal, fandom blogs openly gloating about preferring to donate to AO3 over gofundme. Even aside from Palestinians who these liberals view as all scammers, people set up gofundmes to escape abusive homes or conservative communities, to put food on the table or aid medical expenses. If you think that marginalized people who ask for money deserve to suffer because they didn’t support Copmala btw, you are human garbage and have no understanding of true solidarity.

I’m going to be very blunt with this. Asking people to spare even a dollar for those in need does not make someone an “anti” with “main character syndrome”. It’s fine to enjoy fanfiction and fandom but if you think those hobbies are more important than human lives and that anyone who calls you out is just being entitled, then you need to rethink your priorities. Being asked to have a bare minimum of decency should not make you uncomfortable and being uncomfortable is not inherently bad because some things should make you question your beliefs or your actions.

It’s the same reason leftists ask people to read theory and watch more mature or nuanced media than just kids shows. Not because we hate autistic people with special interests but because even genuinely good progressive children’s media can only tackle social/political issues on a base level. Again, it’s fine to have hyperfixations or participate in fandom but there’s a line. The lives of real people are always more important than your favorite stories, whether it’s abandoning the wizard books for solidarity with trans women or sparing some money for gofundme and listening as opposed to dismissing them all as scams so you can sleep at night.

i know i shouldnt be suprised but sinners being out for less than a week and already tumblr is fandomifying and 'poor wet pathetic cat'-ifying the main white man villain of the movie is so... disapointing??? like did the fucking point of the movie really go over your heads that badly or are you just willingly ignorant and stupid?

AND BEFORE ANYONE STARTS; im not saying you cant like remmick, he's a very interesting character, a great villain, and jack o'connell gave a great performance playing him, nor do i care if you think hes sexy, I think hes sexy

but i think to come out of a movie where vampires serve as a metaphor for how black american communities have the life sucked out of them by white people via cultural appropriation (remmick wanting to use sammie's gift to summon his own ancestors) and forced assimilation (all the turned vampires singing and dancing along with remmick's irish folk song and dance juxtaposed with the blend of cultures during sammie's song in the juke joint) and for your main take away to be 'aww the main villain is just a misunderstood sadboy' or 'idc abt the atrocities he looked sexy doing them (when the atrocities in question were racism)' then youre just being so disengenuous and antithetical to the whole point of the film?

and dont come at me with the 'let people enjoy things' bullshit, sinners is a movie FUNDAMENTALLY about racism and racial dynamics in the united states, and i do think focusing on your little y/n x [whiteboy of the month] fics and 'hes so babygirl' posts do actually stunt your own critical engagement with the message this movie was trying to convey to its audience

i think its also a disservice to remmick's character; the moral nuance that comes to light when you consider his position as an irish immigrant to the US, a victim of the colonialist british empire just like the black main cast (although in a very different way) and how, whilst his desire to reclaim his ancestry and heritage is understandable and even relatable, his pursuit of sammie and willingness to kill literally everyone else at the juke joint is allegorical for how, regardless of their own marginalisation, white people will prey upon and steal from black culture(s) and destroy/disenfranchise black communities to serve their own interests, and the movie is NOT subtle about this either, delta slim literally lays it out for us "white folks like the blues just fine, they just don't like the people who make them"

idk im yelling into the void here, the ppl im complaining about are never going to give a shit about racism or even just critically engaging with art when theres a new cute whiteboy to write fluff and angst about, but its just soooo annoying to see, yet again, how fandom spaces, which SHOULD be about uplifing and celebrating art in all its diversity and complexity, once again is nothing more than people ignoring anything that actually makes them have to confront reality and filing off the serial numbers to slot characters into pre-determined fanon molds so they can pump out incorrect quotes and coffee shop AUs en masse until the media iliterate heat death of the universe

In front of you are two canonically pale-skinned (male) characters: one muscular, one with a decent body. You can reform them to any headcanon you like; it's twice the spiciness. HOWEVER, if you were to headcanon them another skin-colour aside from paleness—which one of the characters are you going to do so?

The muscular one, or the decent one?

In front of you are two (male) characters: one is brown/dark-skinned (or maybe "tan" if that's how far they go), and the other's pale-skinned. Both of them have decent body types. None of them are too muscular. Yet, here's the real deal, some fans don't like if there isn't some sort of a power-play dynamic between them. In order for that to happen, they have to conceive headcanons for them!

So who's gonna be the muscular one: the brown/dark-skinned one, or the pale-skinned?

(Hint: some fans like tropes where one is brutish and one is dazzingly pure.)

Annie: There are legends of people born with the gift of making music so true, it can pierce the veil between life and death; conjuring spirits from the past...and the future. In ancient Ireland, they were called Filí. In Choctaw land, they called them Fire Keepers. And in West Africa, they were called Griots. This gift can bring healing to their communities. But it also...attracts evil....

Sinners (2025)

if sinners (2025) taught me anything, it's that it IS actually always about race.

you can be oppressed, and still promote and maintain the very same systems of oppression onto other marginalized people. being oppressed in one dimension doesn't allow you to be exempt from oppressing in other dimensions. the "villain" of the movie, remmick, being from the time period of the english colonization of ireland, all the while wanting to take a piece of sammie's own culture from him, use him for it. and this plot point coming after remmick witnesses the significance of sammie's playing within his culture, for his ancestors and how it would shape Black culture in the future.

even in today's society, ive noticed that people treat Black people like a commodity. our worth is only as much as other people decide it to be, and that's usually dependent on how much the oppressor can take from us. for example, the controversy of"internet slang" and how it is blatantly just AAVE with a bad disguise on

do you listen to Black musicians? do you watch Black movies? do you engage with Black creators? do you defend the racist tendencies you notice in your friends, in your family, or do you stay silent? do you listen when Black people tell you you've said or done something racist? do you actually care about not being racist, or do you just not want to look like you're racist?

i just think people have a very specific take on what racism is, and that if they're not committing KKK-levels of violence on people, then they're not racist. or if you've experienced oppression in one form, you cannot possibly be engaging with oppression in another form. but the ways in which we interact with other people and the world will always be through the lens of race, because that is simply what it means for oppression to be systemic, especially in the US and our current political climate

anyway 10/10 movie. highly recommend

The funny thing about Artemis Fowl is the way my dad pitched it too me was "Percy Jackson but with Fairies." which is not accurate at all. Like, it did get me to read the book and I'm glad I did but Percy Jackson and Artemis Fowl are vastly different.

Hello supporters 👋

Hello Supporters 👋

As of today I am here to appeal to you for support ❤️🙏, we all know very well that the peace agreement that was signed in SOUTH SUDAN expired last month . This month south Sudan has gone back to war.

EVIDENCE IS HERE BELOW 👇

Is South Sudan heading to another civil war?
Al Jazeera
Tension is rising in South Sudan after the vice president is put under house arrest.

We are really suffering, there's too much hyperflation and there's no crossing 🚸 since there have been gun shots everywhere.

We are really starving and have no food to eat. Being LGBTQ refugees in war-torn country, the situations are piling up day after another, from discrimination to insecurities.

Hello Supporters 👋

We call upon you the well-wishers with heart of humanity to intervene in our lives by donating to us so we can sustain ourselves and lives during this tough time.

Should you be in position to host a ZOOM MEETING, we are available for it . Any amount of dollar can really resurrect hopes of living in us.

We all know USAID fundings have been stopped 🛑 from Africa by president Donald Trump, meaning the only way out is private clinics which are expensive and require Money.

Has anyone made an original fanfic/story about a paranormal investigator searching an abandoned building (be it a cabin, house, or mall)? While they're exploring the deepest parts of said building, they find a corpse, stealthily hidden. Its body is rotten—you can assume it's been placed there for years. The investigator stupidly caresses the corpse's cheek—and oh, its ghost felt the warmth of the investigator's palm.

Like a bittersweet (love) story, but the ghost and the investigator were never meant to be.

Traumatized in Ireland While my Family is Facing Death and Starvation in Gaza

Note: Vetted by:

1. @el-shab-hussein and @nabulsi # 151 on the spreadsheet of Vetted Gaza Fundraisers List]

2. @riding-with-the-wild-hunt Here .

I contemplate the happy faces of people around me here in Ireland and reminisce about the happy normal life my family and I had before the war. A life that turned into a distant memory for us and was replaced by an unending series of horrible nightmares.

Unlike my family in Gaza, people here have access to drinking water, all types of food, electricity, and a roof over their heads. Above all, they are safe, and I cannot help but wonder if they genuinely do appreciate these blessings in their lives enough.

People seem relaxed and laughing wholeheartedly around me in Ireland. I wish I could laugh too, but I am crushed way beyond recovery on the inside. I was evacuated by my Irish college after five months of living the horrors of war in Gaza. I hope you will never know what it feels like to live in constant fear and worry and be horrified by the most sickening and scary nightmares every single night while you are far away from your family in such circumstances.

Traumatized In Ireland While My Family Is Facing Death And Starvation In Gaza
Traumatized In Ireland While My Family Is Facing Death And Starvation In Gaza

When did my people in Gaza cease to be human beings worthy and deserving of a normal life? Has it become normal now for my family in Gaza to be starved and killed while the whole world is watching the genocide? If that is the case, then you will have to excuse me if I seek every avenue to bring them to Ireland and start a new normal life like all people here around me.

Traumatized In Ireland While My Family Is Facing Death And Starvation In Gaza
Traumatized In Ireland While My Family Is Facing Death And Starvation In Gaza

I was assured by the Irish Reugee Council (IRC) and lawyers in Ireland that there is hope I can reunite with my family in Ireland. In difficult times, it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. For me and my family, you are literally our light and hope for a better life.

ahoyakosi-kape - 🦋 collides with world and wilderness 🦋

It is so rare, for a day of peace. So, so rare. For the Apollo cabin to be empty, for siblings to be busy, for the sun to be gentle and the birds to be sweet.

"Hey, Will."

So serene. Truly. Cecil lounging on Will's bed, remembering to have taken his shoes off for once. Quietly flipping through a comic book. Will, suffering but willingly, with his Calculus III textbook on the floor. Actually making progress this time, gunning through practice questions.

And Lou Ellen.

It always has to be one of them.

Lou Ellen watches, velvet skirts tucked under her crossed ankles, dark eyes squinting in contemplation.

Will barely looks up, scrawling something illegible over the most graphite-smudged paper maybe in the entire world.

"Yeah."

"Can we kiss for a little bit?"

That works. The slowly shifting sun through the dusty windows pauses. The chisme plants turn, slowly, shifting their stems to the center of the cabin. Will takes a full seventeen seconds to visibly separate from his textbook, process the question, and erupt into a shade of red previously unknown to man.

"Um," he says, or rather squeaks. "Yes?"

Cecil snorts, turning a page.

"Bicycle."

"Shut the fuck up, Cecil."

"Just like your father."

"Shut the fuck up, Cecil."

"I just want to try something," Lou Ellen soothes, potentially hearing the lack of breathing happening in Will's general direction. "Like, for science. That works for you, right, nerd?"

"Science generally begins with a hypothesis and due process," says Will weakly. But he dutifully crawls over to her direction, settling in front of her. "Um. Now?"

"Now would be great," Lou Ellen agrees. She tilts her head. "So do you just, like, go for it, or...?"

"I mean. In my experience?"

"Which is about to go from two to three," Cecil adds.

This time, Lou Ellen and Will are in perfect sync:

"Shut the fuck up, Cecil!"

Cecil flips another page and promises nothing.

The determination has slowed some of the blush in Will's face, containing it high in his cheeks. Or, well, spite. Cecil-branded fury. That does a whole lot of activating every modicum of ADHD impulsivity in Will's soul.

"Okay," he says, nodding to himself. He meets Lou Ellen's wide, round eyes. "Okay, so I'm gonna -- lean in. And we gotta close our eyes or it's weird. And then I'm gonna kiss you, okay? And you test."

Lou Ellen nods, serious. "Got it."

She breathes in, then out. She purses her lips, leaning forward. Her hands rest, fingers spread, on her knees. Her eyes flutter shut.

Will exhales. He squeezes his eyes shut.

He leans in, gently, and presses his lips to hers, resting a warm hand on the soft curve of her jaw.

"Hm," says Lou Ellen, as they separate. "Hm."

Will shifts nervously.

"You smell good," he offers. "And you taste like orange shampoo. In a good way."

Lou Ellen narrows her eyes at him. She reaches her hand out slowly, like how you may approach a startled horse, and grabs Will's chin with the tips of her fingers.

"Why," Will says.

"Hm," says Lou Ellen, again. She moves his face from side to side, inspecting. Will does not protest, but does choose to make an entirely unintelligible gesture with his hands. "You are hot, aren't you."

"Gah??" Will says. The confusions shifts rapidly from his face; his eyes widen, pupils narrowing, he tries and fails to pull slightly away and generally makes a collection of noises that boil down to hey, pardon. "I'm??"

Cecil choses this moment in time to tuck his comic carefully away, facing his friends in full. He also chooses to take this time to appraise Will's slightly squished face, nodding smugly.

"Yeah, he's a babe."

"Right, okay, that's what I thought. It's the bone structure, right, it totally --"

"Yeah, yeah, and the pouty lips, that definitely --"

"--you're so literally right --"

"You ever watched his shoulders?"

"They're biteable! Biteable, and when he plays volleyball it's like --"

"--yep. And his legs are approximately the length of the equator."

"Freckly, too, it's so --"

"His eyes??"

"I know??"

"Honestly wild."

They turn to him, twin dark brown eyes glowing amber in the sun, appraising him from his golden hair to his bare toes. Will, unfortunately, seems to be right on the urge of passing out, so red he has begun to glow, so warm Lou is forced to let go, and so lightheaded he has begun to sway.

"Hngg-what," he mumbles, eyes far away. "Wha -- I'm --"

Cecil pokes gently at him with his toe.

"I think we broke him," he observes.

"I see," Lou Ellen agrees, chin in her hands. "That's kinda cute, too."

"Oh yah. He's like -- he's never not a smokeshow, you know? Like he's hot when he's mad."

"Smoking."

"And the whole -- it's diabolical to say, but he's like..."

"Movie star pretty when he cries. Yeah, yeah, I hear you."

They turn to each other, lips pursed in thought. They turn back to their slightly dying friend.

"Hm," they say, together.

Will begins to pray. His father, intrigued, only shifts to better the lighting on Will's face. Will agonizes, shifting to pray to his aunt. This too proves useless.

"You know," says Lou Ellen. She taps her manicured finger against her cheek. "We could always share him."

Cecil raises his eyebrows. "We could?"

"Do I??" Will gestures wildly, face now glowing so brightly he is kind of hard to see. "Get a say??"

Cecil and Lou Ellen look at each other. They look back at Will.

"No."

"Nah."

"That's! I am -- taken, okay! I!"

Cecil snorts. "A long-standing crush on greasy Gerard Way does not count as --"

"It's not his fault he's greasy!"

Lou Ellen observes the boys. She hums to herself, rocking back on her knees.

"-- and he's hardly ever here, you met him like twice --"

"Four times! And he's charming!"

Hm indeed.

"I have an announcement to make," Lou Ellen announces.

Both boys stop immediately. Lou Ellen nods graciously, sitting regally on Will's bed. Will pouts a little, but says nothing.

"I am considering converting to lesbianism," she says solemnly. "I'm not sure yet, but I have been presented with a case and it is compelling."

Will and Cecil shrug, making noises of agreement.

"Yeah, fair."

"I mean, girls. I get you."

Will clears his throat. "But, uh. No boys? For sure?" His pout returns. It is indeed very cute. "Did I do a bad job?"

Lou Ellen reaches over and pats him very gently on the head. Her bangles get in his eyes a little. He blinks them away politely.

"Aw, no. You just seem very hung up, and I'm not sure how well dating Cecil would work, and no one else will talk to me yet."

"Dating me is an amazing experience, I have references," Cecil says, at the same time Will says, "Wait, still?"

There is a pause. Again, they speak at the same time:

"Stop using me as a reference, Cecil, gods."

"You want me to vandalize their possession for you, Lou? I would love to do that for you."

Lou Ellen moves to pat Cecil gently and condensendingly on the head.

"I'm good. Thanks, though. Chiron says they just need time. And perhaps an ass-kicking, if I feel so inclined."

"Sage."

"Good advice, that."

They all nod at each other. Wordlessly, they stand, returning to their earlier positions: Cecil, reclining on Will's bed, having abandoned the comic book for a nap; Will, poking at his math; and Lou Ellen, passing a green spark around her fingers and carefully Observing.

It takes her several minutes of reflection to blink and realise.

References.

Her eyes widen.

"Hey, wait a second --"

Black fans in fandom: Listen, we really don't want to see fanart and fanfics of our beloved Black characters being cucked, mutilated, tortured, dehumanised, and sidelined, because it's legitimately detrimental to our community. It tolerates racism further; we all want you guys to stop. Many of you are incredibly microaggressive, so please hold yourselves accountable for that.

Half of Non-Black fans (who are ironically pro-fic, and anti-harassment despite the fact it goes against their principles): Are you guys saying fandom shouldn't write and draw taboo themes?
