First time I’m posting art here! I decided to do a redraw of one of my favorite scenes from Lackadaisy but I drew them as humans :>
As a side note, I did rely on the scene for reference (I hope that’s okay) especially with the gun😅 (I can’t draw guns yet ;-;)
Og Scene (God this scene is amazing 😭😭):
*In Walter White’s voice* Someone cooked here.
THIS KICKED ASS THO!!! Like the fighting scenes??!! I live for the manga style 🙇♀️ it’s amazing!!
I also love how they just ran for the hills at the end 😭😭 lmao
Can’t wait to see what you make next!!
Finally finished my first ever oneshot comic! Not really too deep of a story since I am again learning to make chapters before I work on Adam and Elizabeth's story ;). I highly recommend reading this zoomed in instead of scrolling.
The beginnings of one of the most dangerous men in early 1900s Chicago. Antonio and his crew are gonna climb their way to the top of the criminal underworld.
This was pretty fun ngl haha, even if it took like a month and the backgrounds were super lacking. Might continue this story or start with Adam and Elizabeth's chapter 1 next.
*chucks it into your face*
HAPPY LATE VALENTINES FROM MARÍANNE, LOVELIES!!
❤️💕💕
THIS IS SO GOOD
*CONSUMES ART*
AHHHHHHH
@ahhhh-118 was very gracious and let me copy her idea for halloween. @rudnitskaia also helped me with the last line of the poem, thank you so much!
I based Åse’s appearance of of Nøkken from Scandinavian folklore. I compare Åse lot with folk myths and creatures, most specifically with changelings. But Nøkken is also a good comparison. With it being associated with water and shape shifting.
I also like the symbolism of Åse kind of embracing the dark and the water. He isn't a naturally mean or bad person I think but he has been treated like an outsider most of his life, which was very dehumanizing for him. After he ran away from home and lost all the people in his life that actually treated him with love and respect he just gave up and accepted his own inhumanity. Being in the water kind of symbolizes him reclaiming the darkness and surrounding herself with it.
The composition itself is based on this Theodor Kittelsen illustration. This was especially fun for me because I was personally horrified of Nøkken when i was little. It didn't help that I grew up near a lake. The Kittelsen painting being a big reason why it freaked me out so much.
While I’m still working on the next page and some potential doodles :>
Here is a post of some references for Maríanne’s outfits because I didnt want to to obstruct the comic pages 😭:
1. Maríanne’s day dress, I changed the color because personally, blue didn’t suit her
2. I literally looked up 1920s farmers dress, the blue dress is more or less her uniform.
3. This is the brown cardigan she wears on her life on the road
4. I couldn’t find the exact dress but this is the one that I found closest to the one I drew for baby Marí (I forgot to save the image ;-;)
5. I believe this is the reference I used (I forgot to save this one too…) and the og color was green but since I wanted her “darker moments” to appear more monochromatic it didn’t show up :>
What a coincidence @yanci-indigo it appears that I am YOUR secret santa 🤭
I try to lean to a very portrait/painting style!
I drew the lovely Amber with her gang! Well at least the bug versions of them, see if you can find them all and identify who is who 😏
I know you don’t celebrate Christmas but this was a very fun thing to make for you as a gift!! :D
So Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays/Happy Day!! ❤️
Sweet babies 🥹
And some River's face dump :p
Awww Marí looks so cute 🥹
I cackled when I saw the bird tho, it looks so menacing LMAOOO Maríanne is aboutta get jumped by a bird and she’s not gonna be happy😭
This would be Maríanne’s reaction once she notices her “pet peeve”:
Also yes! Check out UTDM, its such a great interactive story!
I would like to know the most obscure and random Maríanne fun fact you can tell us, please!
Ooo, I shall give two! However, I’m not sure how obscure these facts are 🤷♀️
First fact:
I created Maríanne’s character while reading ‘Under the Devil’s Moon’ from @libras-interactives :> Her original name was Mariànne Paola, she played the trumpet, and was born in Cancun!
Second fact:
When developing her further, I wanted her attributes to be similar to a rattlesnake. Shows her connections back to her brother and his gang. Especially when it finds its way back to her.
I think these two images compared to one another prove my point:
Adding further on to this connection she carries around a rattlesnake tooth, which was given to her by her brother. Her brother attained it after a rattlesnake attacked a bully that was beating him up. Both Marí and her brother see it as a symbol of luck and protection.
Although the glasses was more of a fun idea to insert something of myself onto my character, it added more to these parallels since snakes are known to have poor eyesight lmao 😭
Despite her shitty eyesight, Maríanne is always wary of her surroundings when she feels threatened or tense, or any feeling of discomfort. She’ll literally sit in awkward position where you see half of her body and face.
Her logic: How can someone ambush you when you already have them in your sights? 😎
…😭 Okay Marí
Maríanne also has a “minor pet peeve” with birds (it’s not a phobia, she swears 😀)
I went on a bit of a tangent but thanks for the ask Calamity!! I always appreciate when people ask about Maríanne ❤️🥹
Birthday boy!! Also he looks mortified LMAOO 😭😭
