What if I said that this blog was by @inuyashasfeet on TikTok?
Hey Cynthia! This is kind of an ask but mainly a rant because I find this INCREDIBLY annoying, because it's clear these people don't understand the story AT ALL.
I don't think all KogKag shippers are annoying, but I'm surprised that there are so many fans who say that Kagome should've ended up with Koga because Inuyasha was aLWaYS going after Kikyo or that Koga would've TrEAtED her better. I feel like people who say this are just self-inserting onto Kagome. Reason number one: KogKag has little to no substance in canon, with her just humoring him every time he flirts with her. Number two: if they were paying attention, they would know WHY and WHEN Inuyasha went after Kikyo and that for him, there was only Kagome.
TLDR; Do you think people who say "Kagome should've chosen Koga because Inuyasha bad" are self-inserting? I know the anime changes are a huge factor, is that why people say this? I like your analyses so I'd like to know what you think.
Hello! First of all thank you for the love š„ŗ
(I know I have mutuals & followers who love Koga & Kogkag so warning: this post is very critical of both!)
Iām going to start off by saying āself-insertingā exists in a lot of ships. Thereās plenty of people who love Inuyasha and self-insert into Kagome with inukag. Thatās not something I have a big issue with, we all have our favorite characters and thereās nothing wrong with self-indulgence. But if we analyze the canon story, I think you definitely need make Kagome OOC in order to ship her Koga. I mean, if canon!Kagome had any interest in him she wouldn't have wasted her time with Inuyasha, lol. I've said this before but the main reason why Kagome loves Inuyasha and not men like Koga and Sesshomaru is because Inuyasha has a good heart. He might have a harsh personality (that he is improving) due to his past trauma but he has never killed & eaten innocent people the way the other two did.
Also, the racism. Kagome's defining personality trait is that she is open and welcoming with everyone. Why would she date Koga who calls people slurs unprovoked? Why would she date Sesshomaru who bullied his half-brother for being mixed? Sure these two somewhat improved their behavior over the course of the series but 1- There's no indication that Koga and his wolves changed their diet. Koga never showed any remorse for his actions and never said he wouldn't do it again. 2- Sesshomaru tolerates/respects a few people by the end of the series but he very much still sees human life as expendable (see his āWho cares?ā line when he hears his action could kill everyone in Kaedeās village). That is simply not compatible with Kagome Higurashi.Ā
The second anon brought up some good points about the misogyny in the fandom, and how male characters like Koga are praised while Kikyo is villainized for less. I constantly see Koga fans criticizing Inuyasha forĀ ābeing nice to Kikyo despite what sheās done to Kagomeā yet these people seemingly have no problems with Kagome being nice to Koga despite what he has done to Inuyasha. I think both Koga and Kikyo have poorly written āredemption arcsā, I think the inukag fandom just talk more about Kikyo/Inukik because Inuyasha did have feelings for Kikyo while Kagome never had any for Koga, so usually it isnāt worth talking about.Ā
As for Koga being "nicer" to her, I think a lot of it is definitely anime-only. There's that one filler episode where Inuyasha insults Kagome and Koga brings her flowers later (if I remember correctly) which is obviously meant to make Koga look like the better choice. Iāve talked about this a LOT on my blog but Sunrise went out of their way to make sure Inuyasha would almost never be kind and honest with Kagome compared to the manga, and they added a bunch of scenes where he insults her. Honestly with all the things that Sunrise changed I donāt blame anime-only fans for having issues with anime!inukag. Kagome has self-esteem issues because of Inuyashaās ex (who is her pre-incarnation) and on top of that the boy she loves insults her himself? I know a lot of inukag shippers just see it as a joke, but since Kagomeās self-worth is a real issue in the series I donāt find it particularly funny. But if weāre focusing on the manga, Inuyasha is not mean to her, heās only rude when heās angry (calls herĀ ābakaaā or usesĀ ātemeeā).Ā
Also, what does Koga even do for Kagome beyond giving her superficial compliments? He saved her a few times, which is what Inuyasha does on a daily basis. Koga said Kagome is āprettyā and āhas gutsā, which in my opinion pales in comparison to what Inuyasha said about Kagome:Ā
Inuyasha genuinely KNOWS Kagome. Sheās his friend. He spends all his time with her. He has seen the best and worst of her. Koga is just a guy who tries to woo her when he bumps into her once in a while. Inuyasha doesnāt compliment her all the time to score points, he says these things when he can tell Kagome is feeling down and truly needs to hear it.Ā
Koga really is just putting on a front to look good in front of Kagome. The things he says to her are not necessarily true, as Ginta and Hakkaku point out.Ā
If he did manage to win over Kagome, whoās to say he would keep up this act? Would they work out in a long-term relationship? What does Koga and Kagome have in common? Like I said, he barely knows Kagome. Unlike Inuyasha, who share Kagomeās values, and share a group of friends with her. Inuyasha knows Kagomeās world, her modern friends and her family (and they love him!). Inuyasha has a demon slaying business with Miroku and lives in a human village where Kagome can thrive as a miko. Koga rarely shows respect for what Kagome wants (he claimed her as his mate and spent the entire series touching her & calling her his āmutual loverā without her consent). Even when Kagome was crying in Inuyashaās arms after he almost died, Koga still said he ārefused to give up on herā. Like the second anon said, the guy really just canāt take a hint (until the very end), and as someone who dealt with men like this in real life I think itās a pretty big red flag.
Inuyasha literally said he owes everything he has in his life to Kagome. That he was born for her. He continuously chose to live with her instead of dying with Kikyo, risked his life to protect her by giving her the fire rat robe, ditched Tessaiga to save her, jumped into the well every 3 days ready to abandon his world for her. The fact that some people think heās not the biggest Kagome simp out there and think heās notĀ āworthyā of Kagome is insane to me.Ā
Inuyasha learned to give Kagome space when she needs to be alone so she can study. He respects her desire to finish school, respects the fact that she loves her world and didnāt pressure her to choose him over it.Ā
Also people argue that Kogaās redeeming quality is that he cares about his pack and getting revenge for the ones that Naraku killed. Well, funny how he completely gave up on that once he lost his shikon jewel shards uh? Koga is a FULL yokai and he abandoned his vow to avenge his friends as soon as he lost his power boost, meanwhile my boy Inuyasha stays true to his promise to protect Kagome even in his WEAKEST form!Ā
Rip to Koga but Inuyasha is simply built different š¤·āāļø
Anyway, the last point is Inuyasha and his feelings for Kikyo. At this point Iām convinced some people watched/read a completely different series than I did. I mean, the other day I saw a Tik Tok that was likeĀ āWhen Inuyasha runs off to kiss Kikyo for the 100th timeā like... what? Inuyasha initiated like 3 romantic interactions with Kikyo in the entire time he has known her. One hug when she was first revived to calm her down, one hug when he told her she could call him when sheās in danger, and the final kiss goodbye to put her soul at peace. Inuyasha is NOT aĀ ātwo-timerā whoĀ ākeeps going back to his exā. Heās a 15 years old boy whose first love got brutally murdered, he started to move on and fall in love with someone else then hisĀ āexā was revived as a vengeful revenant and guilt tripped him into thinking he should die with her. He cares for her and refused to let her get killed by her murderer again, but his real desire was to LIVE and move on and be with KAGOME. At this point anyone who doesnāt understand that probably doesnāt have the emotional maturity to understand the story. Iām not saying that Inuyasha handled the situation perfectly, because of course not, the situation is insane and the boy has no social skills from being ostracized his whole life, but the way some people think heās a bad person for loving more than one person in his life is insane to me. And you know what sucks? Inuyasha canāt win. If he didnāt care about what happens to Kikyo because he has a new girlfriend, people would call him heartless and would criticize him for treating women like objects that can easily be replaced. And that is one of the main reasons why comparing Inuyasha to other men like Koga, Sesshomaru or even Hojo annoys me a lot: Inuyasha did NOT choose to be in the situation heās in. He did not intend to be with both at the same time (the anime lineĀ āwhy canāt have a bothā is NOT canon).Ā
I think one other issue is people projecting their personal romantic fantasies on the situation. So many people dream of being someoneāsĀ āone and onlyā, of having their partner tell them that theyāveĀ ānever felt like this beforeā, and the fact that Kagome is not the only women Inuyasha ever loved somehow makes his feelings for her lessĀ āpureā or lessĀ āintenseā to them. Which never made any sense to me because 1- Why would you be lessĀ āpureā for loving many people in your life? The fact that Inuyasha fell in love & stayed with Kagome despite the fact that his āexā was revived and wanted him should actually be proof of how much he loves Kagome 2- Kagome IS InuyashaāsĀ āfirstā in SO many ways! The first person to make him happy, the first to cry for him and to make him cry, the first to give him a home, the first person he will be intimate with, the first (and only) person he MARRIES. His past feelings for Kikyo does not take away from that. I think the worst is when people argue that InuyashaĀ āstill thinks about Kikyo after her deathā like yeah, heās still fighting Kikyoās murderer until the last chapter/episode and his guilt got progressively worse as he repeatedly failed to protect Kikyo, remembering her does not mean heās still in love with her. He canāt exactly wipe out his memories. Some people even argue that he āshows sign that he loves herā in the bonus epilogue chapter?? Never mind the fact that the epilogue chapter just kind of sucks, Inuyasha didnāt have any reaction when Kikyo was mentioned, he said he didnāt care and he was only worried that Kikyo being mentioned would hurt Kagomeās feelings.Ā
When both Kagome and Kikyo were gone from his life, who did he miss? Did he go to Kikyoās grave every 3 days wishing she hadnāt died? Did Inuyasha ever think about using the shikon jewel or Tenseiga to bring her back properly so he could be with her? No he never did, because Kagome is the one he was born for and the one he wanted to spend his life with, not Kikyo.Ā
Tl;dr: From what Iāve seen the popularity of kogkag seems to be from people who just like Koga better than Inuyasha and are willing to ignore (or they donāt remember) all the atrocities he committed because they find him hotter and more ācharmingā, which is fine to me until people actually claim that Kagome should have been with Koga in canon. People who say that are usually just mad about the love triangle because 1- they only watched the anime and havenāt read the manga (and they also misremember the anime) 2- they idealize this idea of being someoneāsĀ āfirst and only loveā and they think Inuyashaās feelings for KikyoĀ ātarnishā that and 3- they usually lack the emotional maturity to understand the situation Inuyasha was forced in and donāt realize that Inuyasha did the best he could. Inuyasha is a hanyo who was alone all his life and is just starting to open up and trust others while Koga is a full yokai who never had to struggle in his life, and despite that Inuyasha consistently proved that he is a better person. Just because Koga is loud and straight forward with his advances doesnāt make him more loving than Inuyasha, who actually knows Kagome and is romantic and kind to her when it matters the most.Ā

Hello!
Fellow inukagger here *shakes your hand* I noticed your tags on an inuyasha video edit post where you stated inuyasha was seeing kagome during their almost first-kiss. I want to believe this soo badly, but I have actually made a post where I argue the opposite bc thatās (unfortunately) my interpretation.
I would genuinely love to hear why you think this as Iām more than happy to be convinced š„ŗā¤ļø If youāve posted about it before, apologies that I havenāt seen it; please kindly drop a link.
Thank you very much! (Itās all š«¶š¼ and interest in civil discussion, certainly not looking to start anything otherwise)
Sure thing! I think there's a lot of misconception firstly because Kagome herself says this. That he hates her for looking like Kikyou, but when he looked at her in that moment, it looked loving, so she herself put two and two together that he must still be seeing her as Kikyou, but therefore have been in love with Kikyou. Which is partially true in that we know he did have feelings for her back when she was alive. (I have my own InuKik-critical perception on this, but that's a whole other rant and probably not what you're asking.) But I think it's VERY important to keep in mind that Kagome is an Unreliable Narrator in her own story here, particularly where it comes to interpreting Inuyasha's feelings at times. This holds true for pretty much the entire story, but particularly early on, when she doesn't know him as well. First off, I'm going to fast-forward slightly to give examples of Inuyasha himself making it clear he does NOT see Kagome as Kikyou, to prove my point that he's not lying when he tells her so at the almost-kiss. Keep in mind a lot of these are only available in the source material and the anime DID cut them to fuel love triangle drama. The manga is the original intended canon, so that's what I'll be going with for this entire conversation.
(Let it be said that as far as Japanese subtleties are concerned, he is asking Kagome to date him, here.)
For the sake of argument, let's look back at this "very beginning" he mentions, and how long it took him to realize Kagome LOOKED a bit like Kikyou, but was not Kikyou:
Well that was quick. He does compare them a few times after this, but it's always about how different they are. (Usually to be rude, but let's face it, this is early Inuyasha.)
(I include this "comparison" just because he's RELIEVED here at Kagome NOT being Kikyou. It's the first explicit indication that he likes her for her and would be heartbroken if the girls got switched.)
(Then he proceeds to make it even more explicit, and even Kaede spells it out.)
He completely stops comparing them in any capacity after this, and the way he does it says to me that he sees and values them very differently IN SPITE of the slight physical resemblance, not BECAUSE they look alike.
"But Kit!" I hear you say, "These examples are meaningless because they are AFTER he tried to kiss her!" Well I disagree his feelings would have changed that drastically in the small amount of time given the context, but let's still look at all InuKag have been through at this point. I'll just do a montage of Inuyasha feeling pride or affection for Kagome in said arcs because I am self-indulgent like that, lol.
(My boy did not need to protect her, here. If she was gone, he'd be free of the beads and thus free to just take the Jewel. He did it purely out of valuing her life in some capacity.)
(Knowing her scent already? Lending her your only armor just so she won't get hurt? Why Inuyasha, that's not extremely intimate at all!)
(I find him saying her name significant not just because of differentiating her from Kikyou in his mind, but in that Inuyasha doesn't say ANYONE'S name unless they are important to him. Exceptions.)
("I refuse to get involved!" *Kagome's in trouble, immediately gets involved*)
(I love this arc overall SO MUCH cuz they not only have their first friendly pouty BFFs spat, but Inuyasha then immediately comes running to save her after smelling her blood THROUGH SPACE AND TIME, and is so desperate to be relied on cuz it makes him feel good to protect her and he's realizing that.)
(Lest we forget he had SOMETHING TO TELL HER right before threading their fingers extremely intimately.)
(Inu wasn't in this arc much but he WAS very worried and impressed with her.)
(I could honestly put the WHOLE spider head arc in here and gush about every detail of their character development, but we all know the highlight and I think Rumiko put it best in the Profiles Book that Inuyasha had never encountered or thought of anyone who would be saddened by his death before. I truly believe this is when he decided to open up and give his budding feelings for her a chance to bloom. And more importantly for this particular argument, decides NOT TO LIE to her again.)
And it's at this point we come to him trying to kiss her. It's true Inuyasha's emotions are slightly volatile from Kikyou being brought up. It's a definite sore spot, which even Kagome picks up on. Kagome asks point blank if he still sees her as Kikyou and hates her for it. To which he says she has it all wrong.
Considering her previous statement was if he HATES her, we can pretty easily infer that he's answering that directly, here. As in, no, he does not. Reading into context clues and what we see before and after this moment, I'd go so far as to say he's implying he LOVES her, here. Or at least is beginning to realize he likes her much more than as a friend. The last arc was huge for him, let's not forget that. He'd never ever been vulnerable like that with anyone: both in letting them know his night of weakness, and emotionally. All signs point to him having realized he's fallen for Kagome pretty hard and is ready to finally LET himself fall. (Though clearly Kagome's not quite ready herself, yet.) I'd argue that Kikyou's resurrection arc and the arcs following shortly after that I linked moments from earlier are there to just cement that he doesn't see her as Kikyou to any viewers who are still skeptical. In the manga anyway, we're never shown Inuyasha pining for Kikyou or wishing she was back to life. Quite the opposite, he only wishes her to rest in peace and reach Nirvana, which he has said to her more than once. The closest we get is this line right after the resurrection arc comes to an end and Kikyou's presumed dead from the cliff:
Which I personally interpret as him still being heartbroken, yes, but the fact he brings up the idea of falling for another woman tells me he's still mulling over how he has romantic feelings for Kagome, and his trauma regarding romance making him wonder if he should backpedal on that or give up his initial goal that was a symptom of his heartbreak in the first place. (As in, he immediately stole the Jewel after Kikyou betrayed him essentially to make the hurt go away as soon as possible. Also note this is AFTER the almost-kiss, right before Miroku makes his appearance.) So I have a pretty hard time believing that he suddenly decided to lie to Kagome right after his entire breakthrough night of vulnerability with her, and how that affected him. Also keep in mind that Kagome doesn't have concrete feelings for Inuyasha yet, so there is no jealousy or lack of confidence where Kikyou is concerned at the point of time in question. One could (shakily imo) argue that he might lie to protect her feelings later on, when he's worried about her becoming angry or jealous, but he has no such reason to lie, here. Therefore I believe he's being extremely genuine, and probably the most genuine he's been so far since he decided to abandon his previous lie about disliking her scent. I truly think he wanted to find out what kissing was like with this spitfire girl who'd run away with his heart already and made him feel and share things he'd never felt or shared with anyone. I hope this at least elaborated on why I see that scene the way I do! If you have questions or want me to discuss an aspect of it further, don't hesitate to hit up my inbox again! I'm happy to share my thoughts on the series and especially InuKag!
* He loves showing you off of his colleagues
* He keeps close to you specially when his colleagues are around
* He lets you have your way on him but never to the extent of humiliating you in public
* He is a true softy and really gets weak when you touch him
* He would take care of you. Not just your health but overall Aspect of you.
* He is a true gentleman, he will never touch you inappropriately even if you provoke him.
P.S.
If I am not already in love with this guy, I sure am now..
