OH DAMN META

Meta Knight breaks his hand at Merry Magoland.

(slight blood warning towards the end. Nothing extreme, though.)

I hc that Meta Knight trained himself to swordfight with his non-dominant hand (being the left), so he is still able to help during the main four’s journey.

Day 10: Mechanical

I absolutely loved planet robobot!!! I played it so much it was such a blast hehe,,, ofc I had to draw it (also the robobot itself actually took me a bit to draw 😞) it's kinda rushed again cause I have lots of studying for my classes!! Anyways I would like to think if kirby ever found it again, maybe susie can help him fix it!!!

[ficlet, set during planet robobot, after the first battle with mecha knight. cw for slight body horror]

“You came back.” It was Susie’s hushed voice, her breath on his ear. Meta jerked back, blinking the heavy sleep from his eyes.

It was true – he was back in Susie’s lab, reclining in that godawful restrainer. There was a pounding in his head, and the blue glow of Susie’s eyes in the low light made it worse. He risked a glance downward and saw metal and wiring spilling from a gaping wound in his side.

“Thank you for letting me fix you,” Susie whispered. Her gloved hands were busy at work with the wiring.

Meta leaned back and gritted his teeth. “I did not come back.” Sharp sparks of pain shot up his side. “Your machinery brought me back.”

Susie snapped her pliers together. “Same thing, Mecha Knight.” Her bloodstained gloves reached for a needle and medical thread. The next moment he felt the tiny stabs and painful stretch of flesh of the wound being sewn up. Meta Knight tried to focus on his breathing.

“Come on…” Susie’s faraway voice cooed. “You know how to get through this, my knight.” She giggled. “Or do you want to hear my voice?”

She began to sing softly: “Noble Haltmann, we adore him…”

The needle kept stabbing him. Meta closed his eyes and listened.

“Kingly lord of time and space!”

Despite himself, Meta’s brain automatically anticipated each word, his lips forming the lyrics of their own accord. To his horror, he heard himself join in.

“We implore you, dear Haltmann…”

They finished the verse. “I’m glad you came back, Mecha Knight.” Susie’s voice was quiet, genuine. Finished with his wound, she tied a knot with the thread and neatly snipped off the excess. Meta let out a breath. The pain was still there, but it had dulled into a manageable ache. “Obviously, you’ll have to undergo some upgrades,” She said, her voice returning to its usual overly-chipper tone. “But your organic system needs to be strong enough.” She stripped off the blood-soaked gloves and dropped them in the trash. “You need a few days’ rest.”

“Thanks for the vacation time,” he muttered sardonically.

Susie was washing her hands in a wheeled sink. “That little pink kid is a lot more powerful than we realized. I’ll ask Mother Computer to upgrade you with top-of-the-line new tech. It’ll be a shock to your organic system, but I know you can take it, my knight.” She dried her hands on a pink checkered towel.

“Can I at least get some cooler upgrades this time?” he sighed.

“I’ll see what I can do.” Susie patted his cheek with damp, clammy hand. “Now, get some rest. Page a Haltworker if you need anything; I’ve lots of paperwork to get through. And Mr. Haltmann needs an explanation as to why a machine designed by the Mother Computer failed.”

With her lack of a mouth, Susie’s moods were often difficult to read – but not this time. Her repetitive movements as she tidied her workspace revealed clear anxiety. He watched her straighten the pliers on the table for the fourth time.

“Your machine worked perfectly,” he said softly. “It’s the man housing it that’s the problem.”

“Your self-preservative instincts need work, my knight.” Her words were chiding, but there was no hint of it in her tone – just a resigned sadness. “If I tell him that, he’ll order you disposed of. Company assets must not be wasted, you know. And I don’t want you disposed of.”

With that, she left the lab. Meta listened to the click of her heels down the hall until they faded away.
