Blackstans- it is so cruel to ask for an eye! How dare Alicent be such a cruel petty b****
Blackstans- A son for a son is only fair.
Looool. It’s only fair when it’s their side getting revenge, obviously.
But it’s very telling about how team black actually view these two “comparable” scenarios.
On one hand, you have a mother whose son was just maimed and lost an eye, and whose abusive husband is completely uncaring at the loss and chastises her for her anger. And her screaming and crying, begging for justice falls upon a room of deaf ears. So, she lashes out and decides to deliver justice herself on the actual perpetrator who stabbed her child. And this moment of pain is seen by the fandom as quintessential proof that Alicent is evil, vicious, and malicious. And she can never and will never be forgiven for this lapse in judgement. Even though she vocally regrets it and denies the opportunity for the eye when she’s calm and her mind is clear.
Meanwhile, we have a mother and step-father who lost the life of a child, which is terrible. And their solution is to kill another child as revenge. However this is a child that is unrelated to the death of their son. It’s the nephew of the murderer. A little boy that was completely uninvolved (and this isn’t including the rape threats and emotional torture done to Helaena who is ALSO uninvolved). And yet team black sees this as a morally justifiable solution and seem to revel in the murder. Even though the victim isn’t at fault.
It’s just hard to wrap your head around. Alicent wanting to hurt the boy who maimed her son is evil and unforgivable, even when she is sorry for her actions. But Rhaenyra and Daemon killing an innocent boy is ok because their son was killed by someone who is on the side of the father of that boy??
Neither situation is justifiable or ok. But team green doesn’t support an eye for an eye, while team black does support and even revels in a son for a son. And either way, they aren’t comparable because one is wanting justice against the perpetrator and the other is…wanting to kill an innocent kid for violent revenge.
oh yeah also. I will get people in my inbox telling me to kill myself over this, but: I do think that fake murdering the consistent father figure of your children who is a bit emotionally absent but very reliable and a good person and replacing him with daemon is a decision that is going to be bad for those children. even though she does it to elevate her claim. and then having a fourth son who has bright blonde hair and beautiful legitimate purple eyes and naming him AEGON is something that is going to be politically bad for your eldest three suspiciously brunette sons.
luke seems to idolize rhaenyra but i don’t know what’s going on with jace. he does nottttt seem to like daemon and seems very protective of his mother against him, but also knows that she won’t tell him the truth about who he is even though everyone else WILL and I think on some level, he has to have at least considered that she might have killed Laenor. i wish they had spent time on this!!!!

Some four years later:
Yes lmao I just remembered the Tyrion one is from Got ahahah
I really don't understand the writer's reasoning for race swapping the Velaryon's, when every Velaryon is mistreated or cast aside by the all white Targaryen's. Literally everyone of them.
• Corlys - Is apparently so selfish he's willing to disregard all of his blood related family to put a white boy that is no relation to him on his ancestral seat just because he carries his last name? Even though there's plenty of other actual Velaryon's that carry the Velaryon name.
• Vaemond - Gets murdered for telling the truth, and not wanting Driftmark to go to someone who isn't a true Velaryon. I think they only added him calling Rhaenyra a whore after calling her son's bastards to try and make his death justifiable, as if calling someone a bad name = off with his head.
• Laena - Is married to Daemon but knows that she isn't his first choice, and if he had his way he'd be with his (white) niece. Is stuck by his side in Pentos even though he knows she wants to return home. Supposedly dies a *badass* dragon rider death, but I just saw a pregnant black woman dying in agony. Like that doesn't already happen in real life when black women are four times more likely to die in childbirth.
• Laenor - The cuckold of all cuckolds. In almost every scene of adult Laenor he's completely miserable. And apparently he too is willing to disregard all his trueborn family to put a white boy that isn't his on the Driftmark throne. And I don't find Rhaenyra to be some great LGBTQ ally by "letting" Laenor run away and permanently leave his home and family behind so he can be with his partner and she can remarry.
• Baela and Rhaena - Have actual Velaryon blood through their mother, get passed over so another white boy can get something he has no entitlement too. Baela would have had a slim chance of ending up queen because even if Rhaenyra became queen, the lords of Westeros would have been very unlikely to accept an illegitimate son as her heir. Rhaena could become lady of Driftmark but only as a consort through Luke, meaning if he died her claim to Driftmark would die with him.
I'm all for diversity and representation, but was the family who consistently gets walked all over the best choice to make POC?
I think they were aiming for liberal and inclusive, but that doesn't really work when your white characters use and exploit the black characters you've purposely made black.

Yes say it louder! Also I really don't get Mysaria's double standards. In episode 9, she's only willing to give Aegon back to the greens if they promise to stop the child fighting pits in flea bottom. It shows she cares for exploited, abused children. But then she helps Daemon brutally murder a six year old boy? Wtf! Poor kids should be helped but the noble ones have to die? I'm speechless
I’ve seen a lot of Mirri haters saying Mirri supporters should support Mysaria no matter what.
Here’s the problem with that, Mirri is forced into slavery, violated repeatedly, and sees her home destroyed and people she loves killed. Mirri gives clear instructions for Khal Drogo to heal, which he ignores and this gets even more sick. Mirri then attempts to heal Drogo from the brink of death but tells dany there will be a cost. Dany asks if her own life will be the price and when told no she agrees to it. Mirri is then blamed for Drogo not being ‘Alive’ and turns she gets to roast dany saying this is what she saved. Then Mirri is burned alive.
Mysaria in contrast is now a powerful spy master with multiple people spying for her throughout kings landing. She assists her ex lover in murdering a child that she probably doesn’t even know, mentally torturing the mother and grandmother of that child.
They are not the same. Mirri followed orders from her enslaver and when her enslaver was not happy with the outcomes she was burned alive. Mysaria helped murder a child who’s family had done nothing to her.
Spent a lil time making some wholesome doodles of my favorite SnK ship ❤️
Sometimes it's nice to step back from how heavy the show actually is and draw something lighthearted ☺️
thinking so hard about caleb wittebane.
caleb is the most important character in the show. caleb died 400 years before the first episode. caleb is the reason philip came to the boiling isles, and caleb is the reason belos wants to destroy it. you cannot tell me that “saving humanity” is the only motivation for the man so obsessed with the brother he murdered. it’s his moral excuse to take revenge on the people he sees as having taken his brother away, a justification to himself that what he did was acceptable. he knows it isn’t.

Strongest team black argument be like
A thing that always makes me laugh about team green is the fact that they always referred to rhaenyra as a whore (aemond at storm's end called her 'the whore of dragons stone' , aegon after she refudes his term say that 'the whore threw his term in his face') because rhaenyra have a relationship and children with a man she love without achieving anything. The definition of a whore is a woman (or a man) who prostitutes herself (or himself) and prostitution is 'sexual performance for profit' (which can be money, favor, political power) which is exactly what alicent is doing with larys in episode 9. She is 'offering' a sexual performance so larys will give her the information she need. So 'whore' is a word that describes alicent's act not rhaenyra. This is really funny like aemond and aegon watch your mother before speak
