âCâmon.â Buck said randomly, patting his lower back.
âWhat?â
âI-I wanna give you a piggy back ride.â
Tommy groaned. âEvan. I can walk just fine.â
Buck patted his back again. âCome on. Letâs go.â He said more adamantly, refusing to take no for an answer.
Tommy reluctantly climbed on Buckâs back , wrapping his strong thighs around Buckâs hips, and draped his arms over him.
Buck hoisted Tommy up slightly and grasped his thighs. âAlright, there we go.â
Tommy was awkwardly silent as Buck took him around the park. Buck could feel Tommyâs heart pounding against his back and sensed his unease and tension.
âNobodyâs looking at us, Tommy.â Buck said, causing him to laugh.
âVery cute, Evan. I remember that being my line.â
âWell, now itâs mine.â Buck decided as they walked along a bridge over a pond, spotting some ducks in the water. âI know youâre not used to thisââ
"You're right. I'm not." Tommy admitted. "The men I date don't usually offer me piggy back rides."
âThereâs a first time for everything.â Buck said with a slight chuckle.
They continued their stroll through the park enjoying the slight breeze and calm ambiance. Buck told Tommy some fun facts about the trees, flowers growing near the pond, why ducks shouldnât eat bread and even informed Tommy that the inventor of frisbees came up with the idea as a teenager, throwing popcorn tin lids with his girlfriend.
âItâs a really beautiful day, isnât it?â Buck sighed wistfully, admiring the scenery.
âMhm.â Tommy hummed as he buried his reddened face in Buckâs shoulder.
This was the safest heâd ever felt in a relationshipâperhaps even his whole life.
He felt so secure. So happy. SoâŠsmall. Which would probably sound silly if said aloud. But, nonetheless. Tommy did feel small, being held so securely with his feet dangling above the groundâyeah. How could he not love this?
âIf you hide your face, youâll miss the sunset.â Buck said softly, prompting Tommy to lift his head.
âAre you sure youâre not tired?â
âI had 2 cups of coffee this morning. Iâm pretty wide awake.â
âNo.â Tommy snorted. âI meantâare you tired of carrying me?â
âOh!â Buck laughed. âNo. Itâs fine.â
A brief silence fell upon them as they watched the fiery red sun setting.
âDid you know the sun starts to lose its color as it sets? As it drops into the horizon, it loses its blue, then green and yellow, then orange wavelength hues. And all thatâs left is red.â
âThatâs why it looks like a fireball when the sunsets.â
âYep. Itâs probably the only fire we never want to put out.â Buck said with a smirk.
âI would never want to put out our fire either.â
âYeah?â
âI love you, you know.â
âYes I-I do know. And I love you too.â
âSo, can I give you a piggy back ride home?â
Buck shook his head. âIâm not putting you down.â
âI could just jump off your back.â
âIf you try it, youâll take me down with you, because Iâm not letting you go.â
âEvanâŠâ Tommy warned, pulling Buck down into the grass with him. The two tumbled around for a few moments, then lied in the grass, laughing together until the sky turned dark and everyone around them had already gone home.
